Sorry the photo quality is poor. Also my batteries in my digi cam were dying so, yeah.

I don't have a sewing machine (okay theres a really old one in my house but I'm afraid it will take off my finger) so it's a little shabby. But I did have fun making it!

Does anybody know any sites that have templates/outlines to make stuffed animals?

So, I'm knitting a scarf for my Aunt for her birthday--just a basic 6-stitch cable up the middle, surrounded by reverse stockinette, and a 4-stitch border of garter stitch. The garter stitch border is, of course, there to keep it from rolling, in theory.

Here's the problem: it's now "rolling/folding" at the edge where the border meets the rest of the scarf! I've never had this problem before, and I don't know what to do about it--I've tried knitting tighter at the transition from border to middle, I've tried knitting looser, I've tried blocking it to get it to stay flat, and nothing works.

The scarf is now 3/4 done and I don't have time to redo it (plus I really like the way it looks when I flatten it out!) so I'm trying to think of something I could put on the back to keep it flat--my boyfriend suggested that I sew fleece to the back to make a super warm scarf, and I think that would work but might make it too bulky. If I can't think of anything else, I'll try that, but I figured I'd check with you lovely crafty ladies and see if anyone has a better suggestion!

I'm back! Third night in a row! I've been making stuff like crazy because I have an ad running right now and I'm trying to keep my *WORD THAT BEGINS WITH "S" THAT IS ILLEGAL TO SAY ON CRAFTGRRL* stocked with stuff and I've just gotten around to photographing the latest round of stuff, hence my three-nights-in-a-row posting. I hope you guys aren't getting sick of me. Anyyyyyyyyyyhow, here's some more stuff:

I'm not sure how crafty this really is, but I thought I'd throw this idea out there for other moms who are tired of doing the same old birthday treat bags over and over again.

My youngest son is turning five this weekend, and I decided to do something a little more special for his birthday treat bags this year. His class only has four students in it, and the other three are girls. So I decided to make them purses and put a snack inside.

Curtains.

I have a couple questions.

1] Anyone know of a website that you can buy large gromets from?
[it's for curtains i'd like to make and they need to be able to fit a curtain rod through them]

2] if i made curtains from suede, do you think that would block out the light very good?
[I don't have blinds, so i need anything to block out the light as much as possible]

THANKS!

I've been crazy about purple lately, so I made my first flexi-necklace using nylon-coated stainless steel wire.

Nothing too complicated huh.

goddesses buttons

Okay, I've been going crazy with my new 1" tecre button maker. Here are some of the photos. If you click on any of them, it will take you to my flickr page and you can see more of them. It's very addicting! And with each button I make, I am SO HAPPY I sent back the badge-a-minit one and got the tecre! Thanks again to every one who gave me advice on it.

Hi, I definitely need some help.  My boss's wedding is Feb 10 and I really don't have the money to spend on a gift.  I was thinking of making something... I've got a crochet book with a pattern for a photo album cover and I was thinking of making a matching scrapbook album cover.  The girl I work with was supposed to help... she crochets and knits also... so we were going to make something together.  But everytime we sit down to discuss what we're going to do, she keeps putting it off and it's getting to the point where if I don't start something very very soon, I won't have the time.  I need ideas on what to make... it's a wedding present for a couple that has lived together for a long time and already has everything... ideas, patterns, links to websites, anything... would be appreciated :D  Thank you!

I bought this black plastic cord and while it's worked great for doll necklaces I can't get it straight enough for human ones. Does anyone have any idea how I can straighten this stuff out?

rain boots

I just bought a pair of rain boots on sale today. They are Completely black and I am wanting to paint octopuses, muffins or something on them. But my question is what type of paint/ sealer would I have to use to make it stay when it gets wet, I honestly think that acrylic would stay in the rain but the surface of the boots is slick, so I think it might scratch off. So what would you guys suggest? Oil paint?

Now that I know my customer is happy with her pieces in their final form, I can post the update to my last BRC post (in which I showed one of the pendants with oxidized veins, but no colorful finish....as well as the design sketch for a completely different, and much more elaborate commission).

This is how the oak pendant shown last time turned out, once I got the "Autumn-wash" finish on, in a way that satisfied me:

And, this is how the other pendant, a ginko, turned out:

Look at me, I'm shiny! )

I am glad she wanted the ginko to have this finish, because I think it really brought out the otherwise subtle texture of the leaf. I think I still prefered that oak with only oxidized veins, though. Ahh well. She loves 'em, and I'm at peace with them...so it's all good. :-)

Boydie with Necktie, originally uploaded by superminx.

This is my third Boydie stuffed toy. He (she) is made from my own pattern and fashioned after some of the paintings I did last year for our Kindergarten's craft stall (thankfully all sold now).

I finished these up a while ago, but forgot to post.  My fiance LOVED the fabric and swears they are comfy (but I'm pretty sure he's just saying that to be nice!)  Sorry my digital camera is only a 2.0 mega pixel...it was all I could afford when I HAD to have one...now it just gets used for selling used stuff on eBay!

This was my inspiration. I am donating this bag (and whatever else I come up with) to The Vagina Monologues going on at my school. :)

felt robot

This is one of the first crafts I made with felt. He's about six inches tall.
He is Reuben the self esteem robot, he loves himself no matter what.
His eyes are a bit wonky and he has stumpy legs, but he always has a silly smile on his face, and gives himself lots of hugs.

I would like to make some coin purses, but I can't find zippers that are smaller than 7 inches.  I know I can cut larger sized zippers down to size, but I really like the finished look with the metal end.  I've been all over my area and the Internet looking for smaller zippers, but I haven't had any luck.  Someone suggested doll zippers, but I haven't been able to find those either.  Please help!  Do you know where I can find them???  Thanks!
