I'm looking for an old post that doesn't appear to have been archived in the memories or by LJSeek. Someone had figured out a way to safely reproduce the coffee cups that developed a stain over time --etching off the finish, coffee/tea then stains the bisque I guess?-- but I can't find a picture of the original cups OR the post made about reproducing them. I could have sworn I had saved it too.

Does anyone remember what I'm talking about?

My apologies if this has been posted already. A friend sent me this brief video on "Handmade Nation" a documentary about DIY and crafting. It has a lot of our favorite crafters and comes out next March.

okay, sorry for the text-only, but once I get the answer to this question, I'll be able to post the craftiness...

With the elastic thread for jewelry making, everyone says to use a drop of glue to secure the knot, because it slips annoyingly.  So, what kind of glue should I use?  superglue?  elmers glue?   Thanks in advance!

sorry, this is text only.

I'm new to crocheting (as in I learned how this weekend), can anybody recommend any small projects that I can get started on?

Thanks!

Dear Craftgrrls,
I have a question! I'm trying to pad the inside of a canvas bag for the purpose of holding my 35mm camera safely, so I need some kind of semi-rigid padding material to surround the camera. What type of material do you suggest? Regular batting seems too easily squishable...any ideas? Thank you!

I need some help with a sort-of T-shirt quilt.  So this isn't text only:

I've got some craft stuff that needs a home, so I thought I'd give it away to the first person interested =) You'd only have to pay for shipping ($8 for a flat rate box).

*ALL* of this would be in the box:

1 white Bernat Softee Baby yarn (almost new)

1 'light country blue' Caron Simply Soft yarn (almost new)

1 'sage' Caron Simply Soft yarn (new)

4 bottles of Apple Barrel paint (red, flesh, black, and green - all partially used. The black is one of the large bottles, the others are the small ones)

3 L-XL sized mens t-shirts. Some are plain, one has a tiki guy on it.

2 1/2 yards of 1 7/8" wide 'atom red' bias hem facing. (new, in the package)

About 30 feet of 0.30mm beading wire.

75 yards of floss-like beading thread.

A pair of size 8 metal knitting needles.

And the rest of the room in the box will be stuffed with as much fabric scraps and pieces that I can fit in there :)

Let me know if you can take this off my hands. I'm sad to see it go, but I'm overrun with crafty stuff!

frou frou cardigan from stitch n bitch happy hooker using paton's classic merino yarn in leaf green. it took me about 5 days to finish this. i tried to lengthen the sleeves a bit, but i think i might have made them too long and they are a bit too wide. i still need to find a button or a pin that i like to use as a closure. it's my second sweater... better than the first, but still could use some improvement.

thanks for looking ^_^

A few weeks ago I found an amazing Nintendo duvet cover in a local charity shop for only £1.75. I couldn't believe my luck! My first project was this tote bag, for a gaming-obsessed friend who's leaving these shores for good next month to go home to California :o(

I generally tend to think of myself as pretty darn good at knitting. However, when I'm doing the first line, I tend to end up pulling the string too tightly and as such it ends up looking slightly warped and curved at one end.

So... if I were to start all projects on a slightly larger size of needle than I intend to use and then knitting onto smaller needles, would that work as a method of keeping things proportional? Or is that insane? Just knitting the first line on a larger needle?

If that does sound a bit rubbish, does anyone else have the same problem?

Any replies would be rad, thanks.

Hey ladies,

I'm running out of these:
They're called Beaver Tail Bails, or something...
and can't find a good place to buy them in bulk, and not in sterling silver. I'd like to buy them plated and in quantities of 50-100 pieces per package. Does anyone know where I can get these for decent prices? Thanks for any help, I really appreciate it.

I wish I knew how to quilt, but I do not. I do have a quilt that my grandma made about 25 years ago (before I was born, and I never met her). I've always loved the quilt and I hardly wash it because the squares are coming apart. Do you guys know of a place I can go that will re-sew and stuff the quilt?

Thanks
