It was brought to my attention in Flickr that there's a project going on, whose purpose is to make a diary for 2008, in which each page is decorated and created by different artists from all over the world. The girl who created the project and will be editing the diary is looking for artists to fill every day of the year. If you sign up, you'll just have to decorate a vertical page in black and white or grey for the day you chose and send it to her e-mail. You can promote your shop or website in the bottom of it and you'll be able to buy the diary at cost price when it's ready ;-) To read more about the project and see which days are still left, go here.

I've already booked August 20, when my birthday takes place and would really like to see this project going forward, so I'm promoting it in some crafts communities, hoping you become interested in it as well as I already am :-)

Hi ladies, I'm interested in silk screening, and I found this product that seems to make it really easy, but I wanted to see if anyone here had tried it. It's called "PhotoEZ"and it does photo-emulsion style without chemicals. Thanks for any comments!

I'm a tribal bellydancer. We wear a lot of shells, feathers, beads, coins, etc. I have a ton of shells from a few years ago when I went to Mexico. I have a variety of different styles and sizes. I made a pair of hair clips for another girl in my troupe using a glue gun and some barrettes. I want to make a headband of shells for myself. Any suggestions on a base or what I should use attach the shells to the base and to each other? Some of them I want to stand up straight, I think, like a crown. I'm thinking, since the shells will be pretty heavy when they're all together, that I'll put a bunch of hair clips on the base so I won't have to worry about it falling off my head.

Here's what I'm thinking, laid out as best I can:

those spiraly, pointy shells would stand up straight and the rest would lay flat to my head.

i am interested in making some prints of my work - these are pretty complicated images, so silkscreening would not work. how would you suggest going about this? i thought perhaps printing the image out on a high quality printer, using the proper paper, might work, but i know there are places that can also produce intaglio images commercially.

what do you craftgrrls have to say? has anyone used a commercial printer? what about the computer route?

I'm finally on break from classes and I had been very excited about doin a lot of my crochet and loom knitting. I also garden and make soap as hobbies too.

The problem is that the first weekend of break... I broke my right arm. (I'm right handed) Now I'm mostly just sitting around feeling sorry for myself because I can't do anything.

Does anyone have any crafty suggestions for me. Stuff I can do with only one hand that isn't my dominent hand. Thanks!

Hi everyone! I've been a bit out of it for a while now, but I'm back with my latest beading endeavor--combs to wear for my wedding day!

pics and details back here... )

Also, could any of you knitters point me to someone that might be interested in helping me make (or making for me) Shimmer from knitty.com? http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter03/PATTshimmer.html
I have no abilty to use dpns or knit in the round and have never knitted anything where gauge or measurements matter. This would terrify me completely, especially since I would be wearing it on my WEDDING DAY. Ack! Help!

Hi all,

I'm looking for opinions on what you think is the best all-purpose glue to use if you're doing a mixed-media canvas that would include paper images and paint?

Many thanks :)

ETA: I'm thinking mixed media stuff like this:

I've never sold my items before (other than a donation from a grateful friend) and am just wondering...

Those of you who do sell regularly:

1. What do you sell?
2. What prices do you sell your items at?
3a. How much do you charge for your labor costs?
3b. When you spend extra time on an item, do you charge extra, even if the product is simple?
4. What sort of profit margin do you work for?
5. Where do you sell?

6. How can I get in on this?
7. Can I really REALLY make good money off of part time crafting?

I need to make some money off of these crafty things I do.
I'm tired of being broke.

Sorry if this post breaks any rules, but I don't think it does.

I just discovered that tea tree oil takes spray paint off your fingers. I discovered this by putting the oil on my finger and my finger on my face.

I'm spray painting a metal rack for a craft sale, and my friend thinks I should spray a sealant on it so it doesn't rub off on the fabric. I think she's right. Has anyone done this before? What should I use?
Apologies for the text-only post, my camera's broken, but soon.
