I'm new here! My name is Shannon and I love crafts, especially yarn crafts. (Knitting, crochet, etc.) I like cats, theater, and long walks on the beach.

So I learned how to crochet, FINALLY. (I taught myself! I'm so proud!) And I also learned how to make a hat! And I'm REALLY excited, because I love hats but I'm cheap and don't want to spend 40 dollars on a nice hat that I could totally make myself ifIonlyknewhow...anyway. Here is the hat:

Isn't it cute? Haha, it's so simple, all of you experienced crafters are probably like "Yeah...so what? I MAKE TEN OF THOSE HATS IN MY SLEEP"* but I think it's adorable. Teehee.

However, I have a question...I looked in the memories but could not find an answer, so my apologies if it's been asked before.

Spirally hat? )

*I'm just kidding, all of you girls seem very sweet. :D

LOVE SHANNON

I wandered around M&S, Fenwicks, and John Lewis today and kept seeing stuffed Shaun's, and even a kit to knit your own... but i'm super broke and I suck a knitting... So i broke out my handy crochet hook and I made myself a Shaun!

Is there any reason you could or couldn't? I saw some gorgious hello kitty flannel and I'd love to cut the kitties out and making iron ons out of them. I also have tons of flannels that'd probably be cute for iron ons and appliques.  How about fleece can you make them out of fleece, I don't think so  because the type of material it is.

i've made 2 hats starting on circular needles then switching to DPNs. my question is about using the dpns. when i knit on them, the part than i am working with is closest to me. i didn't find the stich n bitch explanation on using them helpful but she mentioned something about how using them 'wrong' will result in the work being inside out. what is the proper way to use the dpns?

i get the basics...the hats are done and everything im just wondering if i'm using them  wrong or something...knitting from the wrong place.

For my Visual Culture course I had to make a project.
I chose to use the internets and make a Cyberfeminist blog.

Cyberfeminism is about action and participation...
so people, act and participate!

http://cyberfeminism.blogspot.com/

I'll be posting all day as I work on the project.

So check it out and voice your opinions.

Thanks!

I'd love to make one of those little box bags, I've been attempting the one from dragoknitfly's blog, but it's completely not making sense and I've seam ripped to the point of my fabric isn't looking so hot. :(

Can anyone suggest another tutorial or a book/real life pattern?

tarot journal front cover

Yesterday I helped [livejournal.com profile] chernobylred art up the cover of a journal. While I was helping her, I arted up the cover of an old book to use as my tarot journal. The book is an old book titled "This Is South Africa." You can't tell from the scan, but the whole front is covered in gold glitter glue. I also but copious layers of Golden's gloss varnish on it and I love the shininess of it.

It's a combination of acrylic paint, collage, packing tape transfer, glitter glue, alphabet stamps (Pistolgrip) and hand-carved stamps.

It was the first time I've gotten to make any art in a long time, and it was so fun! I'll gesso and collage over the pages in order to use them for my journal.

Requested by Alan: amigurumi bunny and sheep. Patterns for both are from the book あみぐるみの本 (amigurumi no hon; "amigurumi book"), ISBN4-8347-2487-5. I changed the face of the bunny though because I didn't like the way they did they smile.

Projects #42 & 43 for 50 crafty projects in 2007. ALMOST THERE! (Actually though, I've probably already hit 50, because I haven't counted the things I crafted for my Secret Snowflake yet.. because I didn't post photos.. and I've done some other crafting that I forgot to take photos of.) XD

Can anyone suggest a place for my sister and I to meet to craft? She's on the N/W train and I am on the F. I live in brooklyn and she lives in Astoria. I would travel to astoria if I had to but we'd rather meet in manhattan to avoid insanity. :)

Worst comes to worst there's *bux.

Been busy lately, I had a toy show to make some things for.
I finally bought a sewing machine! My first one. :) It was working wonderfully until POP! goes the little thingy that holds the bottom bobbin in. thingy.. technical term. & the thing that holds the fabric in place popped out too.
Since I bought the sewing machine, I thought I was going to have so much more time to work on things, then those things broke, so I left it at home for my mom to fiddle with when I went back to school, & had to handsew the last few things. I practically ran to the post office from my dorm to make the toy show deadline on time.

Well, anywhooooo, here's what I've been up to!

It's like a maze in here, ever spiraling outward. If I'm not home for dinner its because I'm still lost in your heart.

Polymer clay, acrylic paint and Modge Podge.
