Hello!

A girl I know just had a baby girl and I'd really like to make her something(s).  I bought some soft baby yarn and I was thinking about making some little booties or a smallish blankets.  Then I remembered that I'm really not good at crocheting and knitting takes forever for me.

So, crafty ladies, do you have any recommendations for a "blankets-for-dummies" type of pattern?  Or, alternately, a way to make my stitches a little more uniform.  That's my problem, basically, my stiches are never uniform, which you can't really tell on a scarf because a scarf is usually *wrapped around a person's neck*, whereas a blanket can't be as deformed, I think.

Here is a necklace that I made for my step mother for Christmas.

It is made with glass and metal beads and size 35 silver jewelry wire.

Hey everyone -- my husband and I are expecting a little boy in March and I've been working on a mural in the nursery.

Nursery -- Almost Finished!

Here it is almost finished -- I still have to do a second coat in a couple places and may still make a couple changes to a few things I'm not 100% happy with.

My question is, the paint pen that I used for the outlines says that I should use an acrylic sealer. I'm thinking I'd like to do this on the entire wall, since Acrylic paints can chip and I want the wall to be safe and touchable. Does anyone have experience with this? Should I be making a trip to Michaels or to Lowes? Am I looking for something in a rattle can or a brush/roll on type? Will I be able to find something non-glossy or at least only semi-gloss?

ETA: thanks everyone for the suggestions (and the compliments!) and yes, don't worry, we will be sure to ventilate and I'll make the husband do it. :D

Hi!  I've been lurking for a month or so, and finally figured out how to post images and (hopefully) do a cut!  So:

I'm a first year pharmacy student, and broke.  For Christmas, I decided to get a little crafty with gifts for some pharmacy friends!

Okay, part of my 'winter goals' while I've got a school break was to learn to knit & crochet. I'm going for knitting first. I've found a few videos online & my grandma has some old pamphlets she's loaned me, but I was thinking of getting myself a shiny new book for the occasion, seeing as we don't have any recent knitting books.

What are your favorite ones that are actually worth the twentyish bucks you've gotta fork out for 'em?

Hello everyone!

I have a question that some of you here may be able to help me with. I am trying to figure out the best way to photograph my jewelry. I set up a little photo station at home, using some full spectrum light bulbs and a couple spot lamps. I have heard that it's good to diffuse the light from the lamps, but I'm not sure the best way to do this. Should I cut up some milk jugs or use certain kinds of filters or what? I've been experimenting with different backgrounds and different light positions and making a little progress, but I feel like I'm missing something.

Does anyone have any advice the help get a clear, acurate color, sharp photo of jewelry? I use sterling silver and lots of gemstones and crystals btw.

Thanks!!
