More Nerdy Goodness Under the Cut!! )
EDIT: Because I'm silly and didn't get my LJ cut correct the first time.

Please let me know if my image before the cut is too large. I sized it to 600 pixels wide, but I can't tell at all. I'm happy to resize it if it causes a problem.

This is kind of Part II of my last post (with the Dotee Doll). I made a deco/mini/friendship book thing for the same handmade item swap.

Photobucket

I had to read up on what a deco was, so I'm not entirely sure I've done the right thing, but I'm pretty happy with the results all the same.

On with the pictures )

I also wanted to recommend a book to everyone who is interested in making big and little books. It's called How to Make Books, and it's put together by the lovely people at Purgatory Pie Press. They give some really great instructions and illustrations related to making a whole bunch of different kinds of books -- sewn bindings, glued bindings, covers, cloth books, etc. It's great for beginners (like me!).

Thanks for looking and reading. :)

These are some oldies, but it's cold today and no matter how late in the season, a warm hat on a cold day is just...good.   These are some flappers and beanies I made a while back and a scarf I just finished for a swap last night:

2cm across.  Will add a tiny thread loop on top for earring parts.  What a quick project!  The funnest part is making the roots XD

Hey everyone! My name's Meg; I'm 17 and live in Minneapolis. I've always been crafty, but I'm just now starting to make things that I would feel good selling or giving to someone. So here are a couple necklaces that I've made in the past month.

my friend and i are making a headboard for her new room. as far as cutting the wood, using the batting, and upholstering, we're all set. but i was wondering if anyone knew how we should go about getting this look:

she wants to do like a diamond shape with the imprint. we're just not sure how to do it. should we use our staple gun and cover the staples with buttons? thats what we were thinking
any advice would be great

My first tote!!

This is my first attempt at a tote. I needed to do something with this fabulous Japanese canvas that I had been hoarding. I suck at patterns and tutorials so I pretty much winged this and I have to say I'm pretty happy with it. Tote+messenger bag=what a happy marriage!

wip it real good! )

For the first time, folks -- the Wild Gang! They may be confused but they sure are snazzy dressers!

My first attempt at animal print canes...not too bad, I think. I'm not so sure what they are, really. It's way too busy to be leopard but not stripey enough to be tiger.

I looked all over the internet for a simple, flat, knit heart, but couldn't find anything that wasn't poorly written. Or where the math was way off. So I made up this pattern:
I recommend interchangeable needles, for dividing sts later.
With any yarn, and the corresponding needle size, Cast on 2 stitches.

Row 1: K2
Row 2: P2
Row 3: K1, M1, K1
Row 4: P3
Row 5: K1, M1, K until last 2 sts, M1, K1.
Row 6: Knit 4.

Continue to knit as in Row 5 until you get to the widest part of the part of the bottom triangle (Imagine a heart a triangle with two half-circles inverted on top). I did it until I reached 20 sts. Should you reach an odd number of stitches, like I did when I skipped an M1, Just take your number of sts, minus 1, then divide by two. Knit across from that number, then do a M1. Put the rest of the sts on a holder.

First half of heart, or first half-circle:
Put left side of sts onto holder (I put ten sts on). Keep Right half of triangle on your needles.
Row 1: (Right half of triangle) K1, P2tog, K to last 2 sts, K2tog, K1
Row 2: Purl across
Row 3: When you have six stitches on the needles: K1, K2tog, K2tog, K1 (4 sts).
Row 4: Purl
Row 5: K2tog, K2tog, BO the two stitches.

Repeat these last rows on left side of heart.
Weave in all ends.

Voila!

Crafty horse peoples?

I has questions. I want to make a breast strap for my horse P. I found a style I think I could make, although it's mostly in eventing horses I see it used. I'd like to make one just to keep my saddle from slipping back on trail rides. I ride on these nifty trials that are super hilly. Makes my saddle slip back sometimes, sometimes a lot.

So it wouldn't be any real major usage on this. I'm sure this one is leather but I don't know where to get leather like that or how to use it.

What else do you think would work?

It's that white fuzzy thing that's going across the horses chest. I'm sure that's a fleece cover which I could make, lol without asking questions. If I could make a good one then I could make matching fuzzy covers for all my saddle pads.

Or something.

Hey guys, sorry this is text only, but I need some help!

Valentine's day is coming up, and unfortunetly I won't be able to just go out and buy candy for my boy, since candy costs money and I have none. So, instead, I want to make him something with what I've got in my craft room (it's quite extensive...jewelry making supplies, fabric, etc.)

He's a huge gamer nerd, and I'm not sure what to make for him. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Nothing's really making me happy. I'm pretty uninspired. I started making things- while listening to In Flames on a loop.

Want to see some necklaces? Sure you do.

Con-crit greatly appreciated.

But here's one with some great bright colors. Enjoy!
