Okay...i bought a notebook today and am going to start making a short list of "suggested" questions for people to answer regarding their crafting habits. People who participate can or cannot answer the questions...they'll just be suggestions in case you get it and don't know what to do to begin (artist freeze...we all know it).

So, if you want to be in on the notebook, here's what you need to do... )

I know a lot of people are into making duct tape wallets, so, I thought they'd find this interesting:
http://www.ducti.com
is a company that sells duct tape wallets, $15-25. I guess un-crafty people need duct tape love. But still, $15 is a lot, considering a roll of duct tape can be had for $1.

In the most recent Martha Stewart Living magazine, there's a small piece showing how to make a bandana apron. I decided to try it, and got a bandana i thought my mom would like for $1 at Wal-Mart, and used some ribbon i already had. I hand stitched it, because i figured digging out the sewing machine for this project would be more bother than it was worth. The picture isn't the best, but the project is quick and easy if you ever need something last minute.

i've got the rolling stone issue that came out soon after kurt cobain's death and about 15 pages i think are about him. i've already lost the cover so i am eager to get it somewhere that will ensure it's safety BUT still be readable by me and whomever else would like to look at it. any cheap ideas?

Yesterday was so great. I went to my first-ever Stitch & Bitch, and it was a total fun time! I forgot the pattern for the filet crochet piece I've been working on, and it seems the place I got it from has moved all their designs to pay-only, so I couldn't replace it. So instead, I started work on the bag I've been wanting to make, and managed to make a rectangle, about 8" x 15". The goal is to get to 36" x 15", then fold it in thirds to make the bag, like someone here did a few weeks ago. Sorry about not having any pics, but I've got no camera at the moment.

One thing I can say about the Stitch & Bitch, it's addictive! I can't wait for the next one. That stuff's worse than crack, yo.

Stickers

I am doing a project.
I need stickers...but it doesn't matter what they look like. I need little stickers. Like this size:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3124220485&category=11794
(like the size of the star ones)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3124261514&category=34016
(like all the stickers in the background)

I dont care if they are your ugly stickers or not. I dont care if they are cute. I just need as many as I can get.

I can trade or buy them from you. I just dont want to spend alot of money on them, that is why I don't care what they look like as long as they are smaller ones.

I am going to cross-post this to every community I can think of. Sorry if this fills up anyones friends page. *My apologies*

reply here or email me at ryan_princes_swimfan@yahoo.com

To trade I have: beads, bracelets, stationery, oh gosh...I cannot think of anything else right now..but I have tons of things.

So if you wanna get rid of your ugly stickers....here I am...

Think I could iron over polyfil and/or batting?

I don't have cotton batting, I have the other stuff (polyester, maybe?)...I have a grand idea in my head, but it would require ironing.

This stuff shouldn't melt, right?

I'm in a bind. I've made t-shirt transfers and they turned out pretty ok. It stuck on well to my shirt and hasn't peeled or faded or started to break down at all. Of course I wear the shirt about 2 times before I wash it in order not to wash it so much. I wash it inside out with cold water.

What I'm thinking is, I'm not grasping this concept of silk screening at all, and I think with my ability I should stick to transfers.

So then I was thinking of buying a transfer machine, (I wanted to start a small business) and I found ones for a couple thousand, ones for a thousand, and one for just under 300! Now, I used a flat iron and concrete for my shirt and I like I said it turned out ok, so I wonder if I should go ahead and trust this 300 dollar one, or save my bucks and get the 1,000 dollar one. Hope my business does well enough to make a profit and cover the costs.

Anyway, these are in my contimplations. Any opinions?

I made a spiffy new wallet yesterday, sorta like the one Guppygirl (I think) made. Anyways, I have been making duct tape wallets for a few months now, and this is my only real question: Is there any way to get that nasty duct-tape smell to go away? It just lingers and lingers and it friggin reeks. Any suggestions?

I know a lot of you sell your crafts etc... I do as well, and was considering finally caving to a paypal account. I had heard some friends say they had had issues with the service, including having accounts frozen for no apparent reason, so I decided to go digging around and see what I could find.
This website's review of paypal bothered me a little, and I thought I'd pass it on so the rest of you who are using/considering using the service would know about it.

1)hey i have this really cute dress that i don't want to have as a dress. I want to make it a separate top and matching skirt. how would I go about that?

2) I have a piece of fabric that I want to make into a skirt but instead of using zippers and buttons (it's really a flimsy material) I want to use elastic. Where can I get some and how would I do it?

I appreciate any help!!

I haven't posted in here for a few days, so I just thought I'd let you guys know what I've been up to.

1. I went to a Mexican restaurant on Friday and they had made salt and pepper shakers out of beer bottles. They just replaced the caps with rubber thingies with holes in them and put the salt and pepper inside the beer bottles. I thought they looked really cool and I want to make a couple. ;)

2. I know how to turn pants into a skirt, but is there any way to go the other way around? Turn a skirt into a pair of pants, I mean? I have a skirt that's an awful length for a skirt but it'd make some darling capris.

3. Still plugging away on my Harry Potter scarf, I'm up to 9 stripes and I'm very happy about it. My tension is getting really weird though. The right side of the scarf (it's in stockinette, so the knit side) looks fine but the purl side looks really....odd. Instead of the bumps (each row) being evenly spaced out, there's a group of one knit and one purl row and then a huge space and then another set of two. I'm obviously doing SOMEthing wrong but at least it looks good on the front :)

4. I made a duct tape dressmaker's dummy using instructions I found online - I think they're in the FAQ somewhere too. The dang thing still smells like duct tape and it won't stay up straight in the stand I made (still hafta fix that) but it's still pretty cool. I'll post pictures once I find some batteries for my camera.

5. I cut up one of my old t-shirts and turned it into a tank top that actually fits instead of hanging like a bag :) It's really comfy and, again, I shall post pictures when I get my camera's batteries all charged up and stuff.

6 (Gee, I've been crafty lately! This list just keeps going and going). I think I never actually posted pictures of my tieskirt I made a while back, so here is a picture of me modeling it. It turned out great. That lighting doesn't give it justice - it's much more colorful than what you see in the picture. Oh yeah, and I MSPainted over my face because you can see I'm wearing the typical Japanese schoolgirl loose socks so I figured a magical girl pose (okay, real human beings' legs CANNOT bend like theirs do o_O) would be cool. ;)

7. Does anyone have any advice for sewing beads to fabric? I want to put a heart outline onto the front of a halter top I'm making with seed beads. I assume it's as simple as poking the thread through the fabric, putting a bead on, making one stitch, putting a bead on, and so on. Am I right? Should I tie knots between each stitch so all the beads don't fall out if the thread breaks? What kind of thread should I use, anyway? And going off that question, what about making beaded tassels? I don't want to mess up and lose all my beads!

Alright, this has become long enough. Thanks everyone! You always have such great comments and ideas.

Look, my first post will be me going 'derrrrrrrr'.

First, a craft: my cool bracelet: how i did it )

Next, a question. I just promised my friend I'd make her a purse out of this material, but I remembered I was really hoping to make a tie out of it! (It's flame-y fabric). Oh well. I'm still asking: Anyone know where to get a pattern for a tie or any helpful tips in going about making one? I might just steal one from a boy I like and trace it & add some to the edges. Anyone got some help?

P.S. I also make really cool Mike&Ike boxes bracelets. If it can be made into a bracelet, I will!

for those of you interested in making duct-tape things, I recently went to home depot and found clear duct tape. Some of you might want to use that for the last layer to have images taped on underneath.
