Hey I happened to buy a really cool post card that I plan to frame (it's that cool) and I've been clearing out my room. I found another cool post card that I was going to frame, then I saw they just happened to be made by the same person. These are really awesome post cards that would look cool framed if you guys are into the style.

Alllllrighty. . . I need ideas!!

I just moved last week, and I REALLY want to decorate this house differently from any other I've lived in.

To say that this place looks 70's is an understatement. The bathroom counters are white with gold and silver stars on them, and the tub is avocado green. I have a fireplace and I've never had one before, so I'm having a little trouble deciding what kinds of things to put on/around/near it. I basically already know what I want to do with my kitchen, but the rest of it is completely open, except that I know I'm going to recover the couch and make new cushions for my bench and rocking chair to match.

I know you all are creative people. . .help me! (Please.)

Zen Garden

I caught the crafting bug last night and I made my very own zen garden :-D I'll post pictures when I get fresh batteries for my camera.

I used a little wooden tray [approx. 10"x 6" x 1.25"] that I found at Michael's for 40% off! I Mod-Podged origami paper to its surface and varnished it. Then I added a light brown design sand and some little river rocks. I made a rake out of a wooden shishkabob skewer and art wire and it works very well. It's tres fantastique and I'm oh-so-pleased with myself.

I want to go to an aquarium store and find a little mini pagoda like you would find for a fish bowl...

hi, i was wondering if anyone had any advice for me. i have 2 dress patterns that go up to a size 12. the measurements are correct for me everywhere but the bust (i'm rather big on top). i was wondering if there's any way i can increase the width of the pattern on the top only.

Flower box

I just made this box for my aunt for mother's day. It is just a basic wooden box you get at a craft store. I painted it purple a long time ago, for another purpose. I didn't like it too much anymore..so I sanded all the edges and distress-sanded in other spots, and then put antiquing medium on it. Then I just made a little border, put flowers on it, and wrote a favorite quote of mine on the inside. It came out a lot better than I thought it would.

I recently bought a tiny sewing machine similar to the ones seen on TV. It's called the "Dressmaker" and I got it at Canadian Tire. (If you're in the US and the site asks for your postal code, just use this one: M2N 1L8)

Does anybody out there own it or one like it?? Because I am in the process of making pajama shorts (my first project sewing clothes) and I'm having trouble figuring out how to backstitch on this machine. Is it possible that the function isn't included at all? Or am I doing something wrong? What should I do to reinforce my seams if there is no backstitch function? I am very new to sewing so any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks. :)

By the way, in case anybody is in search of a good PJ pattern, the one I'm using is McCall's #3856.

Today, my mom and I went shopping at Wal-mart so she could buy some yarn to crochet a baby blanket for a friend of ours, and I found Sparkle Mod Podge on sale. So, of course, I grabbed some. Then, we were at the checkout counter and I saw a Handy Stitch for ten bucks. I showed it to her to give her a visual (I'd been talking about buying one for weeks to learn the basics of sewing on a machine), and she grabbed one and bought it for me! I love my mom.
So, I came home, and since I can't quite get the hang of the sewer yet, I decided to have a little fun with the mod podge. I couldn't stand my kitchen clock, so I fixed it. It was a boring tan color with a white face. This is it now.

(please forgive cruddy image quality, my cam sucks)
I painted it all with Apple Craft Acrylic in Fuschia, then mod podged magazine clippings onto the face, painted the hands with Apple's Petunia Purple, then covered the whole thing with two more coats of the mod podge. You can't see the glitter on these images, but it's really awesome looking in person.
And that's my crafting adventure for today.

I'm becoming an avid paper arts fanatic lately and I'm trying to amass a respectable collection of tools/techniques/things in order to do all different types of paper arts: eyelets, decorative scissors, different paints, rubber stamps, different kinds of glues, etc, etc, etc. I'm particularly obsessed with getting my own rubber stamp alphabet at some point because my handwriting is less-than-great for the most part.

The problem, though, is that I'm a poor college student, so I'm constantly trying to figure out ways to get ritzy effects without spending top dollar on various tools and embellishments. And the other day I figured that there must be some way to go about making my own rubber stamps. I mean it seems like it'd be easy enough, right?

And so it is!

my luck with it so far )

wallet

Does anyone know of a good pattern for a wallet online? My wallet was lost and the altoids tin I've been using is begining to overflow as I replace the things I'd lost. I'd like to be able to keep change in it as well, and I'm not sure how to sew a pocket so it still lies flat. I want this to fit into most pants pockets, ideally. Danke!

has anyone ever used fabric mod podge? i believe it's a relatively new item, but i was wondering how effective it was to modpodge an image onto a piece of fabric. it seems easy enough and if it works i'd like to try it (i'm beginning working on some handmade clothes and accessories now so i'm trying to get things in order.)

thanks!
