hi :)

i'm in the process of replying to all of your amazing comments; thank you so so so much! i appreciate all the luck, hugs, kisses, etc. etc. it means more to me than you all know.

as for the hats: if you have extra time and you feel like making me one, and you haven't commented, my email is lolofive@aol.com. email me and i'll send you my address.

for those that i have or soon will have sent my address: thank you. you are great. you will all be receiving something special from me when i've received the hats and know your address, or, of course, i will send you the money i owe :) i ask that you send me something with the hat: a picture of you, your handwriting, anything, because in my hospital room i'll be hanging a poster with signatures/pictures of everyone that visits me. i think you guys count :)

also: soft yarn, fuzzy stuff, fleece is good. wool is bad, i am highly allergic. my color preferences are anything: funkiness, combos that you think wouldn't work but really do. anything. i want some of your style in the hat :)

as for the pictures i was supposed to post, my dad's digicam is a little craphead, but should be fixed by tomorrow. today i made some sexy-ass guitar pick earrings, some like the girl posted before (my inspiration: thank you :D). they're fun. my guitar-playing boyfriend loves them. tehe.

so much love to you all,
loie

I'm a beginner at this whole crafty thing, but here's a couple of projects I did a while ago.
I bought a hatbox for a couple of dollars at Ross and decoupaged it.
And here's a box to hold some of my craft supplies that I made out of an old record jacket that I got from the Goodwill for 99 cents.

Edit: Eep, maxed out my bandwidth :(

How do you make a V-neck on a shirt? I have troubles with it. It's so hard to get the point where the two lines in the V intersect to look good.

uM Any tips on doing it better? I just cut the V and fold down each side. .

does anyone know of any good websites with instructions on making an a-line skirt?

i know of the getcrafty one but it requires that you already have an a-line skirt that fits you well... which i don't. :P

i wanna make one that looks something like this.

thanks guys!

I have a friend that lent me her "Jessica Rabbit" dress. Only thing is I have funky shoulders or something that makes it look funny on me so I'm thinking about throwing together something similar to a shawl...suggestions?

It's a deep red with glitter/sparkles all over it. Full length and kind of tight on the top and waist.

whee!

i've never posted anything here before because i'm always afraid its not cool enough/im horribly shy. .But i'm Claire and i like making dresses.
My latest one, thats from one of the butterick retro patterns(#6582) just seems like it needs a little something more to make it perfect, and thats why im posing it. its supposed to have a belt but i haven't found the perfect buckle yet so once thats on i think it'll look cuter.
but is there anything else i should add? change?

Unfortunately my Budget Living subscription didn't kick in til June/July, so I didn't buy the April/May one (I thought I'd be getting it). I did, however, peruse the issue at the bookstore and I remember one of the projects was how to make a big outdoor fountain. If anyone can scan in the page and send me the instructions, I'd be oh-so grateful! I must say, for everyone upset by ReadyMade, I'm pretty happy with Budget Living!

Well, I dont know if anyone has posted about this before, and I dont know if its in the communities memories because Im not exactly sure what this would be called..but I'll go ahead and ask anyways. Is there anyway you would be able to transfer a picture from something such as a magazine onto a shirt or something of the sort??? If so, how would you go about it or where could I learn more about it?

hola!

I need some creative ideas from everyone. You guys are great at this. It doesnt matter how crazy it is, i'm bored senseless.

My dad just built a deck and we have TONS of extra wood. some are long, some are short, and I dont want to waste them. I'm already gotten a long skinny one and I'm going to paint it white, decoupage it, stick nails in it, and make a bag/purse holder for my room. I'm not too talented with a hammer so please dont tell me to build a birdhouse. I was also going to do the same thing above, but use it to hang my necklaces and bracelets on it in the bathroom.

thanks and all opinions greatly appreciated!

CHOW!

Hope it's ok to post this here kimmercake!

I'm taking submissions of your handmade goods for a zine/catalogue hybrid called Orange. I'd also like a few submitters to contribute a small article on their crafting experiences. No DIY articles, as I feel that has been done in every zine created already, but crafting stories. Could be how you got hooked, could be a memorable crafting experience, could be how you started someone else's crafting 'journey', anything really as long as it's related to crafting. I won't accept everything, but don't let that keep you from submitting. You don't know what I'm looking for! :) I think it's a great opportunity for all you crafty people out there to get your stuff seen, and maybe even get you a little business. I've posted other more important details in my journal, so please go there to see them if you're interested in submitting anything. Deadline for submissions is August 31, 2003. I'd love to get this out for fall so please submit soon. Send submissions to: Orange_Zine@hotmail.com

As far as my duct tape adventurings go I've only ever put together a wallet. However, I find myself in need of a shoulder bag that I can use to carry around a DiscMan, approximately 10 CDs, and a sketchpad. Before I break out the roll of duct tape and go nuts I thought I'd check around Google and various LJ communities and see what other people have been doing (especially since I don't have my heart set on a specific design yet). Unfortunately it seems that nobody else has attempted a couple of the design features I'd like to include:

My mothers old singer sewing machine has pretty much had it, and I don't want to take it to be repaired. I am planning on buying a new sewing machine, but I don't really know what to look for since I am just a beginner sewer! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I was looking on the walmart website for some sewing machines, and found these that seem pretty good. Anyone have any thing to say about these machines, or things to watch out for, and things to make sure the sewing machine has?
