Even though I'm a busy college girl, I'm still finding time to craft, and that makes me happy. I knit a hat that I'm going to give to my dad for Christmas, but I love it so much that I'm going to make myself one as well.
hat! )

I also made two sets of armwarmers. Actually, OK, I lied, I made these a while ago but I just got pictures of them now.
pics of both )

I also knit a set of armwarmers for my sister from rainbowy vareigated yarn and they came out awesome. I'll post pics of those eventually. I'm ALSO working on a cool shirt and a set of rainbow armwarmers for myself. Oh, and my last current project is a pink and purple pom pom hat inspired by [livejournal.com profile] bjorkdoll's. Next on my list is mittens for my mom and some other stuffs.

Yay crafty stuffs!

Oh yes, and this was partially crossposted to [livejournal.com profile] craftgrrl_sale.

Hi all,
I have a small dilemma: This past week I have been working on beading a pearl necklace for someone. All was going well (a simple project which shouldn't have taken me very long at all) until I got to the final part where I needed to tie the end of the necklace quite close to the pearls to avoid a lot of extra space between the pearls and the end of the necklace. With pearl chokers like the one I am making, it is very important that the beads be tightly tied, so there isn't much slack for them to move around.

I am having trouble tieing a knot like that though. Every time I try there is always at least an inch of slack. Help! I am utterly frustrated!

Does anyone know how to tie a good knot very close to the beads? Or can anyone point me in the direction of an easy to understand book on jewelry making?

Thanks in advance.

Yours sincerely yours,
Jane

Tiny Pouch Naked Fairy Design by Vicki Star I changed the colors. Next time I think I'll leave the fairies flesh toned but still give them hair colors that match their wings. I just used some dyed texas fossil & 10/0 seed beads for the fringe. 10/0 seed beads for the spiral rope. Pic shows it pretty darn close to actual size.

Basic drop web dream catcher with 5/0 seed bead & 11/0 hex beads.

Hey, LA-area peeps!

I am helping to organize an upcoming punk rock craft fair here in the LA area. It's been held twice in Boston thus far to much success, so now it's going bicoastal! The target date is December 13 (same as the Boston event) and it's gonna be a late afternoon/evening affair-- a good excuse to shop for cool handmade holiday gifts AND socialize. (To get an idea what the past events have been like, check out the site here, though so far it only has info on the Boston events.)

Sadly, the place the organizers had in mind to rent for the occasion is booked that day. So, I need suggestions on VFW Halls, convention centers/rooms, Elk's Clubs, church basements, WHATEVER you can think of so's we can book a place PRONTO. The cheaper the better, natch, cuz then we can keep the rental price for tables down, but if you can think of ANYPLACE, I wanna hear it. Now, I can do Google searches all I want, but it's better for me to get recommendations from peeps who know LA a little better than myself, cuz I've only been here a year.

Also, if you are a dependable, reliable LA-area crafter want to get involved (we need all sorts of volunteers!), let me know. I'll e-mail you with info and/or add your name to the mailing list.

If you're interested in renting a table, leave a comment and I'll add you to the mailing list that's being compiled. Keep in mind that if you are in NoCal, this is a rad event to travel down for!

Any ???s, lemme know! Thanks in advance and please forward this message to anyone you think might be able to help or who might be interested in attending!

Hi! I'm new, sort of. I used to belong to this comm last year, but that was at the height of the marble magnet drma and I got annoyed and left. I recently organized all my crafty stuff, and it inspired me to make a couple things. First, I made ten million sponge balls. )

I have this bag here, and I would like to cover the logo with something else. The problem I run into is the zipper pouch on the flap. If I just stick in the sewing machine, I would be sewing through the pouch. I was looking for some ideas to maybe stick on it, or even paint over it? I like the bag, but don't want to advertise my job that I hate so much.

It looks like this, but the logo is about two inches below the zipper. The logo itself is about 3 inches high and 10 inches wide. Please help.

Elle Girl this month has a free iron on patch (little mushroom, love or shooting star) and a booklet with some craft ideas. :)

Lots of it I personally don't like, and I'm clearly too old for this magazine (23 next week :)) but it has some cute ideas, notably a scarf with felt shapes (little cabin, pine tree and mountain with snow) on it. :)

Hey everyone! I decorate canvas bags with fabric paints, but my squeeze bottle paints are goopy and runny. Does anyone have suggestions on a good fabric paint brand with a smooth paint application (or any tips in general)? Thanks :)

(x-posted to [livejournal.com profile] crochet & [livejournal.com profile] craftgrrl)

I finally finished this purse I mentioned on the [livejournal.com profile] crochet community recently. It's a red purse with a white stripe and red stars, made as a Christmas present for my best friend. I started it maybe two weeks ago when I was babysitting, had to unravel it because I lost two stitches somewhere. Started it again when I was in the mood and had to unravel it AGAIN because I lost a stitch somewhere. So put it away for a while. Finally started on it a couple days ago, finished it and made the stars (which are stitched on), but was too lazy to stitch the stars together. Finished it up just now, so yay.. complete purse. I might put lining in, but we'll see how much extra cash I'll have before Christmas.

I am making snowflake themed gift baskets for my extended family for christmas and I need some more crafty ideas to put into it.

My thoughts of contents so far include: crocheted snowflake ornaments, lavendar cachets in blue baggies with snowflake accents on the edges, beaded snowflake ornaments, white candy diish with snowflakes stenciled on it, snowflake print paper made into cones that hold mixed nuts, snowflake shaped sugar candy, snowflake sugar cookes.

What else could I make?

Here are a few t-shirt reconstructions and the latest bag I finished.

My stencils came out pretty awesome, I have two pics and they're a decent size, so Im putting them behind this..
Click here for visuals and details )

Heres the bag, its pretty emo. I think I did a good job though. Solid black fabric lined with white/red striped fabric. Red felt broken heart on bottom. This bag was customized for a friend.

Hello all, I am working on my website currently for a (of course) craft page. I have about 12 projects and show offings of mine. But where you come in is this:

If you would like your crafting website/section of your website to be on my site, it would really be appreciated. A win/win situation, actually. So please post your site and I'll link it.

Needed: a title and an address.

And also, I know there is someone out there who has a site that I really remember. It had a birdcage lamp and the beckground was really neat thick stripes. I can not, though, find it that well, so if you would be so kind as to post it, please do, because I really like it and want it to be on my site.

Also, craftgrrl will be posted.

Going to Michaels tomorrow with my mom for a birthday shopping trip. After all the hats and scarves I've seen on here I'm going to try to srtat croceting (sp) and knitting. I also want some stamps, ink pads, and whatever draws me to it.

What are your essentials, or what would you recommend a newbie crafter with time on her hands and the will to experiment?

Quick responces would be great cuz I'm going tomorrow!

I have this nail stencil thing...
It's a little sticker kind of thing, you stick it on your nail and just paint it in...once it's dried, peel it off and tada, you have your star, heart, whatever shape the stencil is.

Problem is, after a while, the sticker stops sticking and nail polish seeps onto the sticking part and of course, it gets less sticky-er [a word? =/]

Do you think you have a solution? Hope so =/

Thanks in advance.
<3 Happy crafting!

Help! I have a magazine cover that I want to frame as a present for someone, but it's got a subscriber label stuck to it. I was able to peel some of it off without messing up the picture, but I'm afraid to try the rest. Is there a secret trick, or is it hopeless?

Thanks!
