Okay, i'm totally addicted to my sewing machine. I ended up going to Joann's today, and they were having a mega sale. Bought some fabric and some fake fur and made THESE!!!

(It was completly inspired and copied from [livejournal.com profile] fivestar's Hello Kitty hat and scarf idea. Thanks so much!) I just didn't make it totally hello kitty. Anyway, it's going to be the PERFECT present for my best friend! I'm so excited to give it to her!

i noticed that no one has actually posted pics of their chocolate dipped spoons...unless i've missed them...so here are my chocolate spoons!

Oh, i forgot. This is the blanket i started making. It's making me look pink crazy, but it's got a purple-blue border that goes with it. I'll post more pictures later.

I was suspected of having caught a virus and got sent packing home to rest early. Well ... having bought my fusible webbing, there was no way I was going to go to bed without doing something with it. So ... I made felt coasters!!!

Has anyone ever tried to grow their own loofahs? They look so neat; I was wondering how well they'd do in my climate (Victoria, BC) since most sites I found said they are popular to grow in places like Florida. According to this site, our growing season is roughly 200 days long; the first frost is Nov. 5th-ish, and the last April 19th-ish, so I don't think that's a problem, but is it hot enough? Any first-hand experience would be GREAT.

So this isn't just a question:

I finished one incense burner for my relaxation basket that I posted about the other day.

Hey craftgrrls...I have a problem. I was ironing some "Wonder-Under" (that stuff you iron to the back of fabric to turn it into an iron-on -- often used in quilting and for making sorority letters) yesterday, and apparently some of the fusible material got stuck to my iron and to my ironing board cover, thereby transferring onto my husband's shirt as he ironed it this morning. Does anyone know how I can get this stuff out of the shirt? I think it's off the iron now, and I can easily replace the ironing board cover...but I feel really bad about making the boy ruin his shirt...

OK thanks guys!

I found this idea while looking for something else and thought it was a clever idea that could be adapted to make a cool present, or even to package/hide a present within a present.

i made this binary calendar for my computer programmer boyfriend for christmas.
it's on 14 pages of cardstock.
i can't figure out how to bind it together in a way that it can hang on the wall and not look awkward or fall apart.
suggestions ? also, where would i get supplies?

thanks.

hello. christmas is fast approaching and although i already have my mother's gifts, her birthday is right after christmas so i want to get a start on those gifts too. i would like to make her a scarf. i bought a nice ecru/natural looking yarn yesterday but i want to make her a nice feminine scarf. i don't think she would enjoy one of those skinny scarves but if anyone has a nice pattern for a woman's scarf that's not boring and plain please pass it along to me! thank you!
btw i can knit and crochet but i would prefer a crochet pattern.

I really liked the poncho-shawl from last fall's knitty, so I modified it and made my own:

kindly ignore the fact that it is past noon and I'm in my jammies

and for the close up: )
I basically knit a rectangle 20 X 60 then folded it and sewed another side. Fringing was a b* though, and took a good 2 hours of my 'sick day'. I think the weird denim yarn looks really cute in this pattern.

Hey hey. Maybe not necessarily crafty, but I figure someone on here may have answers!A friend gave me a foot scrub recipie that she loves and swears by. It's just Vaseline, white sugar, and either vanilla or peppermint extract. I think I'm going to make it for some gifts. My question (that she couldn't answer) is how long do you think it would keep? Not that it would go bad but I would hate to have someone open it 3 months later and have foot funk instead of foot scrub. Also, anyone else try this? She just loooooves it. Thankies in advance!

I just moved in with my boyfriend and I want to do something special for his birthday and Christmas, so I'm painting his office (color of his choice) and since he is getting into woodworking I was planning on cleaning out the garage and making a workarea for him (pegboard, metal shelving, etc).

So here is the "crafty" part. I've been really getting into the DIY Scrapbooking show and was thinking about making a card that symbolized both things. I connect samples of paint chips with a star shaped brad. I was also thinking of doing a garage on a pull tab type of style so that he pulls the tab to raise the garage and sees a woodworking area. But I don't know how to do pull tabs. Any advice?

Also about that metal shelving. The things in the shed are rusty, and I was wondering if I scrub them with a wire brush would I be able to spray paint them?

I got my magnets, the E6000 glue and now the flat, clear marbles, but the marbles have so many bubbles in them. I guess I shouldn't have bought them at the Dollar Tree. Will this make the images impossible to view? Are different colors better? Are the ones at Wal-Mart or Michael's better marbles?

Sealants?

I'm painting a box for Christmas for my sister. I'm using a regular cardboard box and acrylic paints, and some stickers over the acrylic paints. My question is this: what kind of sealer do I use to keep the paint from chipping and the stickers from coming off?

hello! :)

does anyone know if they allow knitting needles on planes?
i'm pretty sure they don't but i just want to double check...

and if the answer is yes, they ban metal ones...
would they not allow you to bring wooden ones?

THANKS in advance :)

coloured sugar to buy online or in the uk? or even in the us, as long as shipping is cheap.

I made a scarf for the bestest best friend for christmas.
I used Lion Brand Homespun yarn...*swoons*
After I make the rest of the scarfs, I am making my own.
I have 4 more to do and I am going to make each one different.
My sister-in-law is going to get a purple, white and pink one-varigated homespun yarn-and around the edges I am going to probably put like a neon pink border with that eyelash yarn...anyone ever se that before? How is it to work with?
Anyways...sorry about the pictures. I have a cheap camera and I took the pictures in my bathroom.
I was so proud that I wanted to show it of.
Oh yeah, I decided a plain one was so boring, so I added hand pockets at the end where she can put her hands in to keep them warm...or it would work well to hold her cigarettes-yucka-or a candy bar YAY!
Whatever works...and if she does not want the hand pockets showing, just turn it over and you cannot tell.
Enjoy!!!

Hi y'all,
I've been searching for an early issue of ReadyMade to complete my set, and found a bunch of issues currently for sale on eBay (except the one I'm looking for, of course).

I thought I'd let y'all know in case anyone's been looking for an issue...

(This is really just a public service announcement, feel free to delete if anyone is offended or considers this "selling.")

okay, i want to make marble magents but i'm not sure hwt glue to use.
i found a huge jar of "Glossy Finish Podge-It Plus" from White Rose in my cupboard, but i'm pretty sure it's about 9 years old. Would it be okay to use for marble magnets or would it make them look funny, either because it's
a) glossy
b) podge stuff
c) 9+ years old?
[identity profile] phoenixcrunch.livejournal.com
So how do you gals store your crafty stuff? I have some big tubs for my soap supplies, but it seems like everything else just turns into a box of junk after a little while.

Are you lucky enough to have a crafty room?

Or a dedicated closet?

Just curious, mostly.

so an idea just seriously hit me. i have this friend, beth, who likes to crosstitch. so, i was thinking of making her like a beginners craft kit type deal with crosstitch patterns and such inside. maybe it is a stupid idea, but i think she may enjoy it. but, my question is. what all should i put in it? i kind of want it to be a crosstitch/getting crafty kind of basket deal. so, i was thinking, scissors, modge podge, hot glue gun (necessities!!!), and some crosstitch patterns. also, maybe i could find some little jewelry making kit type deal. do any of you have any other ideas? it would be extremely helpful. thanks in advance!

edit: this has nothing to do with my above thing. but, i just thought i would inform y'all of this great thing. my mother, who blatantly copied off my grandmother's christmas tree this year bought some ribbon to wrap around our christmas tree. she wanted a bow at the top. so, at ac moore she bought this thing called Bowdabra (completely hilarious name). it cost like 15 bucks, i believe. that is quite pricey, but totally worth it. anyways, my mother is obssessed with this thing and is making bows out of everything. there are very easy instructions that come along with it, and even an instructional video. and, if my mother can figure out directions (who cant even read a map to save her life), then it must be easy. anyways, i thought i would just let y'all know of this thing in case any of you were wanting to get into bow making.
