For all of you hard core DIYers and frugal folk, here is a page that tells you how to make your own knitting needles from hardwood dowels that you can get at a hardware store. I just might go this route, as I want some shorter needles than the ones that I can get locally, for when I'm making scarves and such, plus it'd just be cool.

Is anyone familiar with this glass cutting tool that supposedly turns beer bottles, soda bottles into drinking glasses by cleanly cutting off the top part? I think I saw one once at Michaels...but maybe it was just all a wonderful wonderful dream. Can anybody help me?
Thanks!

sorry for posting so much in the past few days :]

I didn't find this in the memories/faq.

Is there a better way to apply loose glitter to something rather than "Elmers glue, glitter, shake off glitter, repeat, save excess glitter?"
Its for a skirt, so preferably washable. If not.. that's okay, I can always re-glitter :]

anyone know what I can do with some white pipecleaner? I have some leftover from when I made pew bows for my wedding but have no idea what to use them for now. I had thought about mixing it with red and wrapping around a candle holder but I don't have any red in my apartment and Valentines Day is well past so that won't work. I also thought about coiling it up and putting some sort of design on it and gluing a magnet to the back and making magnets out of them, but I really have no use for magnets nor does anyone else that I know of. I also don't know how much I have left, but I think it is just about half a package.

any ideas?

Hey everyone, I've been lurking around a while but this is my first time posting here. You guys have great ideas :) Anyway, my boyfriend just started his new job and works all night, so I've got alot of spare time on my hands now. I also have a baby on the way, and I would like to make a baby blanket, hats.. anything really. But I haven't the slightest clue as to how to knit or crochet, and I'd like to learn how to do both. So I was wondering if anyone could reccomend me some good websites for beginners? Thank you so much to anyone who helps :)

I checked the FAQ and didn't find anything relevant.

I'm doing a 2 page layout over kitschy lawn decor and thought this might be a good community to ask for help. Does anyone know of any sites that offer kitschy lawn decor and/or ornaments? Along the lines of plastic flamingos and lawn gnomes? I've searched and googled but I just keep finding gazing balls and sun catchers.

If this post is unacceptable please notify me and I will delete it.

Yesterday, I transfered a photocopy image onto acrylic paint, and I was wondering if anyone knows if I tried ironing it on to a tshirt if it would stick or if you have any other ideas of adhering the image onto a shirt?

I'm going to be decorating my living room with an Alice in Wonderland theme. Any suggestions or ideas?

I was thinking a Mad Hatter Top Hat lamp, but I gotta figure out how to make the hat first. I saw somewhere on here or Craftster on how to make a card curtain, and I'll be doing that as well. I was thinking of making a caterpillar out of different colored round pillows, maybe? Also I'll be painting some white roses and some of them half red or splotched red or whatever.

Ah, also, almost everything needs to be moveable. We (husband and I) plan on moving out of this house in a few years and dont want to waste our hard work.

Thanks for any ideas!

(I posted this at Craftster.org, too)

I told my brother I was going to make him something for his birthday, which is March 19. I asked him what kind of interior decor he would like if he could choose anything. He said, "camouflage." I asked him what symbol he thinks represents him. He said, "a cobra."

Honey, I can't find the toilet....OH MY GOD! What IS THAT?!?! )

does anyone know how one would go about putting a tiny hole through metal? I have some earrings I want to remake, but they're all metal without any holes. And I need some holes to put split rings and what not into.

Thanks in advance.

I've got a ton of medicine bottles, the orange prescription kind, any idea what I can do with them besides store things in them?

I was thinking about making a bag out of left over unstretched painting canvas... I'm pretty sure it's fine to use, and would surely be durable... But I just wanted to double check to make sure it was a reasonable "fabric" to use... So yeah... Would it be fine to use???

Hello everyone,
I'm pretty new here, I've been reading this community for a few weeks now and I have to say all the things you make are so lovely and creative! Very nice.

Anyway, I have a question (obviously)... I want to make wings, and apparently the best wire to use is 14 gauge wire. I accidently bought 18 gauge wire though, which I think is a bit too bendy... So, do any of you have any idea how to uhm, stop it from bending? (after it is in its right form)
I hope my question was clear enough and not too silly, sorry for my bad English :P
Thanks in advance!!! <3

I made my first hat! And a matching scarf!

US 10 circ. needles and DP needles, 1 skein Lion Brand Home Spun yarn for both projects. I worked on these over a 2 week period.

when working with polymer clay, is there anything special you need to do to make it adhere to metal surfaces? i didn't see anything addressing this in the faq.
