On my last post lots of folks were wanting a crochet rose pattern...
I haven't got around to writing out my flower patterns... and I think right now I may not have the time to do any more work on patterns until after the holidays!!

My flower designs are all variations of traditional Irish crochet roses but I work them so they are fuller and more 3D looking than the flatter style of Irish crochet. Most crochet stitch guides have a basic Irish crochet rose, you could mess around with the basic idea and see what you can come up with...

Knitty.com has a pretty crochet rose pattern (the flower is at the bottom of the page) Theirs is made using a different technique but it gives a nice 3D effect.

I dont know of any other good looking flower patterns and believe me, I have looked everywhere!!

Thanks for all your nice comments about my work everyone!

Hi ladies. I was wondering, if I have a 50% off coupon and want to buy yarn with it (several skeins of one and the same type and color), would the 50% be only one one skein, or on the whole batch?
I need to buy quite a bit of yarn and want to know whether it'll be worth my time to go to Joanns for it or go where I know the yarn's a little cheaper at regular price.
I'd appreciate an answer today, as tomorrow I'll be shopping, one way or the other.
My thanks ladies and gents. Hope everyone has a lovely day ^_^

Hiya everyone-
I am hoping for some help/ suggestions...(hope it's OK to post this here)...
I had a dream last night where for my boyfriend's 30th birthday, I made him a scrap book about our life together (we've been in a relationship for 6 years)...
I really think I may do this, and I probably had the dream because I spend so much time on Craftster.org!
So, please help with suggestions for a first time scrap booker...I am thinking of looking around at the local Michael's, Jo Ann's, Wal Mart, etc. for supplies.
There is no shortage of photos, concert tickets, notes, do dads, etc. for me to use, the problem is more putting it together cohesively and creatively.

P.S. I'm a little stressed about this as his birthday is November 8th...will that be enough time??? If not, he's just getting that beer- making kit after all! lol

Sunday through Monday my husband and I are going to Chicago. My husband promised me a FULL DAY of going to any number of craft stores I want and spending AS MUCH AS I WANT. Imagine the GLEE!!!

Anyway, I need a nice list of shops in Chigaco. Preferably hidden ones, small ones, family owned ones... ones that aren't major stores. I like those the best.

I just learned to knit today, so perhaps someplace with a lot of yarns?
And I do jewelry... so a place with a lot of beads? (I just got into it the last month!)
And of course A FABRIC STORE!!! :D And some candle shops?! And some... okay haha, I just do everything!

So can anyone name any really cool hidden crafty stores in Chicago? (If you can, street and # too?! :D If not, I can look it up and plan out a whole day's map!)

psst, rhiannon rose? (I forgot username)... I can pay you $50 today but I need your e-mail. Mine is morrigan at the website venom-dolly dot org so you can send it to me.

I did it last nigh and it was my very first try with
1. sewing a zip (withouth a zipper foot, ouch!)
2. using interfacing (thanks to my actual boyfriend's mom, who is a seamstress and gave me tons of adhesive interfacing for free, yay!)
3. cutting and sewing felt appliques (appliques in general, indeed)

I am pleased with the result, even if I don't know what my head was thinking about, telling me to use contrasting stitching for the zip and even for the bobin thread! (you can see yourself from the pic how this magnificate my perfectly straight seam) :) But I keep learning from my errors more and more.

Any feedback is welcome!

Checked the memories, nothing that looks like it would help me. I didn't find much info on Google, either.

I have some DMC Perle cotton thread I want to dye. I want to do painted/variegated colors. What dye works good for this and how should I do it? I thought of RIT, but they really don't have the colors I was looking for, and I don't want to order something online and have it shipped from another country (withn the US is okay).

hey guys, i hafta do this family history deal for a history project. one part of it involves writing a journal loosely based on a real persons experiences immigrating. My mom has some old envelopes of letters sent to the house my....great grandfather? built and they have a stamp and stuff on them. Soooooo I kinda wanted to maybe replicate an envelope and stick it in a page of the journal (i decided to make/bind my own journal). I was wondering what would be the best way to make an envelope brown and very antique looking. I didnt give the memories a real good look, sorry, but I dont have time. I didnt really see anything that seemed like it would help me.

hi folks! I checked the memories and posted this in the quilting community, but they're a small group over there, so I thought you might be able to help me too. 've never quilted before, but I sew a lot, and I've been entertaining the idea of making a quilt from old corduroys (thin wale). Would corduroy be too thick though (I've heard of some people making quilts out of felt, so I wasn't sure)? I'm used to sewing on my mother's old, tough sewing machine, but now that I'm at school, I only have access to my roommate's Kenmore mini ultra. I don't want to ruin her new machine, so would it just be best if I did the squares and batting by hand? I know not everyone is a quilter here, but I thought I'd throw the idea out to you all since I'm sure some of you have made some fab creations out of cords. any advice you could offer will be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Okay, I'm familiar with the basics of wing making using organza and mesh and paper... And I'm also pretty familiar with the products on http://firefly-path.com, I've been following their site for *years*. I'm making myself a pair of wings for my sea faerie costume for the renaissance festival, and I had a question about a few pairs of wings they've made. I've read some places that the material they used to make the wings is sticky on one side and you just fold it over the wire frame(?) If this is the case, where would I buy such a material? I work at Jo-Ann's and I've never seen it there. And if it's not the case, what type of material is it, and where would I buy it? I think it's some sort of pearlized cellophane or something...?
This is the type of wing material I'm talking about:

Please note the picture and products shown in this image are copyright to Lillyxandra and Haruka of http://firefly-path.com , if you are interested in such products you should visit their site, they make wonderful, beautiful creations. Hope one of you can help me!
