ATTENTION SCRAPBOOKERS

Hi, I'm working on my second ever scrapbook. It's going to be a seasonal and monthly theme. It's already coming along a lot better than my first, some of which i threw together last minute. I was wondering if any scrapbookers had any favorite scrapbooking websites. Thanks a lot.

I am planning on making pajama pants for three people for Christmas, but my question is this. If I buy a pattern (most that I have seen for PJ pant cover XXXL - S) would it be possible for my to cut out the pattern for my biggest size needed (XL) and then cut down the pattern again and use it for the other size needed (M). I would think in theory it would be ok, but I just wanted to get some input from someone that may have done it before.

I am not the best a using patterns, but I suck and freestyling pants.

Thanks in advance for all of you input!

I was just wondering if anyone knew of anywhere in Toronto that I could buy photo emulsion. Preferably downtown as I tend to be down there a lot. I've been looking, but can only usually find it online.

Edit: And by Photo Emulsion, I mean the stuff you use for silkscreening.

I need to take some pics of some crafts I've done. I have one table in particular that I made using some of my photography that is amazing. Will get on that soon.

How important is it to trademark your crafty business name? It's over three hundred bucks to file an application to trademark something!!

Hello! I've been spying on this community ever since it was mentioned in the [livejournal.com profile] hip_domestics  community a few weeks ago. You grrls are so talented and creative. I know I can get some good ideas from you. I would like some help with a Thanksgiving centerpiece, but I want something kind of hip and crafty. I'm having Thanksgiving at my house this year with my parents and my in-laws. I'm in grad school, so I don't have time to do much cooking, but I at least want to make something pretty for us to look at. It can't cost much money. I didn't see anything in the memories, but I easily could have missed the correct category!

And for your viewing pleasure, my Christmas wreath:

(I'd put it behind a cut, but for some reason every time I try putting a pic behind a cut it doesn't post!!! I'm so sorry!)

My boyfriend is dragging me to prom this year (ohmygodi'mgoingtobetwenty!), and I'm planning way way way ahead, because I want to make my own dress. Seeing as I graduated two years ago, I don't want anything that screams "OMFGI'MGOINGTOPROMAHHH!". I want something simple, yet sexy and elegant. I fell in love with this ) dress from peachberserk.com, but there's no way that I could afford it. Do any of you know of any patterns for similar dresses? Any patterns for any nice dresses would be appreciated actually... I live in a very small town with no roads out, and it's almost impossible to find decent patterns here. Thank you in advance!

All of the mitten scarves:
They're all made of fleece and are about 120 inches long and about 6 inches wide.

Most of my latest crafty endeavors )

So that's it for now.
I'm sure I'll be posting some more stuff after I get back from Georgia.
I'm going to be teaching my aunt how to knit!
Enjoy!

Made a baby gift for my old theatre teacher.

She's having a girl named Audrey...and since thespian colors are blue/gold, i thought it was fitting to carry that theme through to her youngins. (the legs/muzzle are more orangy than pinkey...unfortunately it photographed differently)

Details, links, etc. - very pic heavy )

Been playing with my new sewing machine (janome QC6260) today a little , made this top:

Nothing too taxing but it was good practice on my new machine.
All the seams have been finished with a really good finishing stitch, had a little trouble with the stretch hem at the bottom (what kind of stitch can I use that will appear like a straight stitch on the outside but will allow more 'give' to the fabric?? without using an overlocker??)

i hemmed a pair of my boyfriends pants. i cut them first (bad bad), because there was way too much material, but i over estimated a little bit (dont ask). so i had to finally make a very small hem. the fabric of the pants seems to be delicate and it's already fraying. is there anything i can do now that i'm done hemming? i really dont want these pants to be a lost cause!

thanks in advance

the other day i bought over three yards of seersucker fabric on ebay for only $6.00 & this led me to wonder where do you ladies (& gents) buy yr fabric? i'm a big fan of funky fabrics and prints and always looking for interesting fabric to work with, especially if they're reasonably priced. so where do you purchase yr fabric? online? in thrift stores? please share!

Okay, so I have this boyfriend/ex-boyfriend/good friend... Ah, I don't know what we are right now, it changes every time we talk. We WERE pretty serious, then he moved a zillion miles away, and now he's moving to Alaska. Anyway, there's still lots of mutual affection/ good termage/what have you, and I still want to send him a Christmas present. However, I'm poor, and while I want to send him something meaningful I think it would be weird and in questionable taste to give him a romantic-type present. And then I came up with this great idea!

He really loves wall hangings. Those tend to be expensive. But then I thought I could use some really pretty batik fabric, a bleach pen, and some cool stencils and circumvent the whole expensive thing. The problem is that I've never stenciled anything, and don't know where to get the stencils that I would need. I don't have photoshop or any comprable programs, so I can't really make my own.

Can any of you lovely craftsters out there help me out with stencils of the following?

Cool Buddha stencils
Lotus stencils
Om shanti om in sanscrit stencils
shapes or patterns that would make a cool border
Holding the Jewel mudra (or an mudra, really) stencil
Absolutely anything else along these lines

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I looked in the memories and I couldn't find this, but here's my question:

Is it possible to buy real gold hooks (like the part that goes in your ear) for earrings? If so, where can I get them? I ask this because I've tried wearing sterling silver, but irritated my ear lobe and any jewelry with nickel/iron in it...I guess you could say the cheaper hooks...make my holes fill with green stuff as if it's an allegeric reaction. I don't want to spend a lot of money, but I would like quality hooks.

Also, what would be the best beads to buy for beginner earrings? I'd like to try to make earrings, but sadly I have no idea where to start or what to use.

thank you for all of your help in advance.

YAY!

Hey. I just finished my first bag. It took me a really long time, but I'm pretty proud of it. Turned out way different than what I wanted, but it's still cool. And I sewed a zipper on for the first time too :-D

WARNING: Lots of BIG pictures! )

(Wearing it isn't an option. I am a rather football-player-built kind of person who does not translate well to girly clothes.)

I am told this is a sari It's 4'x8' and the camera flash makes the detail a little yellow in some pics but it's really glass beads and silver metal coil-tubes on silver thread. It feels like poly/silk blend, is quite heavy, and cost me $30Cdn. The cornerpiece photo here is right on for colour. I want to do something with this that involves Not Ruining It. Help?

Anyone know where I can get a free pattern, or am I going to have to buy that stupid halloween Simplicity pattern from wal-mart?
Even just a good site with large pictures so i can try to figure out my own pattern.

hello!
i was working on my bag...sewing a really LONG stitch, it took forever to pin in place & i started to stitch, i was more then halfway to the end & BAAAAM my bobbin runs out of thread.

so my question is...do i have to use the seam ripper to undo all the seams? or may i just begin stitching from where i left off & do a back stitch? or would that make my bag fall apart? would the seams be durable?

thanks! ♥

Finished another blank book. This is the one I posted about earlier, where I had the dilemma of binding single pages. I ended up doing a stab binding, but messed up my original covers. :( Fortunately, I had bought extra paper for covers (I was originally planning to make two journals, but scratched that), so I used the paper to redo my covers. Cream-colored ribbon was used to do a Japanese stab binding, the pages are neutral colored cardstock, and total cost of the project was roughly $6 (with lots of paper still to spare for stationery, cards, or another book!).

Giving this as a gift most likely on Christmas to my cousin's family to use a photo scrapbook of some sort. More photos behind the lj-cut.

*photos leveled in PS so that the book colors turned out almost exact

Hi there. Long time member...but not really. I have been away from LJ, but now I'm back!

Anywho. I have a question!! ((I DID search the memories, but could not find anything))

I need some ideas for a way to store pins. ((not simple round ones. I think people refer to them as "brooch"? Various sizes and weights. I'm thinking of something to hang on the wall, with individual clear pockets ((they must be in view...)) I have no idea what fabric to use, or clear plastic... I...I...just don't know!!

You ladies are wonderul. So creative. Please help!

making earings! I had a lot of fun. I guess I bought kinda cheap wire though, since my fingers stink, but if I ever gain some talent, Ill invest in quality stuff.
Until then:

Cut off here )

I simply cannot wait until christmas to get my sewing machine! I have a few projects lined up already. Mostly new purses/bags and aprons though. <3 xox
