I'm taking a Media Arts course at my school, and one of our assignments was to silk-screen a shirt. I made two shirts based on the movie The Crow.

The problem is that my teacher loves it when we present our work creatively.

(For example, I did a collage on feminism, and to present it I cut a giant female sign out of cardboard and stuck the collage in the middle of the circle part.)

I cannot for the life of me think of any way to creatively display my shirts, and this project is WAYWAYWAYWAYWAY OVERDUE!

I'm desperate for ideas.

Help?

dear wonderful crafters,

i am currently designing a trailer for a table top art artisan (aka: somebody who sews). however, what i need is some action shots of people sewing to photo merge into my computer models. does anyone have some shots of them doing the following:

- sewing
- knitting
- spinning
- quilting
- working at a craft craft fair (or a craft fair itself)
- camping (because my user groups camps as well)
- biking
- anything else crafty/camping-y

these photos are only going in to my school project, so only about 15 students and four teachers will see them. so if you're wanted in 3 states, nobody will find out.
if anyone can help me out, please send photos to me at (EDIT!) amnoclue@temple.edu
white backgrounds are a super plus.

i love you all. and if the photo merges come out alright, i'll post it here, because i think a craft trailer is something hip and fun and we could all use our own so we can travel around to craft fairs all summer long.

Hey everybody,

I just got an old, ugly (but still functional) child's booster seat for free tonight. I picked it up for my niece, who will be ready to start using it soon. It's just like those plastic moulded ones you sit on in restaurants, and it's a blah-looking institutional beige color. I was thinking I could dress it up with some bright colored paint and then she'd be the boosterin'est kid on the block!

So...
What kind of paint would you recommend? I was thinking perhaps acrylic, and then seal it? It's got to be able to take a beating *and get washed/wiped fairly frequently. (You know, kids + food = mess.)
What might you recommend using for the sealant?

Thanks, all! :)

PS - Cool Crafty Tip: I received the seat (and many other cool potential craft things) from my local FreeCycle Yahoo! Group. If you are looking to make treasure out of someone else's trash - check it out!

Im making shit loads of gel candles for xmas (just bought a 25 pounder of Penreco) and I was wondering what kinda embeds are safe. i checked sites and they say no wood no plastic yadda yadda but my bf was playing around with them while i was at work and realized he could put patches in there with no problem... I cant find any glass embeds (like, for example...the fishies or dolphins for the sea scapes) I tried Joanns, Michaels, Crafts n Stuff...etc. Also, Ive been tryin to find solid color opaque marbles for a candle im making and I cant find any..tried the craft shops, walmart, even the dollar stores...I thought "well, maybe if i buy a chinese checkers game I can homebug them outta there..but the only chinese checker games i found didnt have the marbles they had little pegs instead. And last but not least...anyone know where I can get beeswax sheets not ONLINE...I mean, online is fine if i absolutely have to, but i figured since xmas is right around the corner Id like to have everything asap... Title: Topless Mittens
Inspiration: Weekend Knitting pattern
Reason: I needed a portable project and I had all the supplies on hand!
Comments: They were so easy to knit I even made a pair for [livejournal.com profile] erike! Mine turned out to be too big for me, so I felted them the lazy way - threw them in the wash (hand wash cycle with cold water) and hoped all would work out in my favor. I wouldn't recommend that method, but it worked! I wear these all the time - they are very comfortable and good for mild temperatures (like in Seattle, WA). Here is a picture of me wearing my lovely Topless Mittens during our Thanksgiving Decathlon - this is the most "Seattelite" I have ever looked.

I would like people's experiences with Cafepress, and whether it's been worth it or not. Heck, I don't even know if my stuff would fit in, but that's another thing I'm wondering. Is it focused mainly on shirts/mugs/etc., or are all works of art welcome?

Thanks for any info...and if it IS mainly the things listed, are there any other places like it that cater to other mediums? Thanks!

Hello! This is my first post in this community :)
I made my best friend MC an altered book about Texas for his birthday. I did a lot of painting and colouring with coloured pencils and I used pictures I found on the internet. It has 44 pages, too many to show all of them. So here are only a few of them.....

I just learned how to knit (and perl), and am on my second scarf. One of my coworkers found out and wanted to know if I could make her a hat from this movie with Bill Murray. The hat looks like its a simple sailors cap that's a little long so that it forms a bulb at the top of the hat when worn.

I vaguely remember seeing a pattern on www.knitty.com for a salors cap but cannot for the life of me find it. So my question is, where could I find a pattern to recreate this hat and how difficult would it be to do (being an absolute beginner and all). Do I have to pick up special needles? Any advice?

Thanks for any and all advice you can give. I'd love to try this hat as I'd like to increase my skill with knitting, but don't want to set myself up for failure or her up for disappointment.

First post ever.. yadda yadda..

Here are some pictures of crap I mean, stuff I made for the craft show a couple weeks ago.
The magnets sold pretty well and the bags sold pretty not at all.
Stupid old people audience.
I think I would have done better if the craft show was for 20-somethings and teenagers.
Or maybe that's just an excuse.

Anyhow! Here're (can those two words be conjuntion'd?) the book purses and clutches I made:

These were a bitch to make. And don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I just sewed some little purses with flaps, I guess that is what you can call them...last weekend. I'm having trouble though knowing where to sew in handles and also how to make sure every edge is sewed before you sew the whole thing together. (hard to explain, but easily noticeable)

I'm running low on funds this Christmas and I've decided to make purses and such for gifts to my sisters for presents.

Does anyone have any tutorials for purses/handbags? Also any for cute fun things to make?

for christmas, i bought tickets for my boyfriend to see a comedian that he really likes [[ron white, in case yr wondering, he's on comedy central a lot]].
anyway, i don't just want to put them in a plain ol' card, or just hand them to him. what would be some crafty ways i could go about giving them to him?

here are the prototypes of my non-photo winter 2004 holiday cards. made from various colored cardstock and bristol papers, glue, paper punches, and sewing thread. i'll be making more once all my final projects and stuff are out of the way. i also knit up two hats.. might post photos if i remember before wrapping them up (i used the martha stewart pattern rather than the h2o hat).
