So, I made a shirt in about four hours, after not having sewn since I was around 10. I had a lot of help from my roommate, but it was mostly my own work. It's for Renaissance Faire happening in April. I plan on making an entire wench garb set by then.

I also finished knitty's eyelet a long time ago. I've held off on posting picture because a combination of my weightloss and being dumb means that it's too big for me, which makes me sad, because...well, I love that skirt.

I recently came into ownership of a rock shop. When my mom bought her new house, she also bought this little garage in the back. It turns out that it used to be the old rock shop in town and they left all their rocks. I have flat rocks, small rocks, crystal rocks, and just about every other rock on the planet.

Are there any fun crafts I can do with them? I know about like decortaing flower pots or things like that nature with it, but I want to know some more fun things.

Thanks!

P.s. I'm going to be making about 15 cigar box purses becuase the garage is also filled with those too!

I am attempting my first lace pattern, and I am having trouble with my yarn overs. Can any of you suggest a web site that has clear instructions on how to do a yarn over? I watched the video at Stitch Guide, but the example is done with English style (which I don't use) and the stitch isn't completely executed, as far as I can tell. I know I should probably be able to figure it out from the video, but doing new things in knitting freaks me the hell out.

Anyway, I have a male friend that has been learning to knit. He's very close to finishing his first scarf and I have the following conversation with him this morning:

Dpurdu (8:41:05 AM): im going to have to get you to show me how to beat off soon
Dpurdu (8:41:21 AM): i only have a tiny bit of yarn left then my scarf be finished
B to the Ethy (8:42:28 AM): BIND off
B to the Ethy (8:42:30 AM): bind.
Dpurdu (8:42:35 AM): not beat?
B to the Ethy (8:42:35 AM): NOT beat. >_<

i am trying to make a scarf using this wicked cool cross hatch pattern, but for the life of me i can't figure out to do the one stitch essential to the pattern! it's written as psso, and the only definition i can find of that is Slip one stitch then knit the next two together and pass the slipped stitch over. and for the life of me, i can't do this. can anyone here break it down into simpler terms for me? i know how to slip a stitch, and how to knit two together, but i'm not sure about the passing the slip stitch? where do i pass it to?

thanks in advance!

Hi.
I stenciled a jacket and stupidly left the stencil on it while the paint dried.
Now I'm trying to remove it and there are these cute little pieces of paper stuck around the edge. I appreciated them when they were a part of the stencil but I don't really want them on my jacket. Does anyone know how to get rid of them-slash-have any ideas on how to do that?
Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaankyouverymuch.

I have a 9-foot roll of super-cute ribbon. It's striped in various shades of brown and light blue. I had plans to make hairbows and a choker out of it, but what can I do with the rest of the roll? It's not wide enough to make a ribbon belt, sadly.

I decorated a couple of boxes as gifts for friends. The hello kitty face is the first time I have tried out polymer clay. I had a lot of fun with it and I think I am going to play around with it more this weekend.

Hello surgeons! For my graphic design class we need to create and design a preted magazine geared toward the 20-30 somethings of today that they would find interesting. The project consists of a cover, table of contents, and around a 3 page article that we have to write and design. Obviously, I am doing mine on the current DIY craze in life and fashion. Here is where you ladies and gentlemen may come into play.....

I made this gift basket for my friend for her birthday. It contains strawberry bubble bath soap and strawberries and cream milk bath. I also included two candles, a strawberry and rhubarb and white gardenia. It was a lot of fun to make the bath goodies, I can't wait to make more in other flavors. Watch out christmas time this year, I am already getting ideas!! The bath stuff is nice too. I made a test sample for myself to indulge in! Love it.

This is the first in a series of fabric postcards...

1st in a series. Made from a crazy quilt top. This is 4" x 6" and is embellished with Czech and Japanese seed beads, bugle beads, silver and bronze beads, vintage buttons, embroidery, sequins, couching in acrylic yarn and lots of hand quilting. Batting is 1/4" thick and backed with purple and white gingham.

In a drunken state Wednesday night, I tried to make a shirt with an iron-on decal. In my stupor, I printed on the wrong side of the paper, which I discovered when I went to iron it on and the decal was sticking to the iron. I pulled it off pretty quickly and redid it, but now the iron doesn't... I don't know... glide anymore. I've tried cleaning it with water and again with alcohol. Nada. I don't *see* anything on the iron, so there's nothing to scrape.

Any way to fix it or should I just toss it?

what do you think is a reasonable price to ask for that purse? as far as materials go, the outside is gray polyester suit fabric ($7.50/yd) and the lining is cotton broadcloth ($2/yd, it was on sale!). it has a strong magnetic snap closure and stiff lining. the applique is acrylic felt and the thread is a cotton/polyester blend. it took me about 1.5 hours to make. it's very sturdy and well-made.

i've been able to price all my other purses, but i'm having a hard time with this one. i guess it's because i just like it so much.

thanks in advance.

Detail )

I suppose I've started some sort of series. I did this one generally the same way I did this: http://www.livejournal.com/users/fem21/4937.html#cutid1 except with circles, not squares and I haven't put any words on this one yet, and there's obviously birds not girls on this one. But yeah. :)

Jeans have never fit me and probably never will. If they're long enough, they're too loose and vise-versa. I was wondering if there is any way for one to take in their own jeans? Has this ever been done? ;)

okay...i read each of the posts in the memories section and have been searching online for at least an hour about this but still have no answer. how much must a photograph be changed in order to avoid copyright infringement? my situation: i convert regular photographs into stencils and paint them on stuff. i have recently been considering selling some of my pieces but do not want to break any copyright laws by doing so. i have not been able to find any solid facts or guidelines as far as how much a photograph must be changed to be considered a "new" piece of art. any help or guidance would be TRULY appreciated. thanks everyone!

Today I made a new purse. I used black fur I got at Joanne's (for 50% off! - it only cost me 7$/yard). Yay for fuzzy purses! Though.. after making it there was black fuzz stuff EVERYWHERE. x.x;; It wasn't much fun cleaning up after it..

Hello all.

Yet another question for everyone.

Does anyone know the type of "fabric" that is usually behind sequin patches? It doesn't necessarily have to be iron-on, either.
Also, where I can get it at would help! :)

It looks like this if I suck at descriptions:

Thanks in advance!

i bought this 90210 on ebay over two years ago (a complete impulse buy, of course) and i finally made something with it today.

Oh Crafty Lords and Ladies!

I'm tossing myself upon your mercy! I'm getting married in August and want to come up with tremendously cool/hip/unique/crafty invites. I'm only having 40 people, so I don't need to worry about doing them in huge quantities, so I'd have no problem with it being rather involved since I have a few months to work on them.

I need to make sure that there's enough room in the invite itself for a couple of inserts.. one explaining how to get to the site, the other explaining what a handfasting is and what it entails as to not freak out the non Pagan types.

My theme is midsummers nights dream

Any ideas? Anyone else make their own invites?

Help me, Obi Wan Kanobi... you're my only hope.

*hangs head in shame* I'm such a geek. *sigh*

i am running a table at a local craft fair. it's my first one(not till june though) and i'm a bit nervous as to what a throng of people will actually buy.
just a question that everyone could answer please?
-if there is decoupage box depicting the poem "the love song of j. alfred prufrock" would you be able to recognize it?
-same question but for "one flew over the cuckoos nest"?

i'm just trying to generalize with what is most known and without eliminating the artsy part of the process. i really don't want a box with louie vouiton on it simply because it's popular. so please tell me whats recognizable?
thanks!! and pictures will follow!!!

Hi,
I'm stuck in the middle of my first sock. How do I "Sl 1 K"? Does it mean Slip 1 Knit like I think it does and if so how do I do that? I checked stitchguide.com but already know how to slip and to knit but don't know how to combine the two.

Thanks!

Hi !

I haven't done many crafts lately I've been too busy with work and college. The last craft I did was making my grandmother beaded snowflakes.

I made this(

1st Image, 2nd Image) in remembrance from when I went to Destin,Florida for Spring Break. I made it out of sand and seashells that I collected on the beach. I glued some of the shells out on the outside of a vase. Then by accident my cat knocked over the vase but I didn't have any shells in it just sand. I guess from the static of the vase the sand stuck to the sides on the inside of the jar so I rolled it around so the sand would spread evenly out then I sprayed hairspray in on the inside to make the sand stick. Then I made a layer of sand on the bottom and arranged the seashells on top of the sand and sprayed it with more hair spray. I like the effect of the sand on the sides of the jar it goes with the seashells I glued on the outside. I'm just amazed that the sand has held real well just with hairspray it has been about a year.

I know you cant really see the sand real well, cause my digi cam is crummy ><' so I apologize for the quality of the pictures.
