Lots of stuff, including a purse, a necklace inspired by two I saw on here recently (I can't find the link to save my life, unfortunatly), and much more.

Photobucket is being stupid as well, so two of the pics are rather large, and I apologize for that!

The lust of my life wants a messenger style bag like this:
http://fractalspin.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&manufacturers_id=11&products_id=19
Too bad I don't lust after him in the $75 dollar way...HaHa

Anyways...it says it is disks glued onto a vinyl handbag. What kind of glue do you think would be best to use on it? Superglue? Hot glue gun?

Also...can you sew vinyl? Because I want to make my own bag pattern...and then line the inside with cute fabric or something...something more exciting then black vinyl.

I want to make mine in messenger style, not tote bag style.

So that way...he has to think of me everytime he uses it..HaHa

Hey,
Ive just recently (read: yesterday) started out with polymer clay..

Ive made a necklace for my mom with various beads and a pendant and im currently making a butterfly with beads hang in front of your window decoration thing.
(sorry, no pictures, i only have a crappy webcam x.x and then pics are so blurry usually you "kind of get the idea" but not really.. xD)

Ive made both using my own skinner blends (i have no pasta machine xD so it takes a while to make one.. )

but! what do i do with the leftovers? I usually dont use all of the cane, and then im left with a little stomp of the end of the cane, or the front part where you can see that the clay is rolled up. I really really cant figure out what to do with them, i mean, i could just throw them in the oven, but then what? o__0

I dont want to throw them away either..

Maybe this will help some of you folks out with making your own labels, maybe it wont. Either way I thought that I should share this with you. These are the steps I took to making my labels.

I have been making a whole lot of crap since summer began. I started crocheting when I was 10 and I've done it on and off since. Since I saw all the neat new yarns, I've picked it up again and made some cool gifts and stuff, but I've also got a lot of yarn just sitting around being pretty and waiting for me to use it up. :X

A ton of pictures of projects - cut to ease the loading of your friends page. )

I've been making jewelry to sell at the new local witchy/herb shop. When I pay attention to complementary combinations of the metaphysical properties attributed to the stones, they tend to sell rather well.

Text only post, i know, i just haven't had the time to be crafting these past few weeks with work and the Pseudo In Laws visiting. *grumbles*

But, i am in need of some ideas.

A friend of the family's mother passed away last week and this woman was a crazy crafter. Her daughter who is friends with my mother, decided, since she knows my mom and i are crafty ladies, to give us all of her mother's left over crafty stuff.

Well, i wasn't prepare for the amount of "stuff" that his woman left behind.

I pretty much snagged up all of the yarn - six bins worth of the stuff - three of them full of what i would call 'scrap' yarn. Anywhere from about half a skein worth to just a few yards, if that of yarn.

I had been contemplating starting a "never ending" ripple blanket with the scraps - but wanted to see if any of ya'll had any other ideas on what to do with this mass of scrap yarn.

So, ideas?

For the love of god, the yarn is screaming my name and i HAVE to do something with it!!!!

Text-only question, sorry.

What is the best kind of iron-on transfer for cotton-blend t-shirt? What do you recommend?

Links and/or directions on where to get them would be very useful.

Can anyone give me hints on using zippers in lined bags?

I've done zippers in clothing, but I'm looking for easy instructions on inserting one between the outside and a lining in a bag. When is the zipper sewn in during the bag construction, etc?

Thank you :)

Well I have been thinking of entering a art show that is in a few months. The artists in past years have been absolutly jaw dropping good so I have been feeling really nervous and scared to give it a try (who wants to be the one that people point at and say "this is what not to do when painting" lol, even though part of my brain knows that it isn't at all likely to happen. I have been really scared to take that leap and even try.

Well this weekend I saw down with a nice large canvas and thought I would do a autumn green man on canvas (like the one I painted on that basket) well the more I worked the more I found out that this painting had a mind of its own and while it wasn't turning out at all how I planned it that it was fun and different in a whole new way. I keep waffling back and forth between really likeing it (which is highly unusual when I first do a painting) and thinking I need to change it totally or gesso it over and start over from scratch. One of the things I am thinking of doing if going over the painting with a yellow/brown wash to dull it down a bit as it is very bright and festive. Lee says I should also lighten up the red above the green mans left eye but I am not so sure. Well without to much more yapping from me...

Here is a progress pic and then the final (so far)

i seem to have found my niche, in a way, with these....

i've decided to do a series of boxes based on the mad tea party, from alice in wonderland. these are the first two - the cheshire cat and alice.

and a word of warning, the photography on the cheshire cat box *sucks* - i think everything was so shiny that i just couldn't.make.it.work. but hopefully you'll be able to at least get the idea...

*smooches*

and, i'm about to try my hand at byzantine chain. any tips from all you jewelry makers out there? i'm very intimidated!

So this is what I made with some of it... )

Crafty(ish) find of the day!

VistaPrint.com will print up to 250 business (or personal) cards for free, as long as you allow them to print their logo on the back. They also offer free address labels, business magnets, and other assorted things that could be really useful for distributing your hand made goodies!

katherine

katherine is just a little girl, or at least she was a little girl - before The Incident of course. katherine was a very promising student at a very prestigious boarding school. oh she was very bright, but unfortunately also very lazy. one day while finally setting to work on a terribly large paper(due the very next of course,) she noticed her sweet kitten napping in the window. suddenly she wished very very hard that she was a cat, for cats never have to write very long papers, or do much of anything at all. unfortunately one wish-granter or another was paying attention and poor katherine found herself expelled from school and taunted daily. she now spends all of her time searching for bits of string and sideshows with vacancies.

(sculpey and all the usual things. her ears were sculpted to her head in one piece. i actually remembered to paint dainty silver buckles on her shoes, which of course dont show up)

does anyone have any experience with making porcelain dolls? I want to make three boy ones but I'm not sure if it's easier to make them from all the parts in craft shops or find three cheap already made one and just redo them.

I looked on ebay for some cheap ones but they are all girls so I'm not sure where else I could look for cheap ones to redo.

any suggestions would be great.

One of the examples I have drawn up for the upcoming classes I'll be teaching

Class example for the Posie pillows

When I first pitched this idea I mentioned I had seen sayings such as 'Rehab, sweet rehab' if they wanted something not quite so saccharine.
It went over like a lead balloon.

All hand stitched, some french knot action around the purple silk, backed in some dark green silk velvet, stuffed with poly fill and some lavender buds inside that.

And the saying is latin (or is it French? 'Vous' seems French to me), it means "You and no other".

Cute, no?

I bought the awesomest skull beads at a gem and bead show a couple weeks ago. I don't do much beading, but when I saw these I knew I just had to have them. (The whole show was incredible, though- next time it's in town, I'm saving up for it.) I've made two necklaces with them so far:

My sister thinks they're kinda creepy. )

I still have 4 more of them, too. Whee!

I actually got something done - amidst all the totes and boxes of scrap yarn - but this craft has nothing to do with yarn!

I finished the Midsummer Wreath in time for our celebration tomorrow - so far three out of eight Sabbat Wreaths done.

This one was simple, it really has no rhyme or reason since we just wanted it to look pretty much resemble a summer wildflower bouquet.

Amidst the flowers are butterflies and hummingbirds.

Flowery goodness... )

So either my needle on my sewing machine committed suicide or I'm a murder....

I'm making an awesome possum pattern from McCall's for a messenger bag and yesterday I started sewing the pieces together. I had a thin piece of interfacing, the fabric and a piece of velcro being sewn together. About a third of the way around the velcro piece, my needle breaks in two. Now, I've sewn velcro (a softer piece) before onto two thick pieces of felt and had no problems. Am I making it too thick? Should I just buy another needle and try again? Do they make a stronger needle? I really don't feel like going through 6 needles just for the velcro pieces. Help!
