I've been making these hair-clips for a while; they are a bunch of the folded fabric flowers we've all been making, other fabric flowers, and various beads and buttons. Hope you like them! Ask questions on any of them, they are numbered for your convenience. :) clips )

Hello,

This is my first time posting here, I should really post some of my crafts, but ... *shrugs*

I will be going to an Alice in Wonderland party in a few days, and I wondered if anyone knew where I could find a free pattern for the Alice costume, or even a pattern for a dress that looks similar (big circle skirt, princess sleeve, round neck, apron)? I've been up messing around with google for the last hour, trying to find something. I may be an English major, but I suck at stringing words together to make coherent searches.

I might try to make the Alice from America McGee's "Alice," which is a video game where we revisit Alice, but now she is older and wields a huge knife as she tries to save Wonderland. You can see a picture here. All I would need to add would be the knife, some embroidery, gloves, and fake blood.

I will post the dress when I'm done with it (I have about three days to find the pattern, buy materials, and make it, eeeep, procrastination).

Thank you!

I have this lovely ring bearer pillow that my future husbands mom gave us. It's the one they used at their wedding. Only problem is, it's ivory. Everything in my wedding is white white. (Doing a snowflake theme)

Do you know of something I could use to turn it white without killing it? (Bleach would kill it right?)

I am so not domestic

Pleaaaaaase help! :)

*EDIT* It's made of an ivory satin with ivory lace all the way around it..

hey-oo, crafty girls.

i'm in a pickle-- i teach a fashion class at my local boys and girls club, and i am sans project for my class at 2 today. the class is an hour long, and we need an easy, quick project. we have lots of random supplies, such as beads, felt, glue guns, markers, etc. We also have a load of red sox tshirts that were donated. anyone have any ideas of how to turn a tshirt into something fabulous? i have an idea of turning it into a slouchy bag but i'm having a hard time working it out in my head. any help is greatly appreciated!!

I hear tons of stuff about secondhand stores on here.

My question; I live in the New Haven area of Ct.. does anyone know any stores around me? More specifically, I live in NorthBranford, between North Haven, Durham, and Wallingford..

Any help?
[identity profile] cmora77-03.livejournal.com
thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you

i saw lots of great idea and now my list for the craft store just got alot longer... there is so much stuff that i want and now i want to get stuff for the kids i watch

i have such a migraine - and i work 12 hours on both monday and tuesday -- today i get to leave around 4ish --

but i got saved - the girls are going to the other girl's house (i was watching the family's three kids and then one of their friends -- plus for the last couple weeks i also watched anywhere from 1 to 3 of their cousins that were in town) -- so all that is left - is the son and the baby -- the sone will play video/computer games -- and i can put the baby down for a nap

thank you again for all you help -- -- and as soon as i can borrow/buy a digital camera - i will be putting pics up of some of the stuff i have made

I have this couch in my boyfriends lounge area, that we both love because its so comfortable, but its falling apart literally being held together by Duct Tape. Does anyone have any suggestions (besdies buying a slip cover and throwing it away) I do not want to spend alot of money to make it nice again, just something simple.

I finished! These are the completed Christina Aguilera canvases for my friend's Birthday on Saturday. If you didn't see my last post for my first two canvases, go here (http://www.livejournal.com/community/craftgrrl/6531411.html).

The glitter looks kind of weird because it's still drying, as is some of the paint.
And I'll have to take off some of the excess glitter in random places.

I see you shiver in antici....pation. )

Chick with the painting bookshelf problem again.... and this one may be obvious to many of you, but since I'm a rookie, here goes:

Thanks to you guys, I've got a much better idea of what is going on the bookshelf in terms of painting and decoration... but now I have to actually buy a bookshelf to decorate (I would make one, but the projected costs are the same and I only have 9 days to complete the whole thing now)... at Michael's, a little wussy looking wooden shelf is 50 bucks and isn't even big enough to hold anything but a bunch of paperbacks. This is not conducive to a college student's textbook storing needs. Walmart has one for 30 bucks and it's big enough, but it's "engineered wood" (thus I'm guessing half plastic) with an "oak finish."

So my question is, is it at all plausible that I could use the cheaper, more appropriate one provided that I'm going to be using acrylics on it? Will it be ok to paint and then seal, or should I just splurge for the natural wood?

Thanks for any and all advice. Good thing I put this off until 9 days before D-Day, right?

Well I joined a swap on another LJ community for a fabric monster (I have seen some really incredible ones online) and didn't think about the fact that I don't have a sewing machine and my hand sewing leaves a lot to be desired :( I worked on it all day yesterday and I am really afraid that the person I am sending to will be disapointed which I really don't want. Soooo what do you guys think is she an ok monster? :)

Ps - if your LJ name is xdisillusionx please don't look behing the cut :)

I've had a lot of days off work lately (very slow) so I've been crafting. My only completely finished one is my frame so I figured for my first post, I'd post it (my fav. project so far)

I have big calves. Sometimes I just feel like writing a letter to these companies that make all their boots for skinny-legged people. One or two different fittings wouldn't go amiss!

ANYWAY.
I just won these boots on E-bay
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
They are lovely and make me feel all funny inside *but* I can't get the last inch and a half zipped up thanks to a combination of unfortunate genes and a love of cakes.

So I was thinking of taking these to a cobbler and asking them to try and fit little elasticated inserts. Does anyone know if shoe repair places generally offer this kind of service (I'm in the UK if that makes a difference) and roughly how much they would charge? I don't think it would ruin the boot to have a little sliver of stretchy stuff behind the zip on the inside, what do you think?

I've been working on this guy for months! On and off, of course. It was boring. I like it, though, and it was the first thing that I really knit for myself. I used different colors (it's not really raspberry, now is it?), and instead of just knitting the straps in stockinette, I used I-cord. I think I-cord looks cleaner than having the stockinette curl under... Anyway, here it is, the seams aren't perfect, and the lining has some defects (that the camera hides!), but I hope you all like it anyway. ♥

today i finally got around to buying, painting
and antiquing a frame for this cross-stitched piece that
i designed and embroidered two years ago while living in London:

the design is 3.5" square in a 5" sqaure frame.

the saying depicted was found one evening whilst perusing an
old compendium of 19th century knowledge. the book was great;
there was a huge section in it devoted to phrenology.
it was loads of fun at parties.

I hate text entries as much as anyone else, but I neeed help.

I recently watched an episode of Crafters: Coast to Coast where a crafter named Victoria Ikpoh make a polymer clay and wire japanese necklace. She had all of her necklaces displayed on something that I can only describe as a large metal carousel with places for her to hang each necklace individually. Did anyone see this episode? Can you help me find a picture of that display, or do you know where I can get one?

I even went so far as to e-mail her about it, but she found it pretty much abandoned, and has no idea where it actually comes from, or what it's called. I could really use some help.

This is the only picture I can find of the darn thing, and it tells me NOTHING. =X

Hello!

I've been lurking aorund a few communities, getting my craft on, borrowing from tutorial, etc. I keep noticing, in several blogs I frequent, that people will "swap" stuff with each other - kits for making things, odds and ends, monsters, fabrics, tons of gorgeous stuff in a little package. I think this is the NEATEST idea ever, and I've been itching to swap with someone. I wondered where you would reccomend I go to do this. I'm interested in swaping little kits and packages of fabrics/beads/scraps/general craft stuff you think is cute. If any of you are interested that would be cool too :)

I'm just trying to get my creative juices flowing, trying to get inspired.
