New sewing machine is here and holy crap I'm soo happy.

Teflon presser foot is my friend. I can't even believe how much easier it is to deal with the vinyl now. I whipped out this bag just to try out the new machine, I used polyester canvas as the lining and that's a bit of a pain to work with.

Bags!

I wasn't going to post pictures until I was done with all of these, but after I posted pictures of my Fall Out Boy bag on a FOB community, I was commissioned to make a few more for various people. So I'm not even completely done with the second one but I'm so in love with it that I'm sad it has to go. So I got excited and took pictures to post, because my roommate is asleep so I can't show her.

Quick Question:

Does any one know? I accidentally picked up regular laminating paper instead of cold laminating paper. Can I do it with a iron and some wax paper or does an iron not get hot enough to work?

Hello!

Long-time lurker, first time poster. :) I adore everyone's beadwork here, and you've inspired me to integrate it into my main addiction, which is scrapbooking. It seems to me that bead bracelets would make great borders... the flat ones, at least.

I've looked thru the tutorials but there's nothing for a clueless beginner like me. :( can anyone suggest where to find simple instructions and starting projects?

Thank you so much!

I'm not a frequent poster, but I would LOVE feedback; you guys are always great for it.

Now, if one was to say, sell this at a craft fair, what would you ladies deem to be a fair price?

So yeah, I want to make a shirt like that, but I would like to have it longer (to my waist) and preferably have the main body one peice. Actually, if it was possible, the whole thing from one peice.
If it's not possible thats cool, too- but I really suck at sleeves.
What shape should the sleeves be?
How do I attach them successfully?
Gah I feel like this should be such a simple question that I just can't get!!

An Inquiry

I have a ton of little hard cardboard shaped boxes from the holidays. Chocolate boxes, things gifts were in, etc. I love painting them and turning them into strange creations, jewelry boxes, etc. I just have a question. What would be best for getting all the labels and stickers off to get to the base of the box. I know I’ll most likely be putting on a very thin coat of gesso to smooth it out. I read somewhere that your supposed to use nail polish remover for this. Has anyone done this before? Does it work well? If any of you have used anything else please let me know. Also, do any of you have links to idea’s of what you have done with little boxes and things?

Puff skirt?

How would one go about making a puff/bubble skirt?

You know, the type that sort of curl under at the bottom and have a puffy rounded bottom?

Does anybody have a good pattern for one, or could just describe how to make one? I only have a little bit of fabric, and I don't want to mess it up.

(kind of like this http://www.memphisvintage.com/websitephotos/patterns/vogue9572/photo99.jpg except I plan on making it sit at the hip, and end just above the knee)
(or this http://www.polimoda.com/glossario/entry245.htm [click the "image" button to the right of the page], just not *quite* as voluminous)

This bag is 3 pieces per side. You cut one piece for the main body, and two for the sides. Do the same with the lining. Sew all pieces together in a typical bag making fashion. I also top stitch it to give the bag a finished look.

The latest (and last) swap I signed up for on craftster.org was the Thrift Store Picture Revamp. You go to the thrift store, buy a picture, send to to your swap partner, they alter it in some way and then send it back to you (while you do the same for them). This is what I altered for my swap buddy. I can't wait to see what she does with what I sent her...

I made these for my best friend, since her birthday is this weekend. I made them all myself. for the copper ones I made everything including the hooks. Really bad pictures but eh...I just wanted to show what they look like.

After a fun visit to a very smushed bead store on Queen in Toronto, I decided I should make earrings. Here's my very first pair!

2 pictures of a chopstick on my balcony )

I was calling them transistors, but my nerd friend Peter informed me that they are in fact resistors. I was worried that the metal that they are made of might be... not healthy to be using in this type of situation, but I have been informed by him that it's all a-ok.

xx! catsmeow.ca! (nothing's for sale there. just so you know.)
