Hey guys, it's me again. I finally finished my necklace - thanks to all you lovely people who's helped me!!

Here are some pictures. I've just been taking ideas from this place, I'm not that crafty so I can't really come up with stuff on my own...well, minus the necklace because that is an original idea!

yay pictures! )

I've been busy since last weekend making jewelry. I'm getting better at it. I had to stop myself from making stuff because I got carried away. *lots of pictures, beware*

Quick question - I've never spun yarn before, but I've been looking into it since I crochet/knit and would looooove to make some of my own yarn for my projects.. I'm looking at wool roving on various websites & on ebay, but I'm a little confused as to how many ounces I would actually need.

I just want to make small skeins, enough to make a hat (so about 60-80 yards) and of bulky or varying weight (similar to this or this or this).

Stuffed Monsters I made. :] The embroidered eyes on the right monster weren't the most tip-top, but he had to be baby-proof for his new owner, my cousin's daughter.

Another question for you guys:

I have painted a number of wine glasses to give as a gift. I always use acrylics because I am an amateur and they are easy and cheap. However, last time I painted glasses, I sealed them with a craft sealer/gloss that is toxic enough in spray-form that I am not sure anyone would want to try drinking out of the glasses covered in them. This next batch are very special and I REALLY want my boyfriend to be able to actually *use* his glasses. So what kind of sealer might I be able to get that won't poison him? Even better, is it really bad to use stemware I sealed in your regular craft sealer? The whole "this stuff is declared carcinogenic to the state of California" has got me a little apprehensive.

Thanks SO much for any and all help!

My friend LOVES playing his guitar and wants me to paint some stuff on one of his straps. It's soft black leather... I was wondering if I'd be able to use the acrylic craft paint? Also, how can I prevent the paint from chipping and cracking? Thanks so much for any help! :)

Hi! I'm Chesh. I've never posted here and don't comment much (since I have nothing actually useful to say) but I keep meaning to make a post. I've got about a year of crap to weed through and display for your approval. Or disgust, I suppose.

About 185KB of pictures here--not too bad, right?

Sewing projects: two dolls, a bag, a shirt, and a dress )

There! Maybe tomorrow I'll fish through my jewelry and get some of that up, too. I have a ton of it.

I have a fondness for sea beasts, so when I thought of making something interesting to hang from the rearview, a sea serpent seemed like a great idea. I made him of fleece, with interfaced flippers and fins. Topstitching was a pain, because the machine doesn't do very neat lines, but it was difficult to maintain a presentable line on both sides when I handstitched. 18ga floral wire was inserted into the body so that I could bend him into a proper undulating form, and elastic cord gives him the loop to hang around the mirror. Nifty!

Yeah, I know it's not original in the least.
But it's for my friend Maddie. I like to make her a little something special to cheer her up on the days she has to go to chemo & get spinal taps... in the same day. Ouch.

Well, I learned 3 weeks ago from a nice lady at a local alpaca farm for my senior project at school, and I do think I am getting good!
Here they are in order, from 1-7...
My first 7 yarns! )
Oh, and I have a question for spinners/knitters: Would a full bobbin of yarn on a standard spinning wheel(unplyed) make a hat? Ideally the Cranberry will make a hat in my mind... but would it really?
oh, and another... I don't really want to ply it, so how exactly do I do a single (as right now the yarn twists onto itself), and would it get icky as he wears the hat?

Everyone, meet Precious:
+2 )

And her friend, I affectionately call her Easter:
+2 )

So that's what I've been doing this weekend. I made Easter while at work yesterday during a five-hour shift.. and made Precious today, on a whim. Janice gave me some ACKrylic, and I've been using it up. I tell ya.. after doing the socks in merino, and fooling around with bag-projects in 100% wool... going back to acrylic, I could SO tell the difference. Mmm.. plastic.

Up next, a bag! Stay tuned!

..because this seems like a very meaningless post, but I need some quick help.

I bought two sets of printed pillow panels from Star Wars over at Wal*Mart, and was all ready to sew, but I came to a dead end: I have completely forgotten how to keep smooth edges on a cotton-batting filled pillow. Should I sew three sides, stuff, then tuck in the last side and sew on top of it? Or is there some other, better technique?

Sorry this is text-only, but I REALLY wanna get sewing tonight and want these pillows to look nice.

Harley bag

I bought this Harley Davidson fabric a few months back with the intention to make a sling bag. Kwik Sew pattern #3171. Very easy - cutting took longer than the sewing. Enjoy!

Quick edit - I modified the pattern slightly, the top is supposed to tie together. But the fabric is too thick (and I didn't like the tie part anyway), so I used metal buttons instead.

Crafts are my addiction. My getaway from the every day.

I fell in love with an abandoned doll. She was in a blue velvet frilly dress. I freed her from her hell, and transformed her into a romantic creature of the night. My own creation. I gave her heart. I gave her strength, and I gave her a mind to embrace the messed up world she's been living in.

Check out some photos of her progress:

I'd be open to your suggestions on how to improve her.
