Well here it is! I'm finally posting here. I just hate uploading and resizing pictures, it's such a task, it seems. But I would like to show you the stuff I make, and the stuff I never get right.

Bags and knits! )

hi guys. i just joined this community because i am super into these sort of things but get discouraged easily and therefore don't have very much skill. so i'm hoping this community will be an inspiration to me!

i'm trying to learn how to sew so I can make clothes and other things to sell because right now i am a body piercing apprentice and after i get out on my own, there's about $3 to be made in that anyway.

this is the only thing i've done that i have a picture of on my computer to show. we got these chairs out of the trash, they were horribly ugly, typical 70s cafeteria style chairs. which sometimes is cool i guess. but i was looking at some chairs they were selling at urban outfitters and decided that this would be way cooler.

chairs. from the TRASH. )

Hey everyone :) I just joined today, and wanted to drop a line to say how much I'm enjoying everyone's talent here ;)

Just so this isn't a post only, I've put some pictures under the cut of some necklaces I've made.

Bring on the beads )

Thanks for looking :)

The pattern is a slight modification from one posted on http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=10382.0 -- I scaled the pieces slightly differently, made up my own instructions (since I don't speak Japanese/read kanji) and added little beanbags (actually flaxseed bags, if you want to be technical) to his feet, hands and bottom so he has proper floppiness.

There was some interest in the craftgrrl community for a trading community so [livejournal.com profile] srain and I are taking it upon ourselves to maintain one.

Introducing [livejournal.com profile] swapstuff - Swapping Stuff for Stuff

It is a strict swap-only community. No selling.

The focus of this community will be for people to swap with each other. There may be an occassional group swap, but there are two other good LJ communities for group swaps already. They are [livejournal.com profile] swapgirls and [livejournal.com profile] sotm_swap.

Since this community is brand new, there may be changes forthcoming to the current look, community info page, and open membership.

Hope to see you there!

Edit: It seems that swapping crafts and crafts supplies are in demand so, YES, this will be a crafty swap community.

Hi gals!

Hi! I'm new, and I have a question! (I hope it's okay!)

I've got a science project on atoms, and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to make a model of a 3-D atom. (I could make a 2-D one, but I'm an overacheiver!) My element is Ca, if that helps! Thanks!! Also, I was thinking of using candy or anything else if you've got any ideas. (I hope I worded this right, I get nervous when it comes to these things!)

And so this isn't text only...

I'm feeling very drawn to earth at the moment, making these earthy entwined creations, with little button mushrooms and curls of beads. Check my journal for a bigger pic!

question...

i'm looking for a specific type of paint... i need to paint letters on large pane windows, but it has to be paint that will come off easily.

a few months ago someone bought latex and did it -- it was NOT pretty when they tried to clean it off; hours of scraping. someone else suggested acrylic paint, perhaps tole paint... which i think would be okay except we're going to need a lot of it and i'm not buying a zillion bottles.

SO, what i'm asking for is if anyone knows of a specific TYPE of paint that is best for this, or a brand that is specific to what i'm looking for.

thanks ladies.

I recently acquired a stack of Seventeen magazines from the 60's. I also got one ladies home journal from 1958. I'm pretty stoked and I've read them all cover to cover already. I was just wondering if anyone had any good ideas for what to do with them. They are in okay condition, but not good enough to sell, the covers have come off of all of them.

Anyways, thanks.

my boyfriend has been playing guitar for a few years, and has a shoe box filled with broken guitar strings. the bassist in his band has 2 boxes. do any of you crafty kids know that i could do with these? i want to make something that can benefit the band in some way (sell stuff made out of them at shows for gas/food money)
someone told me about bracelets, but not how they were made, or what they looked like.

It's a single image collage, so it's pretty big. But it's a gif, so it's only a little over 3kb, so it shouldn't kill anyone's computer. I think.

Examples:

Shot glasses II
Shot glasses III

I really need some help. I'm the world's worst at naming things. Even my username that I use for practically everything is something that my husband thought of for me. Even my separate journal that I have for selling stuff is titled "Kittenbitten's Accessories." I'm terrible.

Since I've seen posts like this before here, and everyone was so helpful, I was hoping someone would help me think of a name for my little crafty business. Well, it's not actually a business yet, but I am going to be going to have my first booth in an arts festival in a couple of months, so I want to have business cards I can give to people.

I like to make beaded jewelry. Recently, I've started making these little wire pendants that I like a lot. I make bracelets and things that are kind of similar. I also decorate clothing with beading and embroidery.

Anyway, here's a bunch of my stuff that I want to sell at the arts festival: Not Dial-up Friendly )

So please help me (1) decide on a name, and (2) help me decide what to do about this skirt that I spent so long on.
[identity profile] exousia.livejournal.com
I want to start wire wrapping semi precious stones for necklace pendants. What is the difference between dead soft, full hard, or half hard wire.

No penis jokes please. I'm perverted enough for the both of us.
[identity profile] newerapluto.livejournal.com
I made this for my boyfriend, though I have no idea how I'll present it... =/ But anyways, enjoy!

La Vie Boheme )

And it's supposed to be able to hold notes/cards like those wire picture holders, but I dunno if he'd utilize it as such...
[identity profile] gasouthard.livejournal.com
First of all, I want to thank everyone who gave me ideas for what to do with the following heart foot prints. You all helped me to come up with a much better craft than just a card as my original idea. This turned out so much better than my first plan. Thank you!

This is what I came up with... )

Hi. I just found these amazing little beads from this magazine. I feel in love with them and now I must have one! The only problem is they're $10 a pop, and while they're very much worth it, Im on a bit of a shoe string budget.

Here is the photo

If you go to the website http://www.dianehawkey.com/beads/beadsB/beadsB.html# you can click on the small thumbnail at the top left and hover over it to see a larger image.

They're tiny hearts that have words printed on them. I'mwondering if anyone here has made their own clay/ceramic beads such as this? If you have and would be willing to offer one up to me, or know where I can find them at a lower price, please let me know :)

hey guys

do any knitters here have on hand the skull chart from domiknitrix? i tried emailing her a couple of times for the chart, but she doesn't gotten back to me. (she made the chart available by email only, bc people were illegally linking to it)

thanks

I decided to whip some of these up as little suprise gifts for friends for Valentine's Day. I'm not super into the holiday, but I'll take any excuse to craft! I modified a pattern that I found in an older post on Craftster. I wanted them to each be unique and to have a vintage-y, quilt-style contrast in fabric. They are half machine and half hand sewn and have lima bean butts. The big one is for my partner, who isn't into small things. Enjoy!

A friend of mine is due on valentines day. They're having a little boy. Here's some of the stuff I made to send her.

I need some ideas.

I am a little pathetic, the only thing I make are scarves. Yeah, they are mindless for me, and I can just do it to releave stress. But you know what that ends up with, a lot of scarves that I hardly ever use. (I live in Florida, although right now it's 46 out, and tomorrow morning it will be 25, Northern Florida) Anyways I digress. The question I am asking is

"Does anyone have an idea for a simple way to hang them on a wall? Perhaps behind the door?(on the door or the wall next to it, so basically 2-3 feet wide, and floor to ceiling)"
I thought about push pins and then just sticking them on there, but I wanted something nicer, a little more decorative.

And soo this is not text only here are the scarves I have made.  )

(edit: I have circular needles, and I want to make hand warmers, but wouldn't it be too big of a loop for that? Or am I just a crazy novice?)
