Well, it's just a pair of earrings I put together real quick, but they have

text only, sry!

I have some longer, cylindrical beads that I would like to use for a bracelet.

Rather than lining them up horizontally, as such:

I would like to run them vertically, like:

-----------
IIIIIIIIIII
-----------

(where --- = string possibly and III = beads)

The beads have holes in the 'top' and 'bottom', like they're meant to be strung horiztonally.

Is there some sort of knot, special wire, etc to help me do this? I have no idea how.

Thank you to anyone who thinks they can help!

Question?

I am making a necklace using nylon thread and i have added a clasp at the end and i want to use pony beads but problem is the clasp at the end is smaller than the hole of the pony bead and therefore the bead falls of. How am i meant to prevent this i dont really want to make it look out of place if the whole thing is done in pony beads and at the ends there are 2 random beads.
Are there any other ways?

so i am done finally with my best friends gifts for the baby shower i am hosting!

here are the pics )
my next projects are making me another purse since i gave one of mine away.
washclothes for the baby ( i am thinking simple squares, however do not have a serger so suggestions are well welcomed)

i bought a really cute book on baby gifts. there are a few projects i would like to do- but need to resize the patterns ( the only copy machine i have access to is at my hubby's office) so any suggestions of rescaling patterns, please shout this way.

also for the baby shower i had these paper boxes and "mini purse" cards i made about 2 years ago, when i was going through my paper phase. i am using them to place small prizes inside for the guests. one of the games is pulling a number out of a bowl and you get the prize that goes with that number. this way everyone gets a "game prize". i also have leis for everyone and take home seashells. most of the prizes are jewellery that i have made.

I checked the FAQ but I didn't see anything about Monsters.

I've never made one, and I'd like to give it a try. If you had examples or anything, can you please post them.

Id be most appreciative if people could tell me which they prefer and why ??

I'm looking to use it to make dolls faces and possibly some small decorations to be used in mixed media collage work ..

I'd also be interested to know what people find is the best backing for collage .. Even thick cardboard seems to warp when hung on the wall and canvas boards are just so damn expensive - any ideas ?

Help?

Hiya I've been lurking for ages and I love this community. I was hoping you could help me out with a conundrum. I have masses of postcards on my walls at uni, travel ones and art cards and as I'm leaving this year to return to a room about a third the size of my massive student residence I'm at a bit of a loss with what to do with them all. There are definately too many to stick on my wall at home. I thought about scrap booking but I think there are too many for them all to be used. I've now come up with some ideas for the travel postcards but I am completly at a loss what to do with all the art ones. I think I have about 35 - 40. Any suggestions?

Cute Baby Kimono under here! )

I have the Janome Sewist 525S sewing machine and I can't find the directions anywhere. I need to make buttonholes for my sewing class but have no clue how to use the one step buttonhole, or how to make a buttonhole at all on this machine. If anyone can help I'd REALLY appreciate it. My proeject's due tomorrow!!

Okay so I am in need of video game cross-stitch patterns of even knitting patterns. Basically I found a bunch of those beads you put on pegs and melt with an iron (I don’t know the name of them). And I want to make some for my friends in the shape of video-game characters, since there already pixilated and all. If anyone can help I would be very appreciative.

P.S. I love this community so very much! Thanks

I have gone on a crafty binge the last couple of weeks, which has been nice. And I've even completed two projects, instead of getting partially through then setting them aside indefinitely, which has been really nice!

After receiving a wonderful drawing by Halcyon, I had to come up with something really good to send him in return. I finally decided to make him a messenger bag with another one of his drawings appliquéd onto the flap.

I want to make a metal circlet type headband with a cresent moon opening up. I normally do a lot of work with wire, but I want something solid this time, but I will do wire if I have to.

Now my question is for anything who has used precious metal clays.

If I were to make the circlet out of say the gold clay stuff would it be maleable enough to bend it after firing? Or would I only be able to get the curve before while the clay is still wet? I have never worked with any, and Im just wondering if it retains the maleability of the metal, or if its brittle because of process and the way its made.

I have a couple other ideas but I thought that the precious metal clay might give me some more freedom that I want for creativity.

Thanks!

Hello everybody,
I recently completed my first pair of pajama pants. Sewing the elastic was very tricky; I broke two needles in the process. Here is a close up of the fabric (it was $1 per yard!):

This is not me selling anything, just asking questions.

I am going to Australia in December and a friend suggested I sell my wares to make money for the trip. I am thinking of etsy and maybe e-bay, but the important questions are, would anyone want to buy what I make, and how much would they be willing to pay?
pictures be here )
again, this is just advice, and thank you for any you may provide.

I have red jeans that I want to dye into a nice khaki color. Is this possible and how would I go about doing so? Would I have to bleach it first and dye it into a lighter shade? I've never dyed anything before. I don't even know what kind of dye to buy. Any and all help would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance! :)

A malachite earring and bracelet set:

I think I'm going to give this to my Mom.

Another bracelet and earrings, but not a set:

I'm not entirely sure what the white stones are - milky agate or chalcedony perhaps.

The earrings are carnelian chips and possibly lapis? Either way, it's orange and blue and I'm in UVA territory - somebody will want them... :)

I'm almost through the bunches of chips I was given. I still have a bag of carnelian, a bag of what appears to be jasper, and then some black chips I think might be obsidian. I was grateful for the supplies, but nothing's really labeled!

And of course, I'm not a fan of gemstone chip jewelry (except for a few pieces) so I have to figure out who to give them to...

For all the knitters, I have a question. I'm about to start on this pattern and I wanted to clear up something up before I actually get to work. The pattern calls for this:

sk2p: slip one stitch purlwise, knit next two stitches together, pass slipped stitch over

Just want to make sure I have this right. Before I slip the first stitch, do I need to bring the yarn to the front as if I'm purling, then after I slip it put it into the back again so I can knit? Or do I just leave it where it is the whole time or is it something totally different?

There's still a lot I have to learn, but I'm improving every day.
