howdy ho-

i just have a couple questions.  i checked a few pages back and memories and whatnot, and found nothing.  so...

1.  can i sell things that i have made using patterns?  i make a lot of tote bags from patterns, and i could get rid of a few of them, but i didn't know if it was illegal since the patterns are copyrighted.

2.  I was thinking about creating a myspace account to sell my creations.  I don't make bulk quantities of things, ususally just one of each thing, so i was thinking this way i could just post pictures of what i have available, and people could message me if interested.  thoughts?

I didn't know where else to ask about these things, buying/selling communities seem to be strict on buying/selling only posts, no questions allowed, but if this isn't the right place, could someone please point me in a better direction?  thanks.

thank you much in advance for all help :)

I haven't made a new necklace in months and after buying some new beads, I've gone a bit crazy the last couple of weeks. I actually even made two decent pairs of earrings.

The lighting in my apartment is horrible and when I used flash, the beads just reflected it all back at the camera. So I apologize if some of these are dark.

(I checked the memories, and the answer to this question under adhesives seems to have been deleted?)

The tip of my trusty little glue gun is covered in loose bit of fur and thread that seem to glued to it permanently with a thin film of glue.  I tried to clean it off as it got warm, but burned my fingers instead, which makes me think that there's got to be a better way.  I've had it for almost 5 years, and it was only a couple of bucks, but if I replace it, I'd like to have a handle on how to fix this problem in the future.

Tips appreciated!

Thanks!

So okay, not too long ago, Mike picked me up a cheapie full size ironing board from our favorite Target. It's very nice and works a hella lot better than pressing on my kitchen counter.

But now, it looks very sad. The cover is all burnt up and ripping and all water stained and it is really grossing me out.

So my question, does anybody know of any tutorials for making a new cover? And like, what kind of fabric can I use to do it? The "cover" on it now is very thin cotton and just has no durability whatsoever. I want to do something that will last a whole lot longer.

Has anyone successfully recovered their ironing board?

Okay, and here is my new stuff.

So all of these pretties are in preparation of this weekend's craft fair.
And because I'm a sewing whore.
But only when the wee one is in bed.

This is seriously, ridiculously huge and if you have dial-up or ADD, I highly suggest you skip it. With my sincerest apologies... )

My cousin was living with her mom and decided that for highschool she wanted to live with her dad. She just moved to St. Charles, IL. As a going away gift I made her a bracelet and a pair of earrings in her favorite color, green.

I actually really like 'em. I was going to make a matching necklace but never got around to it. I may end up making it and mailing it to her. :)

Holy cow a pound of lavender blooms is A LOT!

So, what kind of crafty things can I do with it? I bought it with the intent of making sachets for Christmas presents but know I will have a bunch left over...

What do you think?

I'm  new at reading crochet patterns and I'm working on a crocheted bag and the pattern says chain 3 (counts as first double crochet now and throughout). So do I really chain 3? Or do I do the first double crochet?

((sorry this is text only, I haven't had time to take pictures and upload them))

These two shots are of the Ribbed Boxes purse, designed and freehanded for a friend of mine's birthday. It's crocheted entirely with a ribbing technique in a worsted weight yarn. The first photo is to take in the whole front of the bag, while the second photo is trying to give you a better idea of what the ribbing looks like. I could have kept them larger, but I wanted them to be community-friendly.

Hey guys :D Lately, I'v tried cutting up some old pair of jeans to make a skirt..and yes that didnt turn out too good, the triangle in the back where you sew the extra fabric turned out bad x.x And I hate throwing away the bottom portion of the jeans I dont use from the legs, whats something I can do from them? And I know you all love looking at pictures, even bad quality ones :P So heres a painting I did quite a while ago for art, the ever famous kitty picture.. I still cant figure out that lj cut...

So the camp I was going to be with at Burning Man is the Gnome Camp, and I crocheted a few hats for everyone to wear.

Here's a sample (I think I look heinous, but at least the hats look good...) There are only 5 total but I made them in a few colors, including two with a spattering of safety orange. We had a small posse of 4 sitting around Golden Gate park with our conehats on. I think people enjoyed checking us out. They gonna look so gooood on the playa!

Project: "Cold Shoulders Capelet" as seen in Stitch 'n' Bitch, the Happy Hooker.
Yarn: Plymouth Yarns Brushed Alpaca [buy it here; they don't have this particular color.]

It took less than a day, hours-wise, I think, and it worked up beautifully. The only adjustment I made was to add three rows of single crochet along the bottom edge. I didn't put on the pom-poms that are shown in the book because my attempts at pom-poms came apart completely when I pulled them a little. I need to practice my pom-poms.

Capelet on me and some detailing )

I hightly recommend both the yarn and the project. The yarn used in the book was fuzzier, but I like the way you can see the openwork with this yarn.

Any tips on working with skeleton leaves to make flower bouquets? I bought $130 worth of skeleton leaves in different colors, and they're absolutely beautiful. I'm just not entirely sure yet how to arrange them and turn them into lovely flowers.

I'm hoping to use them in my wedding for the bridal bouquet and reception decor.

Here's some lovely pictures of bouquets made from skeleton leaves and I've seen them arranged many different ways. If all else fails, I will simply experiment. Any tips would be appreciated, though, so I don't waste many.

I've not posted in this forum for quite some time... been too busy trying to quit my job, move, and go back to graduate school. I'm all moved now, and I'm using the opportunity of having my apartment all a mess to repaint and update some hideous seventies green bedroom furniture I inherited from my grandmother. It's not all done, I still have the bed and large dresser to tackle, but the nightstand is finished.

it's amazing what paint and new hardware can do )

Well I was intrigued by the stencilry tutorials, and with my mother's birthday being tomorrow (and her being the crafty person she is) I thought it might be nice to make her a stenciled tee.

I personally used contact paper for my stencil. It worked well, but I really didn't start easy. There were a lot of little pieces to work with. The blue letters are stamped on though, not stenciled. I was too lazy at that point.

Well, the fruits of my labor (roughly six hours (some paper issues, over a period of two days):

We had to put my dog down recently. She was the best ever, so I made a necklace with some of her hair in it. I don't think it's obvious what it is, but it keeps her close to my heart.

I made some things for my girlfriend--our three-year anniversary was in June, but I haven't gotten around to posting until now. They're Nintendo-themed things, because that's just what you get when you hang around me for three years.

Mushroom earrings )

Makar from Zelda: Wind Waker )

Then I made some things for me, because I'm my own best customer:
Polka-dot halter top )

Corduroy patchwork skirt )

And a question: Does anyone know of any decent patterns for pants that come in small sizes? I'm a size 1 and patterns like to claim that they're made for me, but then I open them up and the smallest hip size is 36". Normally I just make my own patterns entirely, but I've never made pants before and I don't really have any pairs that I could take apart and study--all of mine either fit funny, have unneccessarily complicated flies, or are too new/well-fitting to consider dissecting.

Thanks!
