I started my first PANTA last night and finished it earlier today. I'm in love with it. I'm already making another one in a bright blue colour.

So much fun to wear.

Crimping?

So I've just finally invested in some jewelry wire and crimp beads, mostly to practice with, since I really have no faith in my own knot-tying ability... However, I didn't buy the bead-crimper tool because I felt it was sort of silly... Why not just crimp the beads down with regular jewelry pliars/needlenose pliars? It squashes the crimp bead out flat, and holds it tight tight tight...! So my question is - Do I really *need* this crimp tool? Anybody out there recommend it/recommend not getting it?

And so as to not make this my 2nd text-only post in a row, here - -

Here are 3 necklaces I made a while ago! )
Thanks!

Ok I posted about my sewing machine troble a few days ago...
its still not working but the seller has sent me a refund because it seems the daughter who shipped the item out didnt get incurence. She refunded the shipping money which was almost 60 dollors and said she would give a full refund if it cost more than that to get it fixed. So I am not so mad now, and am glad I dont have to haul this thing to the post office that wasnt going to be fun.
well off to the only place on Guam that fix's these things.
Thank you all for all the help.

Yesterday consisted of craftiness! I went to Jo-Ann's to buy fabric to make James' pillow (I'm the girl making a pillow out of the dying baby blanket) and while there I stumbled upon this awesome Popeye fleece fabric. My husband, Jay, is a major fan of Popeye...so much so that Popeye is tattooed on his right arm :) Well the fabric I found was on clearance for $4.00 a yard, and then also 50% off...so I ended up paying $2.00 a yard! I bought 4 yards of fabric and made a double sided fleece blanket out of the fabric. My idea was to make a recliner blanket for Jay...something for him to have on him while he naps in his recliner...I am quite pleased with how it turned out :) I can't wait for Jay to get home from work tonight so that he can see it, I really think he's going to love it.

Crocheter I'm not, but I wanted so badly to make a cell phone case.  What turned out I am pretty excited about but the directions threw me.  I need some guidance because I don't know how I got there and if I'll be able to make another.

We finally finished our wedding invites! To make them we:
*cut giant sheets of handmade (not by us) paper down to size
*traced the acorn picture for the cover onto vellum and embossed it
*attached the acorn picture with photo-corners because every type of glue looked awful
*printed all the info for each sheet onto vellum and cut those down to size
*perforated the RSVP cards so that once they're filled out the guests can just tear them out and pop them in the mail
*embossed an acorn stamp onto the back of the postcard RSVPs
*hole punched them and tied all the layers together with a bit of ribbon

It seemed a lot easier/quicker in my head, but then isn't that how all projects turn out? :)

Hi gals!

I hope I can ask this in the easiest way possible, as I'm terrible with explaining things...

On my sewing machine. I have a singer, newer smaller model...cheaper one from WalMart. On the presser foot thing, is there a way to make it sit less tight on the fabric? I can never seem to move my fabric around as easily as I would like while sewing. I have a project coming up where I need curves but the presser foot thing sits on the fabric like a lead weight. What should I do?

Also, do any of you have any patterns for an apron with one or two pockets in the front? I got this really cute book from Barnes and Noble that has one in there, but I would like to see other options. It will be more for when I am doing my crafting as apposed to kitchen use.

Thanks so much and I am loving everyones little crafty things you have been posting. :)

*EDIT:
Also, do any of you know where I can find a foot to help with edge sewing...I can't think of the name...but when I am sewing two peices together and need a nice straight edge...I need a foot for that. I checked singer's website and found NOTHING. I can't make a straight line for the life of me. Thanks so much.

I've looked through the memories and searched through Google, but still thought I'd ask here. I have a blog and this Thursday I'll have a pirate themed post. I'll be talking about pirate books, a pirate webcomic and the Talk like a pirate day. What I would like to find is cool looking crafty pirate themed things, other than costumes. So far I have this knitting pattern and this store, but I'd like to see what you guys have made.

Comments with links and pics are most welcomed!

Thanks in advance.

Is there away to seal watercolors so they don’t run all over the place if a little bit of water gets on the painting?
Thanks in advance ladies..

so i've been working all day on crocheting a bag for the first time. i stole the design from [livejournal.com profile] mistress_mu's post.

honestly, i'm kind of disappointed in mine, and i'm jealous of [livejournal.com profile] mistress_mu's.

the bottom is all uneven and poochy, because i had a panic attack when it started to look weird and so i had to crochet together some edges and yeah. this was my first time going off of a pattern, so naturally that was probably the problem. and the handles...i just cut an old scarf in half and attached them. i like them, but they're kind of flimsy, although i like the knotted ends.

meh.

I need corked glass bottles. I don't need a bunch of just one style, but in multiple shapes and sizes, but all under about 4 inches. Most of the places I've checked out have them in bulk with only one style. I don't want to buy bulk. Buying one at a time would be preferable. Anyway, above all else, they have to be corked. Any links?

TIA

EDIT:

Joann's and Michael's are the only two craft places in my area and don't currently have what I want. I'm looking for somewhere online.

Here's a picture of the Popeye blanket in action! Jay loved it and once he was done showering from work, he climbed right into the recliner, and put the blanket to use :)

something new i'd been working on today... inside these origami satchets (sewn and sealed) are homemade rosemary fizzy bath powder!

rosemerry soak fizzies
empty a satchet or two into your hand/feet soak or bathtub and watch the water gently fizz as it slowly releases the calming scent of rosemary, while magnesium sulfate aids to relief muscle aches and stiff joints.

- 100% homemade
- all natural ingredients
- no artificial coloring

warnings
- do not ingest
- do not use if you are pregnant, have high blood pressure, or epilepsy

Ok, so here's some things I've been working on. I've been having fun trying out new things. One thing has been the diaper soaker that is for cloth diapering. I don't have kids yet, but when I do, I'll at least be able to know I can make covers for their diapers. I have embroidered before, but I've always used Sublime Stitching designs. This is my first attempt at drawing something on with my chalk and going from there.

i made a hat and scarf last week. it's still way too hot to wear them (hence the tank top underneath), but they are very cozy. i actually started the hat off with crochet, but got fed up because the yarn was impossible to see (its that hairy looking stuff, can't remember what it's called... i love it though, very soft and wonderful!). i mixed said hairy yarn with some other soft bulky yarn. the whole lot took an evening to do, and the scarf is reasonably long. nifty knitters really rock.
