This is probably a long shot but, is there a way to make one of those chinese take-out boxes durable enough to make a small purse? I've seen an actual purse that looked like one but I don't think the girl made it herself.

i have some old photograph glass plates, that i would like to display. my thought was to create a box frame with a light behind the glass plate. however i am trying to find a good tutorial online to create this frame. anyone have any ideas. i still have to search archives of crafters, however did search google.
i am in no hurry on this frame since, i will be making it 110v for when i return to the states.
thanks in advance

I'm [livejournal.com profile] tmdegenstien, in case you're wondering :)

I'm bored on a Sunday afternoon, watching a football game in which my hometown is losing :S ....so, what better way to cheer myself up and reduce the boredom than check out craftgrrl and make a post?

Years ago I bought these hammered pewter towel racks at a yard sale. The owner had originally got them at Pier 1.

They were really simple with spirals on the end.

I can't find anything like it now and it's driving me crazy. But I feel like I could make these if I just knew how to get started.

Does anyone know of metal working tutorials? I was thinking I could use copper instead of pewter if that would be easier to work with or obtain.

I'm not even sure where to get rods that gauge. The ones I can find are smaller for jewelry making.

Thanks for any help you can give me!

So, my roommate finally got her digital camera working, so I swiped it for a while to show off some of the projects that I've been working on. And so you guys wouldn't think that I was just going to lurk indefinitely. Here are two purses and an afghan that I'm really proud of and really irritated with. Enjoy!

Hope you enjoyed and thanks for looking!

I am extremely novice at crafts but I have had a lot of free time as of late. I have been meaning to make prints for t-shirts for a while now and I finally got around to doing so.... )

I work for a public library and in October, I am hosting this event, the library's very first crafting event. Today I decided to rummage through my supplies and make a few samples of handmade journals. Click here for some rather large pictures )
