Amazingly, after much Google-ing, I found it through typing in "squares, bag, press, fold, tutorial, newspaper" because the tut showed one of the sides as squares patchworked together, you press the seams, you cut on the fold, it's a tutorial, and you make the pattern on newspaper. Um, and it's a bag, obviously, though I never would've thought to search for "sack." *Whew!* I'm soooooooooo glad I found it because I love this bag a ridiculous amount.

It's for my friend, Noelle )

More craftiness! )

Whew! It seems like I store up all the crafty pictures for huge posts like this one. Thanks for looking!

For those multi colored skull cameos. Ive seen them in just about every color of the rainbow. From skulls, to roses, guns and so on. Im seeing them used a lot on other crafting sites, and Im dying to get my own. I hate to be one of those people begging for a supplier, but these are just too neat and I want them mainly for my own personal use.

Im hoping for a place to get them in bulk, or if everyone I see casts them themselves, where can I find the mold to do my own too?

Thanks!

While cleaning my studio because my swanky sister in-law is coming I found a pattern I had been working on and I wanted to try it out. Nothing like a project to put off cleaning =)

Heads up crafties... In the October issue of Parents Magazine there is a 20% off your entire purchase coupon @ Michaels. Just thought I would pass that on.

Heya!

I'm hoping to do a WWII pilot-ish costume this halloween (ok, a steampunked out pilot, but the basic patterns are there...)  I was wondering if anyone knew of a good online pattern for an aviator cap with earflaps a la Snoopy.  :)

Difficulty: NOT KNITTED!!!  Augh.  Google searches are useless, as all I get are knitting patterns, and I want to do it in leather/faux leather.

I've been in a slight craft rut lately.
I've made ornaments for Christmas that I haven't yet posted but today is more "creative" than crafty. Hope it still qualifies.

I've wanted to make a scarecrow for a while now but don't really have the patience or the materials. So, going through my garage and seeing lots of recyclables (newspaper, plastic bags, etc) as well as a lot of outgrown clothes from my daughter, I decided to play around.

And so, I present to you the 100% recycled (or at least reused) scarecrow...

...and we are doing a production of the matchmaker by thornton wilder.  hopefully I'll be watching the movie soon.  well anyway, it takes place in the 1880's or 1890's and i was wondering if anyone had any good resources, like pictures (pattern suggestions maybe???) that would fit this time period.  its a high school production, but i don't really want them to suck.  i know I'm going to need a lot of lace trim and satin and velvet and bustles and gloves for the girls but I'm completely clueless other wise.  I've been sewing for a while but this will be my first time using a real pattern and I'm not sure how good my partner is at sewing but I don't think she sucks.

this site has a lot of fancier things but thats not really what I'm looking for, i think its more of an upper-middle class setting.

this site is more what i'm looking for (as it is another school production of the same play i came across)

so i guess what I'm asking for is more period pieces pictures (for girls and boys) like the second link and/or specific patterns that would fit in this period and not really 'elegant' pieces.  also, if you know about good accessories/shoes/anything that would be cool too!

thanks so much for anything you can give me

In one of my photo classes we were given this assignment:
Take one photograph and make two prints of it. One print must three inches or smaller and the other should be six feet or bigger.

This is what I did (craft related, I promise!)

Large print )

i saw an ad in a catalog for this and i decided i wanted to make one. It was a scarf with a hood, or rather a hood with a scarf lol... I am an okay knitter, i can make stripes in a scarf. I was wondering if anyone has a pattern or knows where I could find a pattern that would be awesome!!!

thank you!

ps I'm sorry for no pictures, I have a bunch of pictures to upload on my photobucket of new jewelry, i just need to figure out how to prioritize my time to get such things uploaded.

I've been hunting for a sewing machine for about a month or two now, with no real luck, except to buy one online. I had my eye on a Brother xl 2230 because it was in my price range, but today I found a better deal. I went to my local sewing shop, also a Bernina Dealer. I knew I couldn't afford their machines, but I went in to ask if they had some ideas on where to look for a machine more in my price range. ( I am new to this area.) Yadda, yadda yadda....I found a Bernina Bernette 90e (http://www.berninausa.com/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441868331) (gently used) for $99. I checked online on my phone to see what they are priced as new. Around $465 new. Now I don't know if any of you know about Bernina's, but they are a good standard brand, and I am really excited to have a sewing machine...finally! The cool thing about the place where I bought my machine is that they will give me free classes on how to use it. Yay! Anyway...Just wanted to share the good news. happy crafting!
