You may remember me from several months back -- talking about the smashing pumpkins t-shirt quilt I was making my boyfriend. I finished it within a month, but I procrastinate and I just got around to uploading the pictures...

Yip-Yip Martian Costume, (+2) )

Since this is the first thing I've made that hasn't been listed in this community, I thought I'd share. I made both of them, but I'm in the pink one.

hey all!
im working on some fairy wings for my halloween costume. i know people ask about them all the time, but i couldnt find an answer to this.
after reading a post (earlier today, i think) i decided to use wire hangers as my frame. after a lot of work, i finally got them into the shape i want.
i planned on just putting stockings over the frame (which i was pretty sure i had read would work), but when i tried, the shape got all distorted and squished.
have any of you had this problem? what else might i be able to use for the rest of the wings?
theyre about... 2 ft x 2 ft each if you were to draw a square around them. not sure how else to explain the size.

please help!

For my second crochet project I tried a stuffed animal, but I guess my stitches weren't tight enough and the poly-fil shows through.

Any tips on how to get my stitches tight enough when making stuffed animals and the like?

Hello my beautiful crafty girls!

I need some serious help here. My boyfriend of 3 years and 7 months and myself ) have been living together for ages and now we have come to a point where we have too many issues to deal with that we can't live together anymore. I want to make him something so he knows that I'm standing by him whilst we both work out our issues. I want to make him something from the heart, something that shows him I really love him and that hope is not lost.

He is a beautiful man, who is creative in his own right, he's a music producer.

I would really appreciate your help here ladies.

Thank you in advance,

Lee-Rae

My friends and I have wanted for years now to make soaps for family members and such for Christmas. But we can't find a vegan recipe to follow to do so.

Does anyone have a good recipe for vegan handmade soap?

All help is greatly appreciated...we've been looking for a long time now.

Love love,
Jane

I just finished the BEST costume ever for the boy for the Halloweenie shows this weekend. We're gonna be in Moline, Waterloo & Quincy. I still dont' know what I'm going to be! HELP!

Requirements:
I must be topless with tape over the nipples.
If There's stripping involved that's good too. Gives me something to do on stage.
I want something risque for me....what's that? I have no idea... I'll try anything methinks.

Supplies:
I have some cape-type fabric in black
Small quantity of dark-brown fur (almost a yd.)
small quantity of black vinyl (almost a yd.)
I also have red stretchy fabric (1-2yds)
I could paint a costume on as well. I do have some tempera paints.

I only have tomorrow night to make it. So nothing crazy elaborate. I'm not afraid to do something funny either. I AM pretty crafty, though, so don't limit yourself too much.

HELP!!

Okay.. so I'm making an orange purse similar to one [livejournal.com profile] bjorkdoll made a long while back. I've posted a pattern recently, which I'm asking the mod to take down from the memories because it's all messed up and wrong, and I'll be re-posting it along with pictures of the final purse whenever I finish it....

I ran across a problem. I've already finished the main rectangle of the purse (front and back and bottom) and I have to make the strap. However, I worked a row of "back loops only" on the wrong row.. there are pictures behind the lj-cuts to show you what I did.

The first picture shows how it's supposed to look. I first worked a row of "front loops only" so that the fabric would fold inwards. However, I worked the "back loops only" one row too soon (it should've been done in yellow and not orange, and should also have been front-loops-only). It folds the correct way (inwards), however, it folds one row too soon, so now I have a row of orange and one side is a row too long (and the bottom is one row too short). I think I'm explaining this pretty bad, which is why there are pictures.

Okay, so my question is this. Has anyone ever come across a problem AFTER cutting the yarn and such and been able to fix it? I was thinking, since where I messed up is where I changed colors.. I could simply undo it, fix the row, then reattach it.. but I'm not sure if I would be able to reattach it and make it look as if it was never taken apart.

I've given up on it for tonight since I've worked for hours already and my hand has cramped, but tomorrow I'm about to unravel it unless there's a way I can fix this. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Alright I need help! My sister won a make your own transfer thing from a baby shower. It's made by Artisan. Anyways...basically you can take photos, magazine articles etc, and put it on virtually anything. OR SO I THOUGHT! Okay I'm an Orlando Bloom fan...he's an obsession...not like "Oh my god he's hot obsession." But he's an obsession. Well I got the crazy idea to put a favorite picture I have of him, on my favorite black hoody...it would be original etc etc. So we went ahead and followed the directions of this thing, and after it was finnished and we went to iron it on it wouldn't stick. So I'm thinking. "Okay maybe I missed a step." And there was a step I didn't understand, so my aunt checked it out and thought that it said to take some goop it came with [[the same stuff that made the transfer]] and goop it onto my hoody, then iron it on. Well not only would it not stick, but the goup that DID stick...it now stuck to my favorite hoody, as well as part of his hair from the picture. So now my favorite hoody is ruined...so I bought a new one. $26 dollars worth [[the other one was like $10 so gah]] and now I want to put Orlando's picture on it, I deserve that much! So any ideas on products I could use to do this, companies maybe, or something? I'm never tryiong that stupid artisan product thing *rolls eyes* IF we missed a step in the instructions then it's their fault because on the box it said it was easy. So yeah I'm stuck. Thanks in advance.

i have a question. for my boyfriends birthday i had been in the crafty mood and made him some gifts. and one of them was this pillowcase thing. we always joke around about how he cuddles with his pillow when i'm not there and whatnot.. so what i had done was i wrote on a regular pillowcase a little note about how he cuddles & talks to his pillowcase and to ease his mind and to include me a little more use the following phrases accordingly.. and i wrote little things like i love you and i miss you kind of things. but that's all really pointless. my question though is i wrote on it in just permanent marker like i have done for little tshirts i've made before.. and it's beginning to bleed.. and i was wondering if any of you lovely ladies knew what i could do? like if i were to remake it what could i use that it wouldn't do that? and maybe be washerfriendly but also able to sleep on?

so, my closest friends are reuniting for a little halloween party after a long time of clashing schedules and stuff...so, for the party i'm going to make everyone little goodie bags, any ideas about what to put in it? cute and halloweeny stuff maybe?

Mmm 'kay, I thought this was appropriately craft-related, so I have a question.

My friend/partner for chem, and myself, have to make a project to present the alkaline earth metal group (elements..periodic table, stuff from that crap.)

Anyway, we need something creative. We dont want to do a poster, and we thought about a short film, but we dont have enough time. It needs to be unique, and crafty-like. We cant seem to think of anything though..so if anyone has ideas, they would be greatly appreciated! :D

While we were out running errands today and picking up our in-ground 16' flag pole (another project of mine), I stopped in Wal-Mart and spent an hour looking for and getting all the materials to make my maid vacuum cover. Here's a pic of it. Isn't she cute? That pattern costs $9.95, luckily at Wal-Mart patterns are half price. All of the materials to make her came to a little over $30. Now I see why people on the Internet charge $50 and $65 for one.

I can't find the thread on this, so help me out, k?

Inspired by my moogle hat, I decided that I'm gonna be one for Halloween. I don't own white boots, however, nor do I think I really have use for white patent go go boots. Not enough to buy a pair, I think.

So, I do have a pair of black leather knee-high boots - yes, I'll be a very trashy moogle chick - and I was wondering if it was safe to paint them white for just one night and what paint would best go for this? Or, if I did choose to et the white patent go go boots, would I be able to somehow stain them a different color when I'm done?

I'll post pics of my costume this weekend. I hope to see others' costumes as well!

Okay, so Im looking for some crafty gift ideas for a musician guyfriend.
I am in awe with the guitar string bracelet posted here a few days, and am currently toying with some other string ideas, most of them being jewelry'ish, but I'd like something a bit more boyish and practical than that.
Also, I have a sewing machine and am fairly bad-ass with making guitar straps- but have only previously made them for girls, and am a little stumped with decoration ideas.

I would love for whatever I do to be personal and somehow in relation to his band and their music, without it being incredibly cheesy and reeking of promo. So any ideas you girls have would be greatly appreciated!
