Hi there everyone. I've been crafty lately crocheting and sewing my heart out, but while reading through posts here in the memories, I got to thinking about decorating my bedroom.

You see, I live with my parents and our house is unfinished (we only live on the first floor). Money and time permitting, we should be living upstairs soon, and that leaves me with a bedroom more than twice as big as my current one. My room right now isn't decorated in the least, and I have a mess of mix matched things I've drawn or sewn throughout that really doesn't help bring anything together.

More of my blabber and the layout of my future room )

more text only posting- sorry
but thanks for all the input!
for my coffee table, I think I'm gonna take two wooden wine crates, make a couple of shelves out of them, then stick a pane of glass on top.
For the desk, I may try that filing cabinet/door idea, but only if I can find cheap goods.
How exciting, I'll post pics in a couple of weeks when I move in.
Thanks again!

Hey, I don't have the money to spring for one of those really spiffy CD Tower's you can buy, so I was wondering if perhaps any of you had suggestions to make a similar holder [for both the CD's AND the cases simultaneously].

thaaaank you.

And may I say - you people & your crafts. Very awe-inspiring.

I was at the library killing time before a doctor's appointment where I ran into the wonders of Ready Made Magazine. It had so many wonderful ideas that I want to try. I am going to subscribe.

I know adhesive questions are asked millions of times, and I'm pretty sure I've asked one myself before. But I'm still stuck on which glue to use for my photo books that I haven't completed.. nor started for that matter. Ha ha.

So right, pulling all you glue and paper happy crafters together for a mini-survey here.
1. What's your favorite glue (for paper on paper)?
2. What are its' pros and cons?
3. Where is it available? (craft stores such as Michaels or online?)
4. If you can remember - rough estimate of price of the glue?

Thanks thanks thanks much.
I'm probably going to opt for that YES stickflat or whatever its called glue, but I haven't heard too much about it yet soooo I just want to hear what everyone else has to say before I go glue shopping (yay). (Only a crafty person can get excited about shopping for glue, lol).

[livejournal.com profile] shescraftastic posted in an earlier post about what happened to Craftster.org. Don't fear! It will be back!

Here is what she wrote:

Hey everyone!

Sorry for the delayed reply. The webhost I'm using "suspended" my account because Craftster is just taking up too many resources for the type of hosting they offer.

They say they won't host Craftster anymore so the day has come where I need to move to a dedicated server. Yowza. Wasn't really expecting this so soon! But hey, it will solve a lot of the busy-ness and slowness. So really it's a great thing overall.

They're not being very helpful either. I asked them if I could just put up a message telling people that it will be down until the move is over and they said no. Nice, huh?

So it'll probably be down until Monday. I hope no longer than that.

Leah

P.S. I'm x-posting this at Glitter too.

So don't panic, our favorite tutorial site will be back!!!

I recently purchased a kit for little knit earring socks and I wanted to share it with all of you. After I make my first pair I'll let you know how long it takes to make one sock on 00000 needles.

At our local Stitch n Bitch this 70 year old lady acts like my daughter and I  shouldn't belong to a knit group at our age. The other day she showed up with a fringe on her scarf that everone admired because it was more of a LIQUID LIGHT fringe and not regular metallic yarn. The fringe hit the light in every direction and when we asked what she used where she purchsed it she said it was too long ago and she couldn't remember. At the end of the meeting she said " I think it's comming back to me." and named some B.S. yarn store 6 hours away.  I searched and searched on the internet and found that it isn't a yarn it's halogram thread that gives the yarn a liquid light luminous look.  You just have to work with the thread and yarn together to make it look awesome. Simililar to when you work with eyelash/fun fur yarn.  I had to share my story .         I found the thread here

http://www.sewandquilt.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?&Screen=PROD&Store_Code=SQ2&Product_Code=50410201&Category_Code=Thread_Specialty

I could understand maybe forgetting the place of purchase, but DONT CALL IT A YARN IF IT'S A THREAD!    ha ha ha ha ha

That rotten 70 yr old Stitch, as soon as I make something I'm takin' it in and saying  look I didn't have to drive 6 hours and its actually a halogram thread mixed in with the yarn.

Hi guys! I'm feeling a little unimaginative at the moment and I need an idea. I've got some remnant fabric that's about 3 by 3 feet. It's blue and has the emblems for each of the houses from Harry Potter on it. The emblems are each about 3 inches high by 3 inches wide. I was thinking about maybe cutting out some of the emblems and trying to use them as patches, but I don't know how that would work. Basically I'm just looking for any sort of idea for what to do with this piece of fabric. It's a bit too small for a skirt, and I REALLY don't need any more purses. :P But can you guys think of anything else? Thanks in advance.

(X-posted to [livejournal.com profile] jun and craftgrrl )

A few weekends ago I painted my room neon green, and my dresser blue/orange. Then my dad and I went to Home Depot to purchase wood and such for my loft bed. Three weeks later, here's what we have =D (Although it probably would have taken only a week if I had worked more often -_-; ) We used pine for the bed and some lag bolts to attatch it into the wall (5/16" zinc). It was really fun :) We made the ladder last weekend, and I put it up last night. There are holes cut in the top four shelves for handholds.

I almost fell off Monday night )

Hi,
I have just bought some Dylon Image Maker which transfers pictures onto fabric, but I have a question about it. In the instructions they say you should photocopy your photo and then use it, but I was wondering, can you just use a print out from an inkjet printer and use it?

Thanks in advance :)

i'm knitting a purse at the moment, and i want to line it with cloth so that it keeps its shape and things don't poke through. what's the best way to do this? i was thinking assembling the lining in a bag-like shape, and then attaching it to the inside somehow. can i just use a sewing machine, or should i hand-sew the lining in?

Hi there crafty gals. I have a quick question about iron-on transfers to t-shirts that I need your help with.

I was doing an iron-on transfer for a friend on a t-shirt and everything seemed dandy except once I had totally pulled off the backing - there was this white wash/finish to half of the transfer. :( Has anyone else experienced this while doing transfers? I made sure to cut around the image, except for a a few spots *oops* but I am really at a loss for what would have made that happen?? Hopefully someone knows.... :o) Thanks!

Your help is always appreciated and welcomed by moi. Thanks.

hey I need some help.

I found a shirt on delias webpage that I really like. I would buy it, but I think I could make it.

I bought a tank top at a thrift store today, I was thinking I could cut the part on top I don't need, and find some strechy lace for the top part. So when I wear it my shoulders are showing. Cute huh?

well, does anyone know where I could get strechy black lace? Has anyone seen it in stores before?

I think this would work well with other strechy fabric too. I'll see.

Thanks for the help.

Hi everyone!

I've been in this community for awhile, but I have only decided now to share some of my creations. I dabble in a lot of mediums; polymer clay, polymer resin (cast and craft), wire and metals, photography, digital art & graphic design, and fabrics. My new favorite is knitting.

Here is a scarf that I just finished for a friend:

Here are a few more pictures of my most recent creations )

I want to thank everyone in this community for inspiring me over the last few months.
