When I bought my sewing machine I was provided with a double needle.
What types of things are a double needle used for?

So my boyfriend's birthday is Saturday. And I always make him something, so this time, I made him a clock!

I took air dry clay (I don't have an oven here :( ) and made it, then painted it, and added a watch I got at wal mart.

I'm pretty proud of it.

OK, I have to ask for your opinion, ladies :) Last night I started mod-podging a cheap jewelry box I found, since I need one to take to college. I like what I have so far, but it seems a bit...boring to me.

Different views of it )

Do you guys think I should keep it in collage form or maybe outline the pictures with glitter or something? Also, do you think I need to fully cover it or does it look fine just on top? What about the sides?

Any comments would be pretty helpful..

i got my wisdom teeth (all 4) out this morning, and they let me keep them (ROCK!). after i de-tox them and get them all nice and clean, what should i do with them? any crafty suggestions for former body parts?

I made a skirt last night after being inspired by clothing altered communities and stuff. I found this shirt and off I went. Its really not that cool, but it was super easy and there was no sewing involved! (I might go back and hem the buttom or add ribbon because it sticks out kind of funny)

anyway, here it is!

Okay, okay, I know we all hate stencil posts, but it's the first vaguely crafty thing I've done in awhile, and I feel the need to brag about it.

Oh oh mod )

I'm not sure if the picture will work, so I may be editing this post lol

Does anyone know a cheap brand/place to buy iron-on transfer paper?

How about tshirts? Well, not exactly tshirts (because those Hanes ones they sell at craft stores never fit me, because I'm too small). I was actually looking for the girls shirts that are dual-colored with cap sleeves.....like with the body of the shirt one color and the sleeves another. Any ideas? Thanks!!!

Here's a quilt block of a dalahorse that I designed and made.

have any of you ever tried to make plugs out of resin? i already checked the memories.

any tips are appreciated!
[identity profile] breathesymphony.livejournal.com
Man, I am terribly disorganized. Or at least rushed. I happen to have some free time tonight, so I was going to make the shirt I have been wanting to make forever. So I figured I would stop and grab some iron-on paper (do you think an office supply store or craft store would be cheaper?) and a shirt. Here's my new dilemma- would any shirt work? I don't want to buy a shirt at the craft store because they never fit me. So I was looking around Old Navy at their plain girls shirts. As long as it's cotton, do you think it would work with the iron on?

i found this through notmartha.com, so some of you may have it already:

also, the main site (http://www.craftpop.com) has tons of informative links for those of you who haven't already checked it out.

hey hey.

i'm wondering if and how i could turn one of these [i just bought the star shaped one] into a belt buckle. i'm making fun stuff to bring to burning man, and i figure a giant light belt buckle would be great for when i'm out on the playa at night.

here's the thing. i thought of hot glue, or something, but that would MELT under the hot sun out there [nevada blackrock desert. HOT.] i was thinking of using those little bra clasps as a way to put the belt on [i'm thinking of making the strap out of fun fur, or something], but i'm trying to figure out how to make the star stay on the fabric without it melting off in the heat.

does that make sense? suggestions?

Hello everyone, Im' new here. Thanks to some spare time I could work on a little project.
I bought a T-shirt and decided to paint a little drawing on it. It is a combination between the USA flag and two strawberries.. Found it on an old Japanese magazine.

hey girls. I just tried screen printing for the first time, and while I like it a lot, I messed up. :\ I already figured out a lot of what my errors were (not enough negative space, etc) but I'm not sure if the paint I used to screen helped mess it up more. so I have two questions:

1. when screen printing (using the old pantyhose/embroidery hoop method), is it better to use a thicker or thinner paint?

2. will matte fabric paint dilute easily with water?

thank you!

so the point is.. does anyone know of a good (easily adjustable) pattern for a puppy coat or sweater? a sweater would be best but i would appreciate any help. thanks.

oh i noticed a lot of people asking where to get tote bags and tshirts for cheap lately. i get this catalog in the mail http://www.orientaltrading.com/otcweb/application?namespace=main and i thought it might be helpful.
thanks!

Just curious:
I have a pattern for a skirt with an elastic waist band. The fabric I bought is a bit thin (ie: see through) so I was wondering if there was a way to build a liner into the skirt. Anyone have any ideas?

I made this bracelet using the presewn cuff of an old white shirt and tons and tons of pearly white buttons.

It took about an hour, I worked on it while I watched television. :)

i work in a frame shop and got a memo today from our corporate office about the difference between "acid-free" and "lignin-free" matboards. it's matboard specific, but the information is just as easily applied to papers and whatnot for those of you who do scrapbooking or anything else where preservation is an issue. just thought i'd pass it along!
