I want to start selling some of the bottle cap magnets I have made. I want to put stick them to a lightweight piece of cardboard and then put them in a bag with a label to close it so people don't pick and chose.

My question is, what kind of adhesive could I use to make them stick to the cardboard without really sticking to it. You know how you get somethings and there is some sort of adhesive, almost like rubber cement (credit cards are stuck to the paper when they get sent to you using this). What is it? Would rubber cement work?

I originally used this shirt to test out my twiggy stencil i posted earlier, but I decided if I did it, I might as well use it for something.
It was originally a small men's tank top, but it was huge, when i pulled it all the way on it went halfway down my thighs, and the arm holes were huge
So i sewed up the top and bottom (which was so hard, the first time i sewed the bottom i frogot to take into accoutn the stretch factor, and it wouldn't fit over my shoulders, so i had to take out alllll the stiching and re do it.

annnyway. i'm pretty pleased with the shape of the shirt now, but the stencil left something to be desired.
is there any way i can get rid of the stray paint splotches near the bottom of the stencil?

I have collected boxes of lucky strikes (because they are too damn cute) and jones soda labels and tops (anyone who is unfamiliar with jones, go drink some, and look under the top, there is always a cute saying/fortune whatever.)

and now i have a bunch and lack the inspiration as to what to do with them! any ideas??

this is why i love you.

Today I was writing in my journal about how coloring is very theraputic for me, and I got to thinking, there should be a coloring book for us older kids. I would love to put together a compliation zine of line drawings and/or comics by different zinesters. Ideally, it would have some sort of a very loose theme. My idea is very random but really great moments, like climbing on your roof to watch fireworks or seeing someone blowing bubbles out of a car window (that was me.) But I am open to different ideas. Would anyone be interested in doing this or does anyone have any suggestions? I think this would be a really great idea!

I am about to begin my first Sculpey project (covering a small altoid tin)
and I was wondering what was the best way to store clay that I wasn't going
to finish using? I assumed in ziplocks would be fine, but I was wondering if
anyone had any tips and tricks for good storage of the stuff.

Thanks!

Hi there. I have a question. My local craft store only has natural colored tote bags and I want a black tote bag. So would rit fabric dye in black work on this natural bag? I have used other colors, but not black, and it would seem that a rich dark black would be hard to achieve with diy dye. And also..if it did work, would it end up rubbing off on my clothes and stuff at all? Thanks!

Wow, weird...I posted these in my own journal already, but now I feel all...naked.

Anyway, I post comments here every once in awhile because you folks are fab squared, but I haven't really posted any of my own stuff, so...um...I thought I would!

i made a camera bag for my digital camera. blue vinyl, magazine picture covered with clear vinyl, lined with velour, and slightly padded. i haven't made the closure yet, but it will probably be velcro.

A sketchbook made out of an old hardcover book, I Capture The Castle T-shirt, and a painting. ++here++ )

Hello, total newbie to this community, but murdercitygrrrl asked me to cross post this here from sew_hip...

This started off as a reply to the girls who seem to be having trouble threading their new machines, but sort of went off into a post of it's own to newbie stitchers...

Has anyone had sucess in selling crafts at garage sales? My aunt is having one in a couple weeks and I'm not sure if I want to invest my time and money if garage-salers aren't usually interested in buying handmade things.

A friend of mine and I are vendors at a craft/etc. market every Saturday so I'm going to be making lots of stuff for it - mostly bags and shawls or ponchos. Here's my latest bag. It's a little patchy. )

Okay, I don't want this to be off-topic, but I wanted to say that for those of you who buy t-shirts for crafting and want to avoid sweatshop labor, there is a really interesting article about American Apparel in the latest(?) issue of JANE magazine. The one with drew barrymore on the front.

i wont make any more sweatshop posts for at least a week or two, promise!;)

My grandmother has been clearing out her closets and her garage, and came up with a bunch of old clothing that had holes in it, were ripped, or slightly stained in spots. She decided to give me this fabric, because some of it was still useable for small projects.

So anyway, I found this shirt that my mom wore when she was maybe 4 or 5. The front had moth holes in it, so I knew that I couldn't reconstruct it into anything wearable, but maybe into something like an accessory. This is also why I didn't take a picture of it before making it into anything...I completely cut off the hole-ridden section.

I came up with this:

It's a stretchy messenger bag. The handle is crocheted with a burgandy yarn I had left over from last Christmas:)
