I'm going to paint/decorate/whathaveyou a barstool seat as a gift for a friend.

can i use a clear sealer that's meant for after-wood-staining as a sealant for acrylics/acrylic paper cut outs?? would it ruin it??

do you have recommendations if that's not a good idea??

ill certainly post pics of the finished barstool.

i'm knitting a feather type wool blanket/throw (depending on how much wool i can find) made of squares. each ball makes 6 squares and the left over wool makes a hat and scarf for a barbie doll. please excuse barbies nakedness but she's a $2 shop barbie and her hot pink plastic coat was clashing with my creation.

my first go at soap crafting. a week later they look like they have wee crystals in them. i'm not sure if it's where i am storing them (in a seal container in the hall) or the fact i used food colouring in them.

Hello, you crafty ladies. This is my first post here. Beneath the cut, you will find three shirts which have been posted in [livejournal.com profile] t_shirt_surgery, two boxes my best friend made for me, things made from duct tape, old pictures from the 60's (which I need your help with), and an arts & crafts project from camp I made with my group of 6-year-old boys.

here are the pics )

I hope you guys enjoyed all the stuff I posted!!! I'm planning on doing more stuff this summer... and I love seeing all the stuff you guys make.
Bye!

I bought some white feathers yesterday, & I was wondering what the best way to color them would be (and cheapest)?

Can I use koolaid? Would it be like dying yarn with koolaid???

I realize Voldemort's face is kind of crooked looking... it was hard to stand the doll up without it looking that way. His turban was a pain and I have to pin it to keep it on. Needless to say he was fun to make an my children find him terrifying without the turban.

I have 4 guinea pigs: 2 of which are 8-9 years old (ie. old piggies living out their golden years).
And I have a few oversized tees that no one ever wears.

Put them together and I made this for them.

Yesterday, to try and take my mind off of the heat, I made a dress out of what once resembled a floor length, shapeless, pink-bag-of-an-XL-dress. I'm an XS. So things were interesting. It's as fitted as I could make it so I could still slip it on and off without having to add a zipper.

Final Product. )

This is the lot of glass painting supplies I bought for 10.00 at a garage sale. Most of them were brandnew.

You know, when a pattern tells you this:

"Working along opposite side of starting ch, join double strand of cotton in first st, sc in each st across..."

It doesn't really want you to make a craft. It actually wants to tie your hands up in little, crampy knots, just so it can laugh at your pain. No, really.

(sorry there's no pic, I just needed to vent at folks who would understand)

here are a couple of things I made recently.  One is a headband I knitted for a craft swap on Craftster and the other is a change purse made from a tea bag and packaging tape.

Here is the headband:

I need some help. I looked in the memories and I looked online real quick and couldn't find something to help me.
I want to take old records my mom found in her closet and make a clock out of them.
I owe my father a Father's Day present..heh heh....And I will see him next week, so I wanna make him a clock.
Does anyone have a tutorial or can direct me in the direction of how to do one?
Also, I would need the parts for a clock...are they expensive?
Thanks.

One of the things I'm planning to give my sister for her birthday is jewelry. I want to make earrings with pineapple, popsicles, flip flops and cute things like that. My questions are:
1) WHERE would I be able to get hold of this stuff? Are these things likely to be at a dollar store? Excuse me for being dumb.
2) What other kinds of earrings could I make?
3) What other materials do I need to make jewelry? Sorry if this is posted in the memories, you can just direct me to that post. My sister's in the room and I'm trying to hide what I'm doing from her @_@. Haha.

It's going to her her 18th birthday so I want it to be special. She's a harlequin romance novel freak. Any ideas?

We were recently in Italy, so I want to take the pictures and do something with it. Should I make a scrapbook?

Thanks.

so i have probably been in this community over a year, but this will be my first post. my name is tanya, i'm 18 and live in massachusetts. yesterday i sewed for the first time ever (besides stuff like, sewing a button on a shirt or small rips). i made a purse! this is 100% handsewn, because i do not have a sewing machine. hope you like it. i didn't get a shot of the inside, but it's the same material that is on the top of the outside. the right corner looks a little wierd, and i plan on fixing that tonight.

here are the pictures! )

what do you think?

Alright...Question...I saw yesterday, someone made flowers from felt. Well about an hour ago, I went to Michael's and bought a few sheets of felt and one of the sheets of felt with the sticky stuff on the back of it (I thought I could use it as the 'base' of the flower (ie - the leaves). I went to venuszine and saw the tutorial but honestly, I'm not into sewing, so when I went to Michael's I bought my felt, some beads, pins, and a hot glue gun.

Am I doing it all wrong, or do you think that it will turn out alright with taking the non sewing approach?

Thanks.

I never really post alot of my projects on here too often, most of the time Im on here asking questions. I actually have alot of projects going on, I just never feel the desire to post them I guess, hehe. But this time, Im posting one of my more recent projects.

I made this purse from a plain wooden box that I had picked up from Michaels craft store. I put new hardware on it, made a very unique handle out of heart shape glass beads, other glass beads, metal beads, and silver wiring. I think the handle is the best part. Boy, was it hard finding the perfect beads to fit on the handle, and still match the box! I decoupaged the entire box with red, white, black & white stiped, and film strip tissue paper that I also picked up from Michael's. This was my first decoupage project, and it was a pain! On the one side I found a picture online of a 1920s-30's actress to print out and paste onto my box, and used red ribbon to border it. For the inside I first padded it with this fusable fleece stuff, the used red moster fur for the main interior, and black & white polka dot fabric for the border.

The rest is here )
