I just love it though! I want to make more springy thingies!

Okay so i feel dumb. But i was just about to make a hand stiched broach using felt and well i dont understand how you are meant to finish the sewing off. I dont want to have that ugly knot at the end.
Anyone know the answer?

anyone know if there is a paint that dries and makes the surface of a whiteboard? like whiteboard paint? i know they make chalkboard paint and stuff... i have a whiteboard that's scratched and i rather like the look of it and if i have to buy a new one then so be it, but i was hoping you guys might know of something.

also, i want to make a mobile of the chinese zodiac. i want the pictures to look like cartoon-ish, cutesy, and fluffy looking. any idea where i can track down pictures of these? the bigger the pictures, the better.

I've been pretty busy lately. I made the blankie over winter break, and I sewed the Yoshisaurus (for my friend Yoshi) and the monster last night. I have no idea what to name the monster. These are my first real stuffed aminals (rather than the simple, none-too-durable felt things with visible blanket stitch). They still aren't terribly complex, but I'm feeling much more confident after making them.

I wrote my first tutorial. If there are any questions, please let me know, and I will try to fine tune it so it's clear. You can see it at my craft blog: http://umbrellamaker.blogspot.com/.

It shows you how to make scarves like these:

I have finally finshed my first pair of knitted socks! It was really fun, and I can feel a new addiction comming on! The only problems that I had were holes here and there but I sewed em up and I think they look great!

I made them with the help of the sock knit along on the Art of Knitting 2 or Joys of Knitting 2, I'm really drawing a blank on the name of the DVD but as soon as I remember I will correct it.
They were knitted on size 8 double pointed needles with size 7/8ish cotton yarn! :D They're really thick but warm as hell!

Sorry I couldn't get a better picture, it's hard to take pictures of your own feet!

here's another one )

I made this little purse just before Xmas and just now got around to posting a picture of it. I'm quite proud of it -- not only do I think the blue japanesey fabric is absolutely adorable, but I drafted the pattern for this all by my lonesome! Lol, that summer at Parsons really did do me some good!

This was also my first time sewing again in... oh, six months or so. As such, there are a few small mistakes that (of course) really stick out to me, but they're patched up as best I can. You can't even tell, can you?

Well although everyone got their presents late this year I finally did work up the courage to play with resin. I saved up my beer caps all summer and had lots of fun.
Sorry for the grainy photos, I'm not sure what happened there.

Does anyone know where to get nice cabochons? I found these on a whim and would really like to add some more to my collection. Thanks!

I was trying to make some of those cute little guys that everyone seems to be making. One of them kept getting bigger and bigger:

maybe it's an eggplant? )

This one is more monstery:

a pink snowperson? )

They are both sitting against an afgan I made last week and are stuffed with pieces of old (clean) socks. the eggplant feels very solid and is lovely to hold.

Skirts!

I got my daughter a sewing machine for Christmas and she wants to make a bolero. She is looking for free patterns on the Web. Can you guys lead us to a few sites? Thanks a bunch!

Okay to begin with, I am not much of a painter (haven't practiced much, not much of a water colour fan, prefer acryrlics) however had to do this for art class. The project was to manipulate a photo (using photoshop) then to paint it. I kept the manipulations fairly simply, along with the colour scheme. Any how, I was somewhat happy with the results (I will admit there is a lot of room for improvement, but still content with it)

So I give you....

Does anyone have any tips on how to paint on the detail lines onto t-shirts?
I am not very good with a paintbrush so I was hoping there are some easier ways to get fine lines on the thisrt with black ink.
Maybe a calligraphy pen?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

.... this has to be a post only as I have no idea how to put pictures in here!

So, I've had this idea kicking around in the back of my head, and I've casually mentioned to my boyfriend that I totally should make a Firefox cross stitch. I finally got around to looking for one on-line but have been unsuccessful and I don't want to get a pattern generating program just for that, since I'm not *that* big of cross stitcher. Could anyone turn this into a pattern for me or have a link to such a pattern(and any other random geeks that are dying to do such things?)?

So... I wanted to make my best friend Dennis a photo quilt with pictures of me and him for christmas. It was obviously already going to be an after winter break/christmas kinda gift, but since i've NEVER before quilted in my life I just felt really intimdated by the thought of a quilt.... SO, instead I bought a fleece blanket, a yard of patterned fleece, some inkjet printer fabric (THE BEST STUFF EVER!) and some buttons... and this is what I did instead.

(the pictures are good but don't fully display the cuteness.)

I'm going to try out a tutorial I've been working on for a DIY lunch bag. I have all my materials and I have a few pictures to go off of, so it should work out. . .Hopefully, super-cute!

If it works I'll post it with nice pics and stuff.

In the meantime, anyone know what I can do with those plastic containers that you get packages of Crystal Light in? All I can think is a pen cup, for holding spare pens and stuff by the phone. But I know you guys can do better than that.

Please and thank you! :)

Using a hat I already owned, I made myself a hat pattern this weekend. I made a practice one with cardboard in the brim, then I went out, bought some buckram and cooler fabric, and made another. I like how it turned out, especially the lining. The ribbon is attached with a pin, so it's totally detachable.

More of the same... )
