This isn't so much crafty as it fun. .. Tag-Board! I got one for my site. You can customize the colors and smile faces. Very fun, even if you're the only one who signs it :( haha.

And crafty. . .

Hi!
Maybe the answer to my question is in the memories section, but it is not working right now...

Is it possible to make candles by melting store-bought candles and reusing the wax? If so, do I have to take extra precautions?

Thank you

last year, I lost one of my friends from high school suddenly. He was in a band, and I have his band's shirt, but I want to do something to kinda preserve it, instead of wearing it. My immediate thought was a tshirt quilt, but it's only one shirt...

any thoughts?

thanks in advance :)

oh, and sorry for the text only. When Thesis stops taking over my life, I'll post plenty of pics.

Helloo!!

I know it's not really 'crafty', but I wanted to make sure to put up the cake my daughter and I recently made for my husband;

The next in my line of career squids:

Her name is Anna Squidlova and she's truly a prima ballerina!

more detail photos behind the cut )

So there you go my friends. Anna Squidlova! The bulk of her was crochet out of acrylic yarn. Her tentacles are poseable (I finally figured out the best way to do this) and she's really really adorable. I'm really happy about the progress my squid have been making. I can't wait to finish the next one!

For those of you have the Badge-a-minit button maker, do you really need the circle cutters? Seems to me you can just cut the circles out yourself? I'm choosing between the 1 1/4" starter kit or system. The main difference between them is the circle cutter and the 100 button set. But i can just pay $20 and get 100 sets with my 59.95 kit instead of paying 99.95 and getting the circle cutter if it isnt needed. So yes....advice!! Thanks!

So, I did the army men thing on Sunday, and it came out great, I'm not sure why people were having so many problems, so then I bought a buttload of astroboys and forgot they were in the oven, so the bottom of the astroboy one is charred.

I shallow dished them so they sat flatter to the table.

I love how some of their heads s'ploded.

The quilt and the crocheted bag to make a nice ladybug set for my sister.

Close Up

My mom went to visit my sister to help her out when she had surgery last year. Mom went to take a shower and my sister made a point of making sure to tell her not to hurt the 7 ladybugs that had found thier way into her shower. How they got there I will never know, I was never told and seriously don't think anyone knows, but they couldn't be put outside. It was cold and there was snow everywher and my sister was sure they wouldn't last outside. So thus the ladybug quilt was born for her. She is a huge fan of them.

This is the top to the ladybug quilt for my sister. I crocheted a bag to match it that it will go in when it is sent to her. The rest of it needs to be finished, but the top is the best part. :)

I love Van Gogh and decided to try doing one on one of the clay faces that I like to do with my own version of Starry Night, the painting is 1.5 inches across and I just love the way it turned out. I think this is one of my all time favorites.

I think it will look really cool as a pendant or art doll face.

Dear all....

Remember my hopeful post about being a vendor for the WWRF? I was going to be showing and selling pieces from my Silver Leaves Collection (mostly)....pieces that look like this...

A lot of people asked me to post an update about how things went. Well, I'll spare you the full rant/whimperage about that disaster unless you really want details, but suffice to say, because of the failure of others to do their jobs, my work was never shown or sold.

My advice to you all?

1) Do not trust FedEx.
2) If you have to trust FedEx, make sure that your contract with a conseignee for a particular event includes a clause about how their "custody" of your goods, during which their contracted responsibilities apply, starts when your goods arrive at their local FedEx facility, assuming FedEx does not manage to deliver.

This has been a public service announcement brought to you by the letter R and the sound of screaming.

I have this ) amazing technicolor dream scarf made out of Lion Brand Microspun which I love very much. I have a small problem though. As you can see here ) the once woven in ends have come back out a little with stretch and wear. My initial instinct is to just trim them to their new, broken in adjusted length, but I'm worried that if I re-trim the ends, they'll just work their way back out again. Should I cut the little part sticking out off or will they just do it again? Does my question make sense?

I saw a stuffed sheep at a thrift store that had buttons connecting the legs onto the body visibly (as in the buttons sewn onto the front of the arms and legs connecting them to the body). I know I've seen these stuffies before with like country themed house decor, and such. I tried doing a google search for pics/design descriptions since I'd like to make a couple things like that myself and all I found were designs with the buttons on the side.

Does anyone own a stuffy like this yourself you can take a pic of, or point me to a website about making them? I swear I'll post pics of my "super creative" projects once I make them *G*

It sounds like a dumb question, but I want to know how the heads are connected so I can make these things as "real" as possible :) I'd like to make sculpted miniatures of these, and maybe some sewn patchwork ones. I'm going through my 2nd (or maybe I'm just still in my first ;0P) childhood and think some of those in dog designs around the house would be adorable, plus something to add to my already existing sale inventory.
