So my boyfriend has TONS of bottle caps. He's been saving the caps from every bottle he's drank for something like 4+ years, so I do mean tons. One of his fraternity brothers has an end table covered with his bottle caps and I know he would just die to have a table like that of his own. We have enough room in the office to put a small end table. My question is: how in the world do I make this project come to life? I have no clue how to attach the bottle caps. They'd need to be ultra sturdy as we have two very inquisitive cats. It also can't be anything way complicated unless I can find a tutorial for it because this will be my first time attempting this kind of project. So... any ideas?

Also, I'm very new to these types of projects, so I may ask more questions if you suggest something I'm not familiar with. Thanks in advance for your patience. You ladies are the greatest!

Sorry, text only.
Im looking for a sealer/glaze that will seal acrylic paints to untreated wood. (example of what I want to seal http://community.livejournal.com/craftgrrl/9575657.html)
I dont want to risk the paint chipping off or it getting wet/ruined down the line from use. I tried Mod Podge once before but found that if 2 pieces are modged and touching for a while it will stick, even after its dry, so want to look for an alternative.
thx

Since Photobucket is being such an arse (I dunno if it is just me or what) I have tried this thing called Flickr! So hopefully all goes well...

These are my newest pouches that I have made.

In honor of all the Goldies and Pacman Lovers! Woo!

I'm altering a messenger-style bag for a friend's x-mas pressie, and I found some amazing sequin trim that I would like to attach to the strap. I was wondering what the easiest + sturdiest way would be to go about doing this would be. I haven't worked with trims before, and have only done minimal straight line sewing machine (ie: pillows) work. I don't want it to "puff" in the middle, if I were to only sew the sides. I'd really like to get the trim as centered and straight/lined-up with the bag's strap as possible. Mayhaps fabric glue (or would E6000 work?) it first and then sew down the sides? I'm also kinda worried about hitting the sequins with a sewing machine needle... Would hand sewing it be a better choice, and if so, could you recommend a stitch? Any ideas on how to finish off the ends to avoid fraying/sequin explosions? Thank you so much!

This is the trim:

(Lj seek doesn't want to play today, and i've scoured the memories/FAQ, so hopefully this is not a redundant question!)

All of these earrings are hanging on chains which have been disected from necklaces I don't like anymore, as well as the stars, and the buttons were never meant to be beads. The pop tabs, of course, were snatched from cans which were recycled.

I had some extra Monopoly houses and hotels lying around so I decided to turn them into earrings.

Anyone know of a chain store (Wal-Mart, Target, K-Mart, etc.) that sells blank hoodies/zip up hoodies or t-shirts?

I want to start stenciling and silk screening again but I don't want to order my stuff from American Apparel. I want to actually go to a store and pick it out.

I'm from New York, btw - but if it's a chain store, all states carry the same inventory for the most part.

Thanks! :)

My Mom wants a soldering iron specifically for jewelry for Christmas. I thought it would be simple, just go to Fire Mountain Gems (www.firemountaingems.com) and order one from them. Turns out they don't have any. I passed the buck to my Dad to try and find one but he just ended up getting confused. All he could find were butane irons that had an "open flame" (like welding) that were capable of reaching the temperature necessary to solder jewelry silver.

So.

1) Does a jewelry soldering iron exist, or are they all basically tiny butane torches?
2) If soldering iron exists, recommend me one for a first timer.
3) Where can I buy said iron?

So, because I am a poor college student, instead of buying my family presents, I just baked them A LOT of shortbread cookies (because nothing says love like shortbread). I need to figure out some cookie safe, festive and affordable way to package said delicious treats for a 4 hour car trip to my parents house. What are your suggestions? I am short on money and on time.

So, i bought these shorts from Target & I wanted to iron on the word "Cal Poly" onto the butt to give to my BFF for Christmas.  They're 'athletic' shorts made up of 73% cotton, 17% rayon, & 9% polyester. does that sound like material that won't crack iron ons?

basically like this:

So what does everybody do with their left over christmas tree decorations?

Every time we put up a christmas tree (this has been our first in a few years) we do kind of a goofy one, this year we basically created every 5 year old girls dream christmas tree, and it is fabulous. The only problem is, we have massive amounts of glittery star/snowflake hybrids and little pink and purple plastic balls and I can't see us ever using them again. Now I'm not one to waste things so I really want to put these to good use after the holiday season.
