I found these really cool lightweight unpainted wood boxes and though that if I hand painted them and added a yarn strap that they would make adorable little wood purses. One is painted with a bare autumn tree with two crows or ravens on it and the other one is of a dolphin diving down (the painting on both wraps around the sides and back a bit.

engraved on the box before I painted it are the words "Boite en bois" . I also drilled holes for the handle and found this really pretty rainbow yarn which I used for the hand strap I also added a pretty sparkle flower rhinestone on the button that the elastic strap stretches around.

Each box measures approximately 4 inches tall and wide by 1.75 inches thick.

Maybe I'm losing my mind, but I swear that when I had my old PC, I had downloaded a free program that allowed me to turn any picture into a cross-stitch pattern. I remember opening a pic of my cousin's dog and starting it but never finishing it, but what was so cool was that really, the pattern wasn't just for cross-stich, it was like a mini grid that could be used for tons of different crafts. I don't remember what the program was called and can't find it anywhere.

Anyways, what I'm really looking for is that program, or something like it, so that I can turn pictures into patterns for square-stich beaded bracelets and coin purses for gifts. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

I love this clear vinyl fabric from Hancock! My friend's bday party is today at 5 o' clock and I just remembered that she loves ladybugs. Does anyone have any quick projects that I could make with it besides the mini beach bag that I'll probably end up making anyways?

Quick question for you lovelies
Any idea how to sew a wide satin ribbon, or strip of relatively non stretchy material, to the hems of an extremely stretchy cotton-nylon dress? Should I just stretch the material as much as I can as I run it through the sewing machine?

Before I use my new can/bottle of resin..
How do you keep the cap from sticking after use?

After a few uses, the top on the last can started sticking. I made sure to wipe it off before putting on the cap, but it still got permanently glued shut. (We tried to use pliers and the can started to buckle) I'm afraid to open this new can now, without some advice.

Hey ladies, I'm looking for knotting cord, or silk thread? I'm starting to get into Macrame and I can NOT for the life of me find any NICE string to use. As of now, I found some cotton from Michaels, and I'm not sure how that is going to work :\ If you have any suggestions as to where to find any cord like that, or if cotton would work, anything would be appreciated!! <3 Like the kind for pearl knotting? Or somethign where MOSTLY the string would be used, and minimal beads.

(I checked Michaels already :()

This one came out really good! Plus I had good luck with accurate placement of the cubic zirconia in her belly button. Her hair came from a new twistie tutorial I read yesterday which is now my official favorite kind of twistie & way to make twisties (cause it was so easy to do).

For those who are interested, I found the heat/cool quick method seemed to be the best for bringing raku colour out. I made the goddess shape in black, added the raku frit, heated it and let it do some gravity type swirl things, then pressed it against my graphite marver. Then I heated it hot again, and pressed it again (not hard enough to change the shape, just enough for the graphite to cool the glass). I did this a bunch of times. I then added the breasts, head, hair, butt, belly, and cubic zirconia (which I covered with a teeny bit of clear, I don't trust them to stay in otherwise) an stuck it in the kiln.

I'm getting my first pair of crocs and want to make some jibbitz knockoffs, maybe with shrinky dink fronts. Any ideas for what I could use on the back sides?

i was thinking of doing some sort of decoupage but  i am unsure of what to do it one.
i think just putting it on a large posterboard/cardboard might be tacky looking? idunno.
he is a guy so doing something like a jewlery box is out of the question. howver he is athletic, likes the army, etc.
do you guys/girls have any ideas of what kind of material i should use?

sorry for the all text post, ill post some recent crafts later on :D

over the years i've been collecting fabrics and scarves i find at flea markets and tag sales. today i decided to try making something out of them
[identity profile] frankcheez.livejournal.com
Craftgrrl member [livejournal.com profile] chellichanga just posted pics of an iPod cozy she made with old scarves and asked for ideas on what to do with other scarves. I told her I'd share with you something my friend and I made out of scarves we got from thrift stores.

I haven't done any scoubidou-knotting in two years. It was nice to try some new things, before I had done only boring multicoloured keychains with basic knots. At least this one has got wings and nose and tentacles.

Here it is! )

I started with a wooden box, some papers, glue, wooden beads, and the trim.  I had lost the directions so I just started going with it and half way through I found them and realized there was black paint that I didn't see before.  This was a very awesome find because I started to paint the box and also on one side created a little effect.  I am not sure how much I like it, but I am certainly in love with making purses now.

I love the Creative Women Kit's I get from Annies Attic every month.  I really helps me break away and do something else for a while.

EDIT:
I am sorry for not linking to it before.
Annies Attic is an online website that I have gotten a few things from.  I love the site and the kit club has some really great things in it.  I do suggest looking and if you can do it, I really suggest finding a way and joining.
