Jul. 25th, 2007 12:52 amHere's a question for all you crafty peeps:
I have to cut out 1500 2.5"x2.5" fabric squares out of many yards of 44" fabric.
Any ideas for a cheap, efficient, and accurate way to do this that will get the job done as fast as possible using household items?
I don't have the money to go buy all the fancy quilting stuff that I really want for this project like rotary cutters, templates, self-healing mats and stuff because I spent all the money I had budgeted for this project on the fabric, and don't have any more to spare from any other project I have budgeted.
I thought about using one of those huge paper cutters that are like a huge curved blade with a handle attached to a platform, but I tried a sample at my mom's office the other day, and it only came out exact with interfacing on the back so the fabric didn't warp while it was being cut. And since it's a quilt, interfacing strong enough to keep it from warping in the cutter would make the quilt too stiff to use.
I really would like to not have to sit there and cut around a single 2.5" x 2.5" foamboard template 1500 times, because with school, I certianly wouldn't have the thing even finished being cut by christmas, when the whole thing needs to be done for. Measuring by hand would also suck.
Help me!
