I've been reading here for so long and haven't posted any of my crafts...

But now, I finally can!

I made a bunch of cardboard cut-outs for Halloween, plus some shpooky curtains, a creepy spider egg sack, and a bunch of clippable bats (I glued the cardboard bats to clothes pins that I had painted black and put the clippy bit where their claws would be so they'd hang up-side-down).

Lots and LOTS of pictures here: http://kjc007.livejournal.com/81004.html

Ideas courtesy of Martha Stewart, who actually has kick-ass Halloween projects large and small.

I went to work yesterday dressed for success as a computer virus, since I work with computer peeps all day. It was awesome and I won the costume contest! $50!! Woohoo! Here are some pics!

The boots have error messages and virus names on them, the shield has the blue screen of death error message and ctrl alt del keys embedded in it. Many computer accessories died for the making of this outfit.

I decided to dress as Lady Macbeth for Halloween, and in doing so, wanted a way to have bloody hands without actually dying my skin :) Alas, a pair of nylon/spandex white gloves, some RIT scarlet dye, a very unhappy sink later..

Out! Out, damn spot! )

trade ya?

I'll trade y'all a picture of my home-brewed, -bottled, and -labeled hard cider if you'll not razz me for a "someone posted this and I can't find it" post...

Please forgive the tilt--the label loosened while in the cooler and dried back on that way. It was pretty good but I think I need to blend the gravenstein juice with something less acidic.

The request: someone was trying to preserve a deceased pet fish, I think in resin. I've looked through the memories and used LJseek and didn't find it. Is this someone still on the boards and can she tell me how it worked?

This is all stuff that I've been making in a pottery class that I've been taking. I've been having lots of fun making cups because I got to buy some stoneware clay. Since they're stoneware, they can be microwaved or used in an oven. Most of them will probably be Christmas presents. I love how the high-fire glazes melt together. The teapot and the shell dish are the only two made out of regular clay. Several pictures behind the cut. )

Yeah, you remember my post about my little sister's costume? Yeah, I'm a horrible copycat. Or...copyheartless.

Cute lil monster...oh, and I'm wearing a costume. )

Here's the pumpkin! )

Here is an altoid tin I converted to a little 'straw' box for a dozing kitty. She's dreaming of birds.

Alright ladies, I've been through the memories but didn't see anything like this.

Best clear casting resin?
Would latex molds or silicone molds for small things (not even an 1"x1)?
What kind of mold product do you find is best?
Will silicone need a release?

During my senior year, I finally had my sewing machine with me and a great excuse to make a costume for Halloween. Read more... )

So, Halloween arrived with mixed success on my part.  Clicky the Wonder Eye came together in a rough but functional incarnation.  (I snagged a little bit of video of him in action, but nothing great...I'll have to re-film and post it later.)  Rob's costume came together great, but alas, the airship telegraph went from Mark I to Mark Crap in the final hours of prep time.  So, we stuffed the electronics into the shell, taped it closed, and made a bag to hide the ills while still letting the neat blinky lights flash.  Bah.  :(  (This will be fixed, and improved upon, just not right now.)

But at least we looked good.  :)

So it was a bit rushed in the end, but I finished my first crochet project last night.

Hi all.. i'm a long time watcher and this is my first post here..
I've been trying to bookbind a bit, lately and this is the third project i've come up with: it is my first sewn notebook and it has pockets in its pages.. so i can put all my listings (to do lists, wishlisting etc.) in it.

Hope you like it.. anyway constructive criticism is highly appreciated

I have an idea to screw to bookcases together, add some moulding and paint it all to give it a cohesive look. Only the two bookcases in question are completely different from each other. One is that cheapy lamenant particle board type stuff in a blond wood finish and the other is made of real wood that is stained and finished.

Tips, tricks or warnings on how to make them look the same?

I certainly hate to do this...but can anyone tell me the best place (online or otherwise in the US) that I can purchase ring bases? I'd like to start making rings, but don't know what the best thing to use is...I'd like something circular that I could possibly put beads on or string beads onto...any ideas anyone? Does anyone make anything like this?

Help! :)

Thanks so much
