I have 9 weeks to go before my baby comes and decided it was time to start making up some clothes.  That and, my ankles are swollen and I need to be productive while I sit with my feet in the air :) So, instead of welding, which requires a lot of standing, I decided to put away my leathers and pick up a hook for a while.  Here is a lil summer fluff I whipped up with some scrap yarn in about 3 hours last night--look! I may have enough yarn left for matching booties :)

Oh, before I show the picture, whoever posted the Russian join in [profile] crochetcrochet  yesterday is the bomb!  I cant even see the joint at all and I have no worries that it will come unraveled.  No more knotting and weaving for me :)

Also, I took to writing each step of my pattern on a seperate index card, puchning a hole through them all and stringing a ribbon, keychain loop, etc through the holes.  It worked out awesome as well and I never lost my place because it was right there on the last card I looked at.  As I moved through the deck, I just flipped the cards.  It went so much faster and my pattern isn't covered with highlighter marks.  Definately do this you guys, it helps so much.

Here is the baby summer dress I made:

I have a lot of trouble with shoulder/neck pain, which gives me pretty frequent headaches. I did used to have a little shop-bought wheat pack thing, but it got fried in the old microwave. So I made myself a newer, better one!

I have been crocheting these little granny squares for a while, and finally decided to get off my ass and put them together into a rug. It's pretty mini.

So I "made" these necklaces. I hardly count this as a craft, because I did almost nothing, but I needed a boost to my crafting numbers :D

i think this is probably the coolest thing i have ever made. i saw the pendant and it was just like "need to make that' then i bought the rest of the supplies right then and there. i like it so much i wrote a poem about it.

under the cut, one more shot of it, and then some crocheted stuff.

I contributed some items to a fundraiser to send 15 students to Thailand. Here's what I made for them:

After I posted my prototype this morning, I went ahead and started on the dress I am going to give away at the baby shower I'm going to this weekend.   (She is due 1 week before me) A couple of you asked for the pattern which is here:  http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/angel-wings-pinafore.html and one of you had asked for the Russian join link that was posted yesterday--now on my permanent favorite's list :) and it is here: http://www.knittinganyway.com/freethings/russianjoin.htm

The pattern is actually a pinafore, but with an easy seam up the back and a button, you have a very cute and cool summer dress.  Now, I hope she likes it :)  Total time: 6 hours.  This includes the trim bits and the button sewing--oh and I took 15 minutes choosing a ribbon :)

Okay I have this crazy idea in my head and I'm not sure if it will work. I figured I'd ask here to see if anyone has made this attempt - failed or had success.

So, I really want a canvas type "painting" for my living room above my couch. I'm having a hard time finding the correct type of look and I think I want it to be separated, not just one big canvas. So I'm thinking three smaller paintings (15x15 and a similar pattern) spaced out on the wall horizontally by about an inch or two. I found a print online for about $15. Now there's an option to transfer it to a canvas, which would cost about $50 extra..... insane in my opinion.

Now my question is, has anyone taken a print and transferred it themselves onto a canvas. In my head I'm thinking of just taking the print, getting some modgepodge or something like a spray glue and transferring it onto a canvas. Maybe even doing some kind of matte finish brush stroke texture ontop to give it that "painted" look.

Am I crazy to think this might work or will I just be wasting my money?

So tmdegenstien wanted me to post up my shrinky dink jewelry, so I took pics, and some other stuff I do also.  I have like 60-70 necklaces in my "collection."  LOL, its really just the crap I can't stand to get rid of!

Most people seem to hate it. I, on the other hand, love the look. Is there a way I can safely tarnish my brighter metals to give them a more antiqued look? Sorry this is text only, but I should have pictures of the jewelry I've made soon.

And I've taken up a new craft since then-- wire jewelry making. This one is the one I wear the most and I love making the swirls (which I've been told are called Egyptians)

More stuff-- very pic heavy. )

ok, I have just a plain necklace and several revisions of nursing necklaces. Each one is somewhat of a different style and all are crocheted. The crochet makes them strong but the metal ring that the stitches are around makes it unbreakable. I went ahead and put most behind a cut because there are many pictures. I'd love input if you have any.

A bunch of different revisions...some scary )

So I did some quilting in December during winter break and found that I really enjoy it. The only quilting I'd done before this was a t-shirt quilt that I had a lot of help on and these I did by myself. They're pretty basic but I think they turned out pretty good.
