I have a deck of playing cards that unfortunately isn’t complete. I lost a few of the cards. Can anyone think of anything crafty I can do with the remaining ones?

i'm sick. I feel like mold, i look like mold and i'm mean as hell. nobody wants to be around me, but my boyfriend has been putting up with my shit and he's the greatest. i want to make him a small token of my appreciation, i was thinking a stuffed robot. because, well.. if someone made me a stuffed robot, my heart would melt. i remember someone making one on this community, but i don't know where the entry is. yes, i checked the memories you skanks, but i could only find a pattern for the tin man from the wizard of oz and thats too odd, even for me.

ok the point-- would anybody happen to have a pattern for a plain jane robot? my sewing skills are pretty okay, and i could probably do it without a pattern, but i'm already sick and cranky and would like to avoid any further fustration at all costs.

any other ideas besides a stuffed robot are greatly appreciated since making a stuffed robot is semi-impractical for my magnitude of snot.

and no, i will not bake brownies.

Hi craftgrrls,

My 3-week old craft puncher is acting up. It doesn't cut all the way through anymore and tends to get stuck at a specific part of the shape. I'm not using particularly thick paper - it's normal copier paper. Do any of you have the same problem and do you know how to remedy it? I hear that running sandpaper through the puncher helps. I've tried that without success. Would appreciate any input. Thank you!

i have this shirt that I drew all over with sharpie and I was wondering if anyone knew a way to wash the shirt so that it gets clean, but that the sharpie will stay in without bleeding or fading. thanks.

I'd like to start a Stitch and Bitch kind of crafting/quilting/knitting group in Tampa. Any of you girls in the area or have experience with starting a crafting group?

Some (hopefully) simple questions I just can't seem to find the answers to:
1) I'm making a nice sweater with Manos del Uruguay wool. This stuff is really nice, but since it's dyed in a kettle it has a marbled effect where some strands are lighter than others. The little tag on the skeins says to alternate 2 rows from one skein and then 2 rows from another to get a blended effect. I personally think that'll leave too many ends to weave in. Has anyone used Manos del Uruguay? If so, which method did you use and was the finished look nice? (please keep in mind I'm not felting the sweater in the end)
2) The guage for my sweater is 4in=16 sts. on size 9 needles. I cast my stitches really close together and I keep coming up 1/2in short in my guage! Should I switch to larger or smaller needles to get the desired guage?
Thanks! (x-posted to knitting, punk_knitters and craftgrrl)

hi everyone...

i recently bought two pairs of pants that were too long for me so i hemmed them with that glue tape stuff (i don't have a sewing machine, but my MIL is buying me one tomorrow - yayyy!) The hem is holding okay (i have to re-iron the glue every couple of washes or so) but i just bought a pair of high heel boots that i can wear with them and they'll look great without the hem.

so how do I get rid of the glue hem residue? :P Thanks!!!

Hey.
i'm struggling to figure out a poresent for one of my good friends. He's 20, gay, and is in the English program with me at our university. I was thinking about binding a book just for him, but i don't even know how to bind a book. Any other suggestions? i looked in the FAQ, but nothing was suitable for him.
it has to be done by the beginning of december, because he's going home after that until january.

Thanks!

I keep signing up with free sites that shut down. Does anyone have anymore free photo posting sites to refer me to? I need help! Thanks a bunch :)

ok...i want to make a plush of king hippo from the old nintendo game mike tyson's punch out. (pic of him here)

i've never made a plush before, and i have some sketches but i have no idea where to start. are there any basic patterns for making plush dolls? where can i find them?

also keep in mind that i'd like the trunks to be removeable (they fall off in the game ;))

thanks so much!

i'm planning on sewing some bags that will have wooden dowels as handles, and i want to do something to snazz them up - i thought of decoupaging some images onto the dowels themselves.
will mod podge work, or will it be sticky to the touch if handled too much?
(i've never used mod podge before)
thanks!

though this exactly crafty, I was wondering if anyone has any cool font websites to download fonts.
I'm planning on making by boyfriend a pretty jar with fortune cookie like strips of paper with why I love him. Then writing on the jar something creative, like love potion #9 or somehting like that.
I've tried downloading fonts in the past, but never really been able to make it work. any help?

Can anyone point me in the direction of some free pattern for a garter belt? I've never made one before, or seen one (but I am planning to go to a Victoria's Secret to inspect the goods). They look fairly easy, but I want to be sure. How do they close? Are they elastic waisted? How important is it to get the grip-things sewn on in the right place?

Yes I inspected the FAQ.

bath salts-

crap, they are still HARD AS A BRICK-- I added about a cup and a half of borax and if anything it made them worse-- what should I do? consider it a lost cause and start over

i think that i am an idiot, and accidentally deleted the earlier post. sorry, i got kind of overwhelmed with lovin' support there.

(either that, or mods have tossed it for reasons i didn't find in the FAQ.
if this is so, please let me know about it. i don't want to be stepping on toes here, and i love the community, but i think this is fairly relevant and i will repost it and then leave it until someone tells me not to.)

anyway. i really appreciate everyone's comments, thoughts, input and so on. i will pass them on, without names, when i address this issue with the corporate office.
meantime, you can see the original issue at stake in my personal journal, here.

I have a [free] subscription to seventeen and YM. Anyway, I got my first issue of YM today and was EXTREMELY excited when I saw that on the "things to want" article in the back, and also part of the "win it" contest, is a learn-to-knit kit, and 23 people (or is 20; i can't remember) are going to be winning it.

Now, I'm not a knitter, I'm a crocheter (although I'm going to send a postcard to them and cross my fingers and see if maybe I can win a free kit lol). But I just want to say that it is pretty damn awesome that this is in a magazine and perhaps people will say "wow, knitting IS cool" (or crocheting lol because when they go to buy knit stuff they'll see crochet stuff too) and see it as a non-granny-only thing to do. :)

Wee..

i randomly came across this.

i don't know if any has done this, but it's making t shirt designs from crayons.

http://www.kidsdomain.com/craft/tshirt.html

it seems extremely easy and it's something to do with crayons.

maybe i'm just lame. but i don't know. sounded interesting.

thanks.

I want to make wine stoppers for my (ex)mom-in-law for Christmas. I am not sure if I should use, rubber corks (for longevity) or classic cork corks. I do not drink any alcohol, so I do not know if the rubber will effect the taste of the wine. Also, where would I get rubber corks? For that matter, where would I get cork corks or any type of corks for wine bottles? Thanks.

I made a Freakshow Box for my friends' birthday. I took a cheap photo holding box, spray painted it silver, then distressed it with duct tape. After that, I pasted downsized covers of the "Weekly World News"- so her box says cool stuff like: "Monkey Starts Barroom Brawl" and "Abe Lincoln Was a Woman".
I put her picture on the top.
I also got around to taking a pic of my finished, painted wedding cake toppers:)

Here's a pic of the box:

Hi all. I checked the Memories, didn't find anything terribly suitable, but if I missed a category that would help, please direct me.

A close friend of mine (former roommate) was in a major car accident this weekend, and broke her back and had a serious concussion. She's not paralyzed or anything, we're all considering her very fortunate. But, she's at home right now, missing classes. She will need help catching up, and feeling-better items.

What would you suggest to put into a care package type thing? I was thinking stuff along the lines of memory-aid, sleep-aid, happiness, staying awake to do work, concentration, getting-work-done type things. But ANY thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any help.

i'm new.
