I took a beginning sewing class at my local Hancock's Fabric Store. We made the easy shirt in the McCall's 3916 pattern.

I am actually suprised that my shirt fits. It fits well actually. Even though it looks like a nurse's scrubs I am still happy with it.

The only problem is that it is too short.

Shirt under here. )

This week's sewing project was much more blistering than the last. I don't even remember last week's sewing project @_@

I started with this pattern, but the top ended up being way too big, so I scrapped it all together and used the bodice of a vintage Simplicity pattern (which still ended up too big but was much easier to alter than its predecessor) and the skirt of another pattern.

i have a question for you all. i've heard of a way to donate blankets to hospitals for their neo-natal icu. i've decided i want to do this in lieu of giving christmas gifts this year. my question is have any of you ever done this? how do i go about it? do i just call the hospital and ask if they need them or is there an organization i go through? ANY help would be greatly appreciated in this endeavor.

(sorry for the text only!!!)

I was feeling ultra crafty last night and decided to make this strawberry pin. :D It's sewed with a pink and green cloth from Wal-Mart and little gold (seed? Is that what they're called?) beads. Haha, I really like it; I think it would look cute on a jean purse or the collar of my jean jacket perhaps. Tell me whatcha think! (Sorry for the crappy webcam pictures. It looks better in real life, I promise.)

I was given a lot of yarn by a woman who wasn't using it, and I got some very old/odd colors in the stash.

One of them is under here. Five pics total. )

so, i've been making ACEOs (art cards editions and originals) lately (miniature art/art cards), painting mostly, but broke out some of my husband's prismacolor pencils last night and made this. If i mated with a green-eyed pirate, this is what our love child would look like.. :) Oh and hi, not sure if straight up drawing/paintings are considered "crafts" but...

the size is 2.5" x 3.5"

This used to be a fuzzy sweater (I think it was a blend of Nylon & Angora and some other stuff, it was from TJ Max or something), now it's a fuzzy shrug? And I used the leftover scraps and some fleece to make a hat. Though I kind of like the hat better? It's also lined with satin to keep the fuzzy white stuff out of your hair.

follow the magic cut :O...... )

I recently finished up two necklaces that I've been slowly working on for about a month now, plus I made up a really cool pair of earrings. I just thought I'd share photos with y'all!

pictures ahoy! )

I hope you like the end results. I'm very happy with how they all turned out.

This is my first post here! I just started looking around here last night and I got excited to do some stuff. Today I went to Wal-Mart and bought several items, including black embroidery floss, and so I just made did this: Click me! )

That is my backpack on which I embroidered a rocket ship and a star. It's nothing major, but I had fun doing it. I haven't sewn anything in ages, not since I had to for home ec and classes like that in high school.

I also want to try stenciling on t-shirts sometime, but I couldn't find any cute shirts at Wal-Mart, so I'll probably try Old Navy. We don't have any good thrift shops or anything around here, so that's out.

I want to embroider some other stuff, too, maybe like a pillowcase, my purse, some jeans, stuff like that. I don't know yet!

Thanks for looking!

I got my sublime stitching stuff yesterday and started straight away and am almost finished my very first tea towel, which I will try and post pictures of later. The question i am supposed to be asking is - embroidery floss, how on earth do you keep the stuff. Everytime i change colour and have to open a new bundle it almost imediately gets really tangled. Are there any super nifty little tricks or ways to keep it from tangling or am I going to have to refind the inner peace it takes to untangle the damn stuff. Oh - Are there and websites that sell floss. Nobody here seems to embroider (is that even the right word?) and I can buy one shade of purple or and yucky green but nothing much else, any suggestions? Thanks - Lisa

I remember someone making a post awhile back about ways to 'disguise' your birth control pill case.

I was thinking about just painting mine, but I'm not sure what kind of paint to use, or how I should finish it off.

I'm sorry if all this is in the FAQ already. Just point me in the right direction.

So I want to make a felted iPod cozy as a leaving present for a friend who's changing schools next year.

Problem: how big is an iPod? (I don't have one :( because I am penniless )

Also: any tips on felting? Any fabulous effects I can get (I'm just using plain white wool)

hey y'all it's been a very long while, however now i will utilize your wisdom for a newfound issue.

i'm into making punk rock-ish tees (stencil/applique/etc) and selling them.

I wanted to make something to the extent of vivienne westwood/johnny rotten's "destroy shirt":

do y'all think the swastika is a bit much?  i know i probably wouldn't wear it if it had it on the shirt, but would a shirt with just "destroy" written on it be cool or not?

OPINIONS ARE YOUR PAL SO COMMENT PLS

I got so frustrated with my first batch of resin pendants I threw them into a closet for about half a year. This is how they turned out. I just used little trinkets to try it out for the first time and poured the resin in around the trinkets. I used different kinds of ice cube trays to make them. But I hate their shape.

That and they came out a little sticky. Even after sitting there for months they're still tacky to the touch. Did I not use enough catalyst?

Can anyone refer me to where I can get proper molds for pouring resin?

I'm embarrassed to say that these were the best ones that turned out. And even these are pathetic. The large ones are quite...cloudy. And if you use your fingernail, the resin scrapes off a bit. It's gummy. :\
