I made a necklace today and I'll post a picture as soon as I can find some AA batteries for my digital camera. Otherwise I thought I'd just add my two cents on Stitch Witchery for hems, trims etc. Wow. I, for one, am completely incapable of sewing (I don't own a machine, and I'm really not patient enough to sit down and hand sew something, though I know simple stitches). I love this stuff! Does anyone know if it lasts a really long time? It doesn't seem like it'd wear for very long, but it's easy to use and for quick fixes I adore this stuff. Maybe that's just me :)

Pictures of a necklace soon. Sorry for the text only post.

Just wanted to share my newest baby. Not very good. I handpainted most of it including the lettering which i think is crap. Oh well I guess...

the joann's in springfield (this is in the 'burbs, it's at the intersection of routes 320 and 420 is having a clearance sale in preperation for its closing (the new super joann's opens september 23)

anyways, everything in the store now is at least 30% off tagged-prices, and some items like all the books are as high as 60%. yesterday we went and i got about $175 worth of books and quilting supplies (i've been wanting to learn quilting, but that stuff is expensive and i'm not sure when i'll get the time) for $80.

Before you look at the pictures, I apologize for the bad photography of some of the pieces.  I'm not very good at using my digital camera, yet.  Thank goodness for Photoshop.

Crafty Box

So...I'm a crafty bargain hunter...and over the past few years I've accumulated a ton of crap...finally I forced myself to sit down and work on a little crafty box...originally I was going to give this to a friend but I lost track of her. Plus, I liked the box so much I didn't want to give it away. ME SO SELFISH!

Acrylic paint, varnish, an applique and little rossetes.

Check it out! IMAGE HEAVY!

i have a little question for you all, how can you attach bottle caps to a belt? i had thought about using a nail and then bending the back but that a lot more difficult than i thought, lol. any ideas?
[identity profile] leopardwolf.livejournal.com
I can never seem to get the mixture just right for acrylic water to set properly. The surface of a glass fill I have decorated is tacky. I am trying to brainstorm ways to seal it off permanantly that will dry clear and solid and still have the wet-look effect of water.

I was thinking of some sort of liquid varnish or enamel, like the kind you can get in the craft section of Wal-Mart. I was wondering if I painted some over the surface, especially in the tacky area of the acrylic water, if it would dry solid and seal it in, effectivly making it non-tacky and protecting the surface.

Anyone else have any experience trying something similar?

Leaves...

Well, I'm in marching band. During practice today we marched up the road to the school from our practice field. While marching I happen to look down and see TONS of Really REALLY pretty leaves. They were so beautiful! But since I couldn't pick them up while marching, I decided that I would walk home and pick them up on the way. ^_^

So I did. ^_^ And now they are being pressed in a book. ^_^ And now my question...

Anyway I can make them last? I can't laminate them and I don't really won't to do anything other than flatten them.

Should I do anything other then press them to make them last? I'd sort of like to send them in a few letters.

I tried to take pictures but my camera is being stupid so... I'm sorry for the text only post. ~_~

A few questions first...

I believe I saw a post earlier on where to get freezer paper in Canada (for stenciling), but it seems to have disappeared. Does anyone know the link to that post or where to get freezer paper in canada?

and also, i was using contact paper to stencil, but it seems to bleed. Does anyone know how to prevent bleeding on a stencil?

On to the pictures:

I know that I can turn animal fur into felt easily enough, but what other uses are there for animal fur? I remember someone mentioning spinning it into yarn, but I'm not sure I have the capability to do that (though if someone wants to point me in the direction of . . . uh . . . directions, I'll take a look). Is there anything else that can bedone with it?

For the record, and if anyone's curious, the fur in question comes from a dog of indeterminate breed. I just figured I'd start saving the hair from his brushings, knowing that there was something crafty I could do with it, even if I didn't quite know what.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

This is way old, but I still love it. I made the Barbie in 8th grade and the box a year later, which accounts for the sketchy quality of the tattoos. Behold!

Dear crafty crafters,

My name is Cassie, & this is my first time...I've been a member here for a few days and haven't had the nerve to post any pictures yet. You're all very multi-talented.

I don't have any clothing that was manipulated in anyway, or even any fabulous jewelry that I made. I do, although have a flower vase made from flowers, scrapbooking pages, and a hand made postcard... With a bit of a pun.

And I can hate your girl, I can tell you that she's real pretty, I can take my clothes off, I cannot fall in love(+8) )

Hope you enjoyed everything.

Ok guys! Sorry it has taken me so long! I was hoping to include pictures, but without a digital camera it is hard and none of my friends have been around lately. So instead of waiting even longer I just made a text only tutorial. Well, without any further ado!

Hey all. I've been watching the community for a few days now and I'm always so excited to see what other people have produced, and thought it was about time to start sharing my own. So, for your viewing pleasure, here are some of the clothing projects I've been working on over the past few months. If anyone's interested, I think I'll post some of my non-clothing crafts in the near future too.

all hand sewed and with unfinished edges, cause that's how i roll )

On the 25th of this month, my mom has been sober for one month, so I was thinking about getting her something - I'm really proud of her!
Getting her a flower or something like that just doesn't feel personal enough, does anyone have any advice on something I can make in this short amount of time?

I bought this plain, ugly clock for 59 cents at a thrift store, and after a few minutes of remodeling it's now rather cute. (I have to go buy new clock hands, though).

I don't have any before pictures because I didn't even think about it, but the clock face was just plain white with ugly numbers.

The outside is clear and I'm thinking about adding a background to it. Any suggestions? I was thinking just a solid color since the clock face is colorful enough as it is.

Here it is )
