I made this a while ago out of fimo. It's an apple necklace that me and my friend Sarah named Pomona (which means apple.. well she says anyway).

I wear it everywhere, it's so cute =)

since I recently decided that I needed to sew, I've come across some complications with sewing pockets that actually look decent. I've looked through the memories a bit but I don't seem to see any tutorials on how to do pockets. I've done some basic google searching but I haven't found anything that really helps me out either so if anyone knows where I can get a really good tutorial will you leave me a comment...thanks!

EDITED...sorry just wanted to say that the pockets in question technically deal with purse pockets and such. I figured that this info might make a difference, heh

it's not a "real" zeon jacket but the treize (gundam wing) jacket I was making my boyfriend needed too much alteration and wouldn't be done in time so... we threw this together ^-^ not very good but the thread kept breaking and it's near 100 degrees and I have no AC in my house... so I think it's good enough for now... and yes all embroidered by me even though I used the sewing machine it was a PAIN. anyway, it shall have to do for Otakon this weekend. I'll be adding shoulder thing too but that has to wait until tomorrow. The collar is folded over it's not as small as it appears to be in the picture. (X-posted to - http://elegantgoth.suddenlaunch3.com/index.cgi )

Today, I decided to experiment with clay that dries when left... well... in contact with... the air.
That's pretty much it, because I'm an idiot and don't know how to explain it any better.
My point is, you don't need to bake it.

Here are the things I made (and that sadly, will be given away as gifts)!

Oh, and just because Photoshop was here and allowed me to edit a picture by *gasp!* adding text, here's something for all you Wallace and Gromit fans: )

Is there an official name for this type of pincushion?:

I am trying to Google for a pattern, but I'm having trouble since I don't know exactly what to call it. Links to patterns or books with patterns for it would also be appreciated.

Thank you!

Sorry for the text only post y'all, but I have a question regarding melt and pour soap making.

I've just started getting into this; have gotten some lovely molds, fragrances, and colorants, so am pretty set for materials. I've bought the soap base at Michaels so far, except for 2 lbs of olive oil base I got from brambleberry.com (where I got the molds & fragrances).

Something I've noticed with the soaps I've made (which work and smell and look great :) is that they 'sweat' after I take them out of the molds. I let them set up on the counter at room temperature and then put them in the fridge overnight, so maybe that's a factor. Or maybe the fact that it's summer affects it (though I have AC, so I don't think so). Is it the base itself? Maybe it's an inferior base?

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, and I'll put some pictures up soon!

Sorry in advance for this being text only.

So, I'm looking to make a quilt for the first time. I want to do it by machine mostly, if I can. I have decent sewing skills but I wouldn't call myself "advanced".

Does anyone have good resources for a beginner's guide to quilt-making? I'm looking for info on the actual process, pattern/color selection, tie-downs v. sewing the whole shabang together, etc.

*** I'm looking for good online resources that aren't already in the Memories section, just to clarify ***

The run down.

Cut 2 piece of "fabric" 10X3.5 inches

Measure 8 inches from one end and draw a line from top to bottom draw your notch for the snap cut the notch out of both pieces of fabric.

cut two pieces of clear vinyl, each slightly smaller than 8 inches and one 2.5 and the other 2 inches tall

sew all the pieces together, attach snap to the flap and to the main part of the wallet.

Faux pearls with red wire...
I plan to do a black and purple version as well, and maybe even chokers to match.

These used to be my favorite pair of jeans, and since I wore them so much the crotch started getting a little threadbare and eventually got a couple holes. So I turned it into a skirt! I made it a couple years ago, actually... don't think I ever posted about it though. It's really comfy and was surprisingly easy to make. Since the inside fabric was light, I had to back it with an old white t-shirt so it wouldn't be see-through.

(I also made the quilt it's laying on for my then-boyfriend [now husband] and it's made entirely out of his old jeans and a couple shirts. Yay for sappy gifts! I also put 4 pictures of us on it and wrote meaningful dates here and there..)

I'll stop rambling now! )

I made this by request from a co-worker. I was almost finished tonight when I accidentally smeared the entire dirty side. gah! So a quick paint-over and touch-ups..and this is what I've got...

acrylic paint
wood sign
4 large magnets

Dirty side (with the magnets painted brown for splotches of dirt)
sad dish and silverware

clean side (magnets painted like soap bubbles)
happy dish and silverware!

p.s. my computer is making a really weird sound..like it's gonna blow up! ACK!

I`m thinking about making my own stationery, & was wondering if anyone knew which way to make it is the best. I`ve seen people block print it, and some even screen print it. Which method would be the best if I was going to make a lot of it?

Thanks !
