A while ago, I found plain white pillow cases really cheap, so I bought a couple.
Tonight, my bf [Rob] and I personalized them for each other <3

I call him Beef and he calls me Geef....its a long story LOL

I cut both the stencils. Other than that, Rob did his pillow all by himself <3
It was so cute, when he was stamping and painting, he said that I couldnt look until he was done hehe.

a few more )

I seriously love them sooo much!

You know how people make those clay medallion/beads for necklaces and bracelets?
Like this...

The picture is so perfect and crisp!

Well I've been trying to do something like that but not as elaborate and detailed and everytime I cut down the clay tube, the colors and clay smoosh together and it looks like blah.

Is there a special way to do this?
Do I chill it and than cut it?
Thanks for your help!

Our Annual Holiday Card Exchange

Hello My Darlings,

It's that time of year again where I ask you to send me a card and promise to send you one in return. Please remember to include your return address, and this is really important; please include your Live Journal user name so that I'll know who to thank and get to come by your journal and peek in at you. I get very, very confused when you don't include your name. However, it's usually the people I know really well who remember to do this. Oh well, no matter.

So, please send us a card, which will remind me to send you a card. I'm going to include my address, and these are pictures of two of the five collages I sent out to everyone last year. At least I think it was five -- five color copied collages with pretty colored ribbons that some of you gave to your cats to play with.

Ok, I've had it a week, and have made several hats. I started out making a baby hat with the smallest ring. Well it's a little small for anything other than a really tiny baby, or...

We had freezing temps and ice yesterday in central Texas, so of course the whole city shut down. I finished up some odds and ends for Christmas presents. I'm in no way done with everything, but progress was made, including this guy

Here's a recent creation- inspired by a friend who takes some amazing underwater photography- these are similar colors to some of her star fish images...I wanted to create a piece that had the same feeling as her images do...

Did some new faces as well as some wire wrapping

The two black and white faces were wire wrapped in silver and black wire. I like the setting on the one with the squares, I did the top of it with silver squares as well. As for the Santa I haven't decided if I want to wire wrap it for a pendant or glue a pin back onto it and make it a pin and with the blue and copper one I decided to try something knew and did copper wire spirals and stuck it into the clay to make hair, not sure if I am going to make a hanger and attack it to a couple of the spirals at the top, glue a pin back onto it and make it a pin or see about making it into an art doll. Oh and the green one with the leaves, I just love that bright green color on it.

Both my husband and I both live relatively far away from our families, his in Vegas, mine in Jersey.
This is tough for a number of reasons. No built-in babysitters tops that list!
But also that our little babe doesn't get to see his grandparents and adoring aunts all that often.
We keep them up to date and involved as much as we can through many, many pictures.
I came up with these little guys to dress up wallet size photos of our Chicken.

I made a Jayne Cobb hat!!!!
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

It's for my boyfriend for Christmas.. He got me hooked on Firefly, and when we watched the episode where Jayne gets the hat from his Ma, Ryan says to me "I want you to make me a hat like that!!!!" and he got so excited about it, but I told him that I'm still a beginner knitter, and that there was no way I could make that hat.. I LIED!!! well, I'm no expert knitter, but this hat was way too easy to make, following Heather's Firefly hat pattern

I'm so excited to give it to him!

Tea

So I've always been interested in tea amd a new Teavana store just opened in the mall near me so I'm getting inspired. Does anyone know of a web page or book that talks about formulating your own tea blends? I'm looking for information that would look something like this:

"Morning teas:
Morning tea blends are tradionally blah blah tea or suchandsuch.
Here are some good additions to morning tea blends:
orange peel- citrus-y and warm
ginger root- wakes you up, calms the stomach from all that rich buttery breakfast foods
hibiscus flowers- Warming and a nice red color
...
"

That's the kind of information I'm going for.
Has anyone every seen anything like this?
Do I have to go out and write it myself?
Thanks!

EDIT: I totaly forgot, I was gonna include my recipe for Chai tea in this entry, it's here below this cut!

Hey everyone, I need some help! It's mum's birthday in three days, and I want to create a mixCD for her with a prettiful jewel case and all that jazz. I'd like the songs to be themed on, well, mothers/daughters. Mum appreciation!
The problem is, I can't think of barely any songs. I'm entirely stuck. Anything come to mind?

Hi, crafty people! I've been lurking around here for a long time, and I think it's time for me to join.
I have only recently begun to embrace crafts again. I really hated crafts growing up. I was in a Camp Fire group that made lots and lots of bad crafts. I hated making cheesy Christmas decorations and gifts that no one in my family would like or 150 felt bunny napkin rings for the Veterans' Home easter dinner. The only time I enjoyed crafting was when I got to break out of patterns and explore my own creative ideas. You talented folks have given me new inspiration! I can't wait for school break to try out lots of fun ideas.

Edit: Doh--I see it in the memories now. Sorry, folks, I was looking in the wrong section. Nevermind! Question answered!

But that's not the point. This is the point:
I have an orange, yellow, red, and purple stripey old sweater that I love. Unfortunately, it had a bad experience in the wash and is now irremediably Too Small for me (I tried a few different stretching techniques to no avail). The knit has also become much more tight. I love the colors in this sweater and would like to make it into something useful. Arm warmers are out--I don't like to wear them. I'd like to chop it up and convert it into a scarf, but I'm worried about the cut edges unraveling. Do any of you have experience doing this type of surgery? Can you cut up a perfectly good sweater without having the whole thing fall apart on you?

Ideas:
1) Sew the sweater pieces to a fleece backing for a double-sided scarf. (This is my current favorite, as I think the fleece would be nice and soft between my sensitive face and the scratchy wool.)
2) Sew the sweater pieces to each other for a double-sided scarf.
3) Bag the plan altogether and give the sweater to someone tiny who wants to look like one of Big Bird's legs.

I really want to make erasers that are scented. Is there anything in particular that I have to use? Or can I use any scented oil? I make erasers with sculpey eraser clay, if that helps any.

Quick, cheap, easy "extra" presents for my almost-in-laws:

Fleece blankets

Top left: practically-nephew, ten years old, loves motorcycles and skateboarding

Top right: practically-brother and sister in-law, she's picky, so I wanted something festive so she wouldn't have to feel like it had to be out all year

Bottom left: practically-niece, two years old, loves Dora and Care Bears and everything pink

Bottom right: practically-mother in-law, it totally matches her living room tan and blue furniture, I was so excited!

Edit: they're easy schmeasy to make :o)

I used 2 yards (with the fabric being 58 inches wide) for the adults, 1 1/2 yards for the little one, and 1 3/4 for the medium. I only did less than 2 for those because I was being cheap.

Cut off the un-patterned/yucky edges and pretty much just start cutting. I made the fring about 4 - 5 inches long and an inch wide, but don't stress about exact measurement. Cut around all the edges (either curving around the corners or just cutting the squares out), and then tie a knot in each fringe at the base. Super easy, reasonably quick, and cheaper than yarn.

I just finished my second sewing project (after Jedi robes for Halloween). I used a too-big tshirt and furry leopard-print fabric to make a totebag. It was just a little bulge... )

This is a gift for one of my friends (who doesn't read LJ!). Her and I used to go to abandoned houses together to shoot photos.

Lots of pictures. Sorry, I'm really excited about this one. )

The most difficult thing about making this was carving out the place for the lens in the front. It was otherwise much easier to make than it looks.

It's just a cigar box, with some bits of plaster and paint I ripped off the walls of an abandoned house.

I have a question for everyone, though...

None of the furnishings are glued down. I can't decide if I should glue them or not. I mean, it is an abandoned house, I kind of like the idea of everything being sort of random, but there is definately a "best" placement for some of the items. My question, then, is what do you all think? Glue or no?

*EDIT*
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!
Wow. I really, really, appreciate it. I will keep all of your suggestions in mind. :D

As a long time craft community lurker, I seldom post any of my own crafts. But this one just makes me giggle. I have a pet name for one of my friends... "Duckie". And so a rubber duckie, paint, other odds and ends, and a nice case of boredom all managed to mingle into one odd little Christmas ornament... Clicky. )

For those of you wanting to print your digital photos, I cannot recommend WinkFlash enough. Their prices are amazing (12 cents for a 4x6! You can go as large as 10x15 for $3.79!), their customer service is fantastic, and they have flat-rate shipping fees of $1. Best of all, their photo quality is amazing. I've also used Shutterfly and Ofoto, and WinkFlash is much better.

I'm not affiliated with them, I just love them. Hopefully, you guys will too!

Hey guys! I looked in the memories, but couldn't find what I was looking for...I want to do a type of '100 things I love about you' for my boyfriend, but I want an original way to present it...he doesn't like Chinese food, so I can't do the fourtune cookie thing, so any ideas? Anything would be appreciated!!! :0)

someone made a post earlier today or last night with pictures of a cat tent.
i saved the link to show my mom and now it says there is no such entry?

does the OP know why or maybe have a link i could show my mom? i thought it was so cute and she would love to see it...

thanks

I'm so sorry if this has been asked before ( i did check the memories and couldn't find anything) and i'll delete it straight away if it has, but anyway..............

I've been making my own jewellery for a while and i want to start making cute charms from buttons, but i have a couple of questions -

1. What sort of drill do i need to get to drill holes in the buttons? I'm sure i could find one on ebay i just don't know what to search for! Any jewellery makers in the UK have any suggestions?

2. How do i remove the shank from a button in order to make it into a charm?

I'm so sorry for the boring post, but i thought this would be the best place to ask.

Thanks in advance. xxx
