Oh man. These pants are so comfy, cheap and easy. The cloth cost me about $2 (you need around 2 yards for a pair of pants) and it took me about 20 minutes to make them.

I haven't posted in quite awhile! I've been busy harrassing my landlord to fix things in our apartment and get professionals to clean up the neighbour's sewage that's come into our basement! Eww! It's hard to be crafty when that kind of stuff happens.

Anyway, here's some jewelry I've done lately. The summer heat's been holding me back from getting creative ideas out! (it's really hard to glaze things when the heat prevents it from drying :S)

Sneak Peek

BEWARE: LOTS OF PICTURES :)
I'm like a bird, I'll only fly away )
I hope that wasn't too many pictures!

P.S. E6000 won't work for me! Does anyone have any tips? I'm trying to attach little circles of polymer clay to metal hair clips, etc....I've sanded both surfaces first, left the glue to set a little before pressing the two together - two days later, I went to wear a hair clip and the clay piece came off when I went to take the clip out of my hair. Thanks for any replies :)

I remember seeing a tutorial here a while back for making one's own dress form, but I'm wondering (on a semi-related note) if anyone has ideas for creating a DIY necklace display bust (that is to say, something like this), and/or something on which to display bracelets.

I thought about trying to sew one and stuff it, but I'm not sure how well that would work. Anyone got a better idea?

Maiden Spider  When I found this bit of sky blue chiffon in one of my fabric bins, I just about had a
stroke cause a big old Black Widow popped up from the side of the box next to it.

After whomping the tar out of it, I felt  a bit  better and decided I wanted to make a sweet , frilly...non-lethal spider.   I mean anything powder blue with sparkles shouldn't be able to kill you.

It always happens: I'm browsing around online, I see something I adore, and then I think, "why buy that when I know I can make it?" And then the next question in my head is, of course, "how the heck do I make it?" Maybe y'all can help me with this one. I found this skirt while mucking around. I know it's a pretty simple crochet lace pattern, sort of a pineapple motif, which I can do. The thing I've never been able to do is make my own patterns. I've looked around for quite a while for crochet skirt patterns, finding other must-have skirt patterns in the process (that always happens, too), but haven't found anything remotely close. Can you help? TIA!

I finally finished up everything for the care package that I'm giving to my boyfriend.

And took lots of pictures! )

Super thanks to everyone that was patient enough to help me when I posted me dumb questions! <3

Anybody know of any nice webhosting sites? I really want to make my own jewelry site. I'm sick of selling on lj, its just so much work. And I don't particularly like etsy because of their crazy fees...as well as there's so much competition to get your stuff seen.

Please help. I'd also love it if I could pay someone to create a layout for me. Prefferably a simple fairy layout or possibly vintage/art deco.

not sure if it's alright to ask but calling all Singaporean crafters: anybody knows where i can buy acid-free archival paper and jiffy mailers or their equivalents locally? (jiffy mailers are stiff envelopes good for mailing cards or photos) thanks in advance!

Is anyone going/went to the one in Brooklyn? I missed it last year and I'm so excited this year.

Hey everyone again! Another post.. I'm on a roll. This is a piece of fine art I did for an exhibiton at my local gallery. It is based on my experience in Amsterdam and I based it on the red light district. At first I had far bigger plans for this... then realised how long the embroidey and everything else would take and admited defeat lol. But I still love the end product. One last thing.. the black marks are not supposed to be there, but after going in my uni portfolio the flexi glue decided to stick to the black card and I can't get it off without ruining the whole thing :'(

Well technically not very new, I made these pieces months ago but hadn't gotten around to actually photographing them...

Anyway, here are some pics!

Designed/ sewn by yours truly. All material was found in the discount bin of a discount fabric store (double discount rocks)

I only need to hem it, but how long should I make it? I'm thinking knee length, but maybe shorter?

Sorry about the bad lighting.

I had an swesome ACDC T that made me look frumpy, so i made it into a hot rock dress. It's made entirely out of a mens Tshirt, no addred fabric was needed
sorry about the stupid face i'm pulling, i did this in a rush

So I have this fine link chain that I bought to make a necklace from. However, the chain itself is a really bright, silvery color and it's... ehh... not really what I want. It didn't look bright in the package, but oh well.

What I'd like to know is if anyone has any idea how I might go about aging it or something along those lines? Or even making it a darker color, if possible. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks ahead of time!

hello :)
i joined the community a few days ago and thought i would share.
i am doing classes in industrial sewing, but it is not something i am getting into. i will be attending design and art school next year to become a fashion designer
in the mean time, i do stuff like this.

machine embroidery )

layered fabric 'art'  )

reversible doggy coat i made for a friend )

and finally, some purses i made for my mum and aunt )
and i will leave it at that for now. i have a lot more to share, but i will save it for another time
thanks for looking :)

Where can I find round, shiny, metallic beads in a wide range of colors and sizes? Kind of like these, but perfectly smooth and shiny? Thank you!

Alright, so I found that great info about how to do silk screening using cheap materials, but I have some questions for those of you who screenprint.  I found some really cool screens online, they are made to be put in a lazer printer or a photo copy machine.  The heat like fuzes the screen where you print (so the black part of the photo copy) and BAM! you have a sceen and are ready to print in 30 seconds.  The thing is...they are kinda expensive. Like $70 for 20, and I can't seem to find anywhere where I can just buy one, to try them out.  Has anyone used these??  Can you give me some advice before I possibly waste money???

i have like a shit-ton of makit & bakit plastic baking crystals.
i have moldable "leading" to make suncatchers with, but i want to make "lead-free" shapes for other projects. i've made some freehand circles, but i don't have a dremel so the edges are all funky.
i thought about using cookie cutters to make cleaner shapes.
i've seen stuff on ebay that's a cookie cutter/die.
i looked at photos of the dies, but they didn't make any sense to me. can anyone enlighten my slow self as to whether i can bake them with my crystals?

the results of my freehand circles (3) )

i like the texture, it looks like that bubbly sort of stained glass. i just don't like the edges. i should probably ask my sister. she's totally practical.

for craftiness's sake:
some sea shape shrinky dinks i made for a mobile )

the shrinky dinks are double-sided though since they were my first set, the second side faded a bit as it stuck to the paper on the cookie sheet. however, i know how to get the color on the bottom side to stay put. the cookie sheet and paper have to be cold. because the first two or three SDs i put in together came out fine, but subsequent SDs faded. i think i will probably buy multiple cookie sheets for my toaster oven.

hope that helps a fellow SDer!

I'm thinking of taking a class (a short one, it only meets three or four times) in copper foil..but I'm supposed to have an idea for a simple design. Where's a good place for inspiration?

I'm a little on autopilot here.. any good online resources for a simple, pretty design?

it's for a suncatcher (The intro project)
thx!
