Hey there. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to make a really nice pregnancy journal. I've been racking my brain and nothing I come up with seems like it would work or look very nice.

I am also trying to crochet a blanket for my baby and I am having some issues. The loops are quite loose and when I tighten it on up I can't seem to get my needle on through. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

uhh, i did this in june or thereabouts, but never actually posted it...procrastinator extreme, yes.
i'm most excited about the fact that this even survived a warped tour, my biggest problem seems to be stuff doesn't really hold up. but this did!

i did the whole fall out boy preorder deal, but tower pretty much failed at getting it to me on the release date and 4 days after the release date i called and told them screw it, i'm cancelling my order, i want my money back, i'll buy it in a store. however, even after giving me my $17 back (and going and buying the cd for $10 at walmart)....a couple weeks later the special preorder shirt arrives. awesome! however, even an adult small is pretty much a dress on me. so. i made it smaller and had some fun with the back.

the gold in the back was originally supposed to match the ink on the front, but i kind of failed at that.

I mean to work on other projects, but somehow I keep ending up making purses for myself. Three new ones over the past few days (plus one gift as well)

I hope this post is allowed.

I am a long time lurker, first time poster.

I am currently working on my first circle skirt. I am new to sewing clothes, but I have been sewing for years.
(well, mending mostly.)

ANYWAY... I am making this skirt out of fabric I absolutly ADORE so I took a lot of time figuring out exact mesurments and planning. Tonight I finally got to the cut/sew part and I have it cut out (with seam allowance and all) and I go to hem the bottom of it..... and realise.... I have no idea how to hem something that is curved. I can't for the life of me figure this out.

Please, crafty goddesses, help me out! and soon!

hey guys. last night I needed the freezer-paper transfer thing to work for me in a serious pinch, and it totally paid off! i'd bought some a while back and never used it cause i didn't have a printer. got one for xmas, and away i went. my co-worker needed a cute t-shirt to put on a bear to give to his long-distance girlfriend, and he was catching his plane this morning. last night, i went to it with a wing and a prayer, and here's what came out!

super brief tutorial on the freezer paper thing, no pics cause i was in a hurry making it )

The main drawback is that you can only print up to 8.5/11 size. but whatever, it works for bags and stuff like this.

I had a project for class, we had to look pictures up (of a list with items). Then design your own thing out of it, we weren't allowed to use any beads. Which was a shame cause I made these earrings )
...

After I heard I couldn't use them, I send it to a friend who liked it. Then weaved this bracelet )
^__^

I got 98 points of the 100 ^___^

If this breaks any posting rules, let me know and I'll remove it ASAP!

Hello everyone! I'm currently working on a web site called "Mon Coeur Noir" that's going to be a sort of a who's who of crafty DIY ladies. I want it to be a place were someone can search through artist to buy their products, but also learn more about artist through reviews and interviews. I want to have a featured artist of the month to spotlight the extra talented, and have interviews weekly with women who have their own crafty business. There would also be a consignment store directly on the site to bring in more traffic and success for small crafters. Does this sound plausible? Are there already too many sites like this out there? Do you think people would be willing to submit articles about crafting? I really want this to be a top notch site for DIY alternative girls and boys.

Here is a rough draft of what the site would look like :

http://moncoeurnoir.freeservers.com/

As you can see, it's a more on the Punky/Alternative side than most craft sites.

Any feedback is much appreciated. If you would like to submit any articles you have written about DIY, crafts, being a small business owner, or anything of the sort, you can e-mail them to me at moncoeurnoirdiy@aol.com

Thanks!

Hiyaaa, I've been a lurker for a while & finally decided to contribute to the community :P My two friends are HUGE Broadway Musical fans. One really likes Mark from 'Rent' and the other one loves Elphaba from 'Wicked'. So, I decided to make plushies out of the characters and give them to my friends for Christmas. Had to come up with a custom pattern and hand-sew them since I don't have a machine. Keep in mind these are the first ones I've ever sewn, and I'm hoping to improve a LOT ^^;

Le Click! )

Yes I realize that both of these plushies are extremely naked, but I didn't have enough time to work out clothing patterns. Since then I've come up with a better, more efficient plushie pattern. Hopefully I'll be able to sell a few in a few months after I improve a little more :)

Thanks to my friend [livejournal.com profile] yodallama for the pics :)

Ok, so I've heard a little about this on the tshirtsurgery community, but I can't find anything on making a pattern from a pair of PANTS that fit perfectly. Any ideas?
I checked in memories, but I didn't find it. :(

I have a possibly stupid knitting question*:
If you knit across all rows and never purl, then it becomes the stockinette stich and it curls inwards towards the wrong side, yes? This is my actual question - I've done a crochet border around a stockinette knit piece and had success with that helping it lay flat, but if you want to only knit I was wondering if you begin and end every single row with a purl stitch, will it create a little border that will help the whole thing lie flat? Would it be an attractive border? Is this a bad idea or am I being master of the obvious and this is a basic trick everyone knows already? If this works, I think it should work with the Knifty Knitter as well.

Here are a couple of really simple projects I've done in the past few of weeks

One crochet project and one knit-and-crochet project. Thar be kitties. Yarr. )
*I am recently self taught at crochet and want to get into knitting now. I've tried nothing fancy in either as of yet! Please bear with me ;)

EDIT: Got it. Stockinette is knit one row, purl the next. pardon the mistake.

Please delete if this is not crafty enough!

I've got a question of how to make a cute lj user pic thingy. I know it has to be 100x100 but the pic I took on my cell phone is 160x120. Any Ideas of how I can make it smaller without making my face look deformed? And How do I put a cute little background in it or some words? Here's the pic of me:

I've recently been trying my hand at my cooking and baking skills. Here's my first batch of fudge I've ever made in my life. Yeah, I was proud of it and took a picture of it :P

Yummy! )

Here's a little christmas story for everybody:

My mom and dad went christmas tree shopping and she saw this tree in the corner all alone...on the ground. She felt sorry for it, so they bought it, even though my dad told her not to. So, my mom called me down to help her decorate it, I looked at it as it was standing up in the little christmas tree holder. The trunk of the tree grew really funny, like it was really curved outward. So I put the lights on it and the star on the top and I said "mom, this is definitely a Charlie Brown christmas tree...its not going to stand for long." She was so mad at me, but I couldn't help but laugh. She was sitting on the floor looking so stressed out, and suddenly the tree started to fall towards her. I caught it and propped it against the wall...

Christmas tree oh Christmas Tree... )

A deer that I made for [livejournal.com profile] stmarys! He is made from old sweaters, vintage fabric, and buttons. It is the first 3D animal that I have made, and I'm really proud of it!

See more pictures, a sketch from the planning, and the deer using a typewriter here!

Crafty divas, has anyone ever painted on wax? I got this wax lantern thing (link below) and it's bright yellow, which matches NOTHING in my home. I was thinking if I painted it a caramel/orange color on the outside, it might work...The good news is that the actual candle sits way down inside the lantern, so the thing I want to paint is not supposed to burn/melt, but I think it's supposed to be kinda see-through so the candle glows, right? if that makes any sense at all...

Can I paint this thing?

Can anyone recommend any type of glue or other medium that would affix a feather to plastic...specifically a cd case? I used a spray craft bond, which does hold but is very sensitive. I'm looking for something that would provide a more permanent hold.

i know that beet juice can be used in homemade lip balms as a colorant, but i'm wondering if there are other tried-and-true "natural" (ie: fruit and/or vegetable) juices?

So I've been trying out a new craft.

**Edit** This is done with teeny tiny seed beads and wire, and floral tape

This is my first couple tries.

This is my first time posting. I've been lurking on here for a while now and the talent and skill that some people have is intimidating.

I've been making my own totes bags for a few months now and I've been trying out different styles of bags and pockets right now.
Here's a few of the bags I made today. I bought some corduroy material which I love because of the thickness of it.

Another trip to the craft supply thrift store netted just the right amount of assorted pompoms to make the necklace I'd been thinking about. Nothing fancy. Silver toggle clasp in back.

I've seen lots of patterns for iPod covers. I, however, do not own an iPod.

I have a Zen Micro. His name is Wolfie.

Anyway. If anyone has a pattern for a cover/cozie that they've made/found, please post?

Thanks in advance. :D

It's a bit late but I figured I'd post pictures of the two ornaments I painted this Christmas. I bought the bases, nothing special but it's a really cheap way to make custom presents.

I made the first one that says Slash was for my bf, Slash is our cat. I made the Coach one for his family after I heard they loved the Slash one. I didn't have time for make cat ones (they have 5 between them) so I made one of their dog that had to be put down last year. He was their only family pet for a long time and they all really loved him (his sister even got "Coach" tattooed on her after Christmas) so I thought he deserved a place on the tree too. They all almost cried when they saw it and all wanted to be the one to put it on the tree.

I went through some boxes of fabric that my mom had packed away and uncovered some great stuff. She said I could have whatever I wanted, so I took a bunch. I especially love the floral pattern. That stuff is just begging me to make a purse out of it. Now the problem is that I've never made a purse before. Can anyone direct me to a pattern that I can buy or a good tutorial for making a purse? I've been through the memories, but didn't find quite what I wanted. I want something that's medium purse size, but with lots of pockets. I don't want a messenger bag. That's too big.
